1 A Psalm of David. Ascribe to Jehovah, ye sons of the mighty, Ascribe to Jehovah honour and strength.

Give to the Lord, O sons of the powerful. Give to the Lord shining-greatness and strength.

2 A scribe to Jehovah the honour of His name, Bow yourselves to Jehovah, In the beauty of holiness.

Give to the Lord the honor that belongs to Him. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holy living.

3 T he voice of Jehovah on the waters, The God of glory hath thundered, Jehovah on many waters.

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters. The God of shining-greatness thunders. The Lord is over many waters.

4 T he voice of Jehovah with power, The voice of Jehovah with majesty,

The voice of the Lord is powerful. The voice of the Lord is great.

5 T he voice of Jehovah shivering cedars, Yea, Jehovah shivers the cedars of Lebanon.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars. Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the tall cedars of Lebanon.

6 A nd He causeth them to skip as a calf, Lebanon and Sirion as a son of Reems,

He makes Lebanon jump like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild bull.

7 T he voice of Jehovah is hewing fiery flames,

The voice of the Lord sends out lightning.

8 T he voice of Jehovah paineth a wilderness, Jehovah paineth the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord shakes the desert. The Lord shakes the desert of Kadesh.

9 T he voice of Jehovah paineth the oaks, And maketh bare the forests, And in His temple every one saith, `Glory.'

The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth, and tears away the leaves of the trees. And in His holy house everything says, “Honor to God!”

10 J ehovah on the deluge hath sat, And Jehovah sitteth king -- to the age,

The Lord sat as King over the flood. The Lord sits as King forever.

11 J ehovah strength to his people giveth, Jehovah blesseth His people with peace!

The Lord will give strength to His people. The Lord will give His people peace.
