1 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
Then the Lord said to Moses,
2 ` Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, When a man or woman doeth singularly, by vowing a vow of a Nazarite, to be separate to Jehovah;
“Say to the people of Israel, ‘A man or woman may make a special promise, the promise of a Nazirite, to set himself apart to the Lord.
3 f rom wine and strong drink he doth keep separate; vinegar of wine, and vinegar of strong drink he doth not drink, and any juice of grapes he doth not drink, and grapes moist or dry he doth not eat;
Then he must keep away from wine and strong drink. He will drink no sour wine, made from wine or strong drink. He will not drink any grape drink. And he will not eat new or dried grapes.
4 a ll days of his separation, of anything which is made of the wine-vine, from kernels even unto husk, he doth not eat.
All the days he is set apart, he must not eat anything made from the grape-field, not even the seeds or the skins.
5 ` All days of the vow of his separation a razor doth not pass over his head; till the fulness of the days which he doth separate to Jehovah he is holy; grown up hath the upper part of the hair of his head.
‘No hair of his head will be cut, all the days of his promise to be set apart. He must be holy until the time is finished for which he set himself apart to the Lord. He will let the hair on his head grow long.
6 ` All days of his keeping separate to Jehovah, near a dead person he doth not go;
‘All the days he is set apart to the Lord, he must not go near a dead person.
7 f or his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister -- he is not unclean for them at their death, for the separation of his God on his head;
He must not allow himself to be made unclean when his father, mother, brother or sister die. For he has made a promise to be set apart to God.
8 a ll days of his separation he holy to Jehovah.
He is holy to the Lord all the days he is set apart.
9 ` And when the dead dieth beside him in an instant, suddenly, and he hath defiled the head of his separation, then he hath shaved his head in the day of his cleansing; on the seventh day he doth shave it,
‘But if a man dies next to him, making his hair unclean which had been set apart to the Lord, then he must cut all the hair from his head on the day he is made clean. He will cut it off on the seventh day.
10 a nd on the eighth day he bringeth in two turtle-doves or two young pigeons unto the priest, unto the opening of the tent of meeting,
On the eighth day he must bring two turtle-doves or two young pigeons to the religious leader, to the door of the meeting tent.
11 a nd the priest hath prepared one for a sin-offering, and one for a burnt-offering, and hath made atonement for him, because of that which he hath sinned by the body, and he hath hallowed his head on that day;
The religious leader will give one for a sin gift and the other for a burnt gift. He will pay for his sin because of the dead person. And he will make his head holy that same day.
12 a nd he hath separated to Jehovah the days of his separation, and he hath brought in a lamb, a son of a year, for a guilt-offering, and the former days are fallen, for his separation hath been defiled.
He will set apart to the Lord his days as a Nazirite. And he will bring a year old male lamb for a guilt gift. But the past days will be a loss, because he had become unclean during the time he was set apart.
13 ` And this the law of the Nazarite; in the day of the fulness of the days of his separation doth bring him in unto the opening of the tent of meeting,
‘This is the Law of the Nazirite when the time he is set apart is finished. He must bring the gift to the door of the meeting tent.
14 a nd he hath brought near his offering to Jehovah, one he-lamb, a son of a year, a perfect one, for a burnt-offering, and one she-lamb, a daughter of a year, a perfect one, for a sin-offering, and one ram, a perfect one, for peace-offerings,
He will give his gift to the Lord. It will be a perfect male lamb a year old for a burnt gift, one perfect female lamb a year old for a sin gift, and one perfect ram for a peace gift.
15 a nd a basket of unleavened things of flour, cakes mixed with oil, and thin cakes of unleavened things anointed with oil, and their present, and their libations.
And he will give a basket of bread made of fine flour mixed with oil, made without yeast. He will give hard bread spread with oil and made without yeast. With them he will give their grain gift and drink gifts.
16 ` And the priest hath brought near before Jehovah, and hath made his sin-offering and his burnt-offering;
Then the religious leader will give all these to the Lord and his sin gift and his burnt gift.
17 a nd the ram he maketh a sacrifice of peace-offerings to Jehovah, besides the basket of unleavened things; and the priest hath made its present and its libation.
He will also give the ram for peace gifts to the Lord, together with the basket of bread made without yeast. Then the religious leader will give its grain gift and drink gift.
18 ` And the Nazarite hath shaved (at the opening of the tent of meeting) the head of his separation, and hath taken the hair of the head of his separation, and hath put on the fire which under the sacrifice of the peace-offerings.
Then at the door of the meeting tent the Nazirite will cut off the hair that has been set apart for holy use. He is to take the hair and put it in the fire under the peace gifts.
19 ` And the priest hath taken the boiled shoulder from the ram, and one unleavened cake out of the basket, and one thin unleavened cake, and hath put on the palms of the Nazarite after his shaving his separation;
The religious leader will take the shoulder of the ram when it has been boiled and a loaf of bread and a piece of hard bread, both made without yeast and put them in the hands of the Nazirite. This is done after he has cut off the hair that has been set apart.
20 a nd the priest hath waved them, a wave-offering before Jehovah; it holy to the priest, besides the breast of the wave-offering, and besides the leg of the heave-offering; and afterwards doth the Nazarite drink wine.
The religious leader will wave them for a wave gift before the Lord. They are holy and belong to the religious leader, together with the breast given as a wave gift and the thigh given by lifting it up. After that the Nazirite may drink wine.’
21 ` This the law of the Nazarite, who voweth his offering to Jehovah for his separation, apart from that which his hand attaineth; according to his vow which he voweth so he doth by the law of his separation.'
“This is the Law of the Nazirite who makes a promise to give to the Lord what he promised as a Nazirite, and whatever else he is able to give. He must do what he has promised by the Law of being set apart as a Nazirite.” Religious Leaders Bring Good to the People
22 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
Then the Lord said to Moses,
23 ` Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, saying, Thus ye do bless the sons of Israel, saying to them,
“Say to Aaron and his sons, ‘This is the way you should bring good to the people of Israel. Say to them,
24 ` Jehovah bless thee and keep thee;
“May the Lord bring good to you and keep you.
25 ` Jehovah cause His face to shine upon thee, and favour thee;
May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be kind to you.
26 ` Jehovah lift up His countenance upon thee, and appoint for thee -- peace.
May the Lord show favor toward you, and give you peace.”’
27 ` And they have put My name upon the sons of Israel, and I -- I do bless them.'
So they will put My name upon the people of Israel, and I will bring good to them.”
