1 A nd the second lot goeth out for Simeon, for the tribe of the sons of Simeon, for their families; and their inheritance is in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Judah,
The second name drawn was for the families of the people of Simeon. Their land was in the center of the land of the people of Judah.
2 a nd they have in their inheritance Beer-Sheba, and Sheba, and Moladah,
They had in their land the cities of Beersheba, Sheba, Moladah,
3 a nd Hazar-Shual, and Balah, and Azem,
Hazarshual, Balah, Ezem,
4 a nd Eltolad, and Bethul, and Hormah,

5 a nd Ziklag, and Beth-Marcaboth, and Hazar-Susah,

6 a nd Beth-Lebaoth, and Sharuhen; thirteen cities and their villages.

7 A in, Remmon, and Ether, and Ashan; four cities and their villages;
There were Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan, four cities with their towns.
8 a lso all the villages which round about these cities, unto Baalath-Beer, Ramoth of the south. This the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, for their families;
And they had all the towns around these cities as far as Baalath-beer, also known as Ramah of the Negev. This was the land given to the families of the people of Simeon.
9 o ut of the portion of the sons of Judah the inheritance of the sons of Simeon, for the portion of the sons of Judah hath been too much for them, and the sons of Simeon inherit in the midst of their inheritance.
The land of the people of Simeon was taken from the land of the people of Judah. For the share of the people of Judah was too large for them. So the people of Simeon received a share of land in the center of Judah’s land.
10 A nd the third lot goeth up for the sons of Zebulun, for their families; and the border of their inheritance is unto Sarid,
The third name drawn was for the families of the people of Zebulun. The share of their land was as far as Sarid.
11 a nd their border hath gone up towards the sea, and Maralah, and come against Dabbasheth, and come unto the brook which on the front of Jokneam,
The side of their land went from there west to Marealah, touched Dabbesheth, and on to the river by Jokneam.
12 a nd turned back from Sarid eastward, at the sun-rising, by the border of Chisloth-Tabor, and gone out unto Daberath, and gone up to Japhia,
It turned east from Sarid toward the sunrise as far as the land of Chisloth-tabor, then on to Daberath and up to Japhia.
13 a nd thence it hath passed over eastward, to the east, to Gittah-Hepher, Ittah-Kazin, and gone out Rimmon-Methoar to Neah;
From there it went east toward the sunrise to Gath-hepher, Eth-kazin, and on to Rimmon, turning toward Neah.
14 a nd the border hath gone round about it, from the north to Hannathon; and its outgoings have been the valley of Jiphthah-El,
Then the side of their land turned north to Hannathon, and ended at the valley of Iphtahel.
15 a nd Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Beth-Lehem; twelve cities and their villages.
In their land were Kattah, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem. In all there were twelve cities with the towns around them.
16 T his the inheritance of the sons of Zebulun, for their families, these cities and their villages.
This is what was given to the families of the people of Zebulun, these cities with the towns around them.
17 F or Issachar hath the fourth lot gone out, for the sons of Issachar, for their families;
The fourth name drawn was for the families of the people of Issachar.
18 a nd their border is Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,
Their land spread to Jezreel. In it were Chesulloth, Shunem,
19 a nd Haphraim, and Shihon, and Anaharath,
Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,
20 a nd Rabbith, and Kishion, and Abez,
Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez,
21 a nd Remeth, and En-Gannim, and En-Haddah, and Beth-Pazzez;

22 a nd the border hath touched against Tabor, and Shahazimah, and Beth-Shemesh, and the outgoings of their border have been the Jordan; sixteen cities and their villages.
Their land spread to Tabor, Shahazumah, Beth-shemesh, and ended at the Jordan, with sixteen cities and their towns.
23 T his the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, for their families, the cities and their villages.
This is what was given to the families of the people of Issachar, the cities with the towns around them.
24 A nd the fifth lot goeth out for the tribe of the sons of Asher, for their families;
The fifth name drawn was for the families of the people of Asher.
25 a nd their border is Helkath, and Hali, and Beten, and Achshaph,
In their land were Helkath, Hali, Beten, Achshaph,
26 a nd Alammelech, and Amad, and Misheal; and it toucheth against Carmel westward, and against Shihor-Libnath;
Allammelech, Amad, and Mishal. It spread west to Carmel and Shihor-libnath.
27 a nd hath turned back, at the sun-rising, Beth-Dagon, and come against Zebulun, and against the valley of Jiphthah-El toward the north of Beth-Emek, and Neiel, and hath gone out unto Cabul on the left,
It turned east to Beth-dagon and to Zebulun along the valley of Iphtahel north to Bethemek and Neiel. Then it went on north to Cabul,
28 a nd Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, unto great Zidon;
Ebron, Rehob, Hammon, and Kanah, as far as the big city of Sidon.
29 a nd the border hath turned back to Ramah, and unto the fenced city Tyre; and the border hath turned back to Hosah, and its outgoings are at the sea, from the coast to Achzib,
From there the side of their land turned toward Ramah and then to the strong city of Tyre, turned again to Hosah, and ended at the sea near Achzib,
30 a nd Ummah, and Aphek, and Rehob; twenty and two cities and their villages.
Ummah, Aphek and Rehob. There were twenty-two cities with the towns around them.
31 T his the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher, for their families, these cities and their villages.
This is what was given to the families of the people of Asher, these cities with the towns around them.
32 F or the sons of Naphtali hath the sixth lot gone out, for the sons of Naphtali, for their families;
The sixth name drawn was for the people of Naphtali, for the families of the people of Naphtali.
33 a nd their border is from Heleph, from Allon in Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, unto Lakkum, and its outgoings are the Jordan;
Their land spread from Heleph, from the big tree in Zaanannim. It went through Adami-nekeb and Jabneel as far as Lakkum. And it ended at the Jordan.
34 a nd the border hath turned back westward Aznoth-Tabor, and gone out thence to Hukkok, and touched against Zebulun on the south, and against Asher it hath touched on the west, and against Judah the Jordan, at the sun-rising;
The side of their land turned from there west to Aznoth-tabor, and went on to Hukkok. It spread to Zebulun in the south, Asher in the west, and to Judah at the Jordan in the east.
35 a nd the cities of defence Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Chinnereth,
The strong cities were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth,
36 a nd Adamah, and Ramah, and Hazor,

37 a nd Kedesh, and Edrei, and En-Hazor,

38 a nd Iron, and Migdal-El, Horem, and Beth-Anath, and Beth-Shemesh; nineteen cities and their villages.

39 T his the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, for their families, the cities and their villages.
This is what was given to the families of the people of Naphtali, the cities with their towns.
40 F or the tribe of the sons of Dan, for their families, hath the seventh lot gone out;
The seventh name drawn was for the families of the people of Dan.
41 a nd the border of their inheritance is Zorah, and Eshtaol, and Ir-Shemesh,
In their land were Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-shemesh,
42 a nd Shalabbin, and Aijalon, and Jethlah,
Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah,
43 a nd Elon, and Thimnathah, and Ekron,
Elon, Timnah, Ekron,
44 a nd Eltekeh, and Gibbethon, and Baalath,

45 a nd Jehud, and Bene-Barak, and Gath-Rimmon,

46 a nd Me-Jarkon, and Rakkon, with the border over-against Japho.

47 A nd the border of the sons of Dan goeth out from them, and the sons of Dan go up and fight with Leshem, and capture it, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and possess it, and dwell in it, and call Leshem, Dan, according to the name of Dan their father.
The people of Dan needed more land. So they went up and fought with Leshem and took it with the sword. They took it for themselves and lived in it. And they gave it the name Leshem Dan after the name of Dan their father.
48 T his the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Dan, for their families, these cities and their villages.
This is what was given to the families of the people of Dan, these cities with their towns.
49 A nd they finish to give the land in inheritance, by its borders, and the sons of Israel give an inheritance to Joshua son of Nun in their midst;
When they finished dividing the land and giving to each family group their share, then the people of Israel gave some land among them to Joshua the son of Nun.
50 b y the command of Jehovah they have given to him the city which he asked, Timnath-Serah, in the hill-country of Ephraim, and he buildeth the city and dwelleth in it.
As the Lord had told them, they gave him the city he asked for. They gave him Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. So he built the city and lived in it.
51 T hese the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, have caused to inherit by lot, in Shiloh, before Jehovah, at the opening of the tent of meeting; and they finish to apportion the land.
This is the land which was given by Eleazar the religious leader, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the houses of the families of the people of Israel. It was given by drawing names in Shiloh before the Lord at the door of the meeting tent. So they finished dividing the land.
