1 I n Thee, O Jehovah, I have trusted, Let me not be ashamed to the age.
I have a safe place in you, O Lord. Let me never be ashamed.
2 I n Thy righteousness Thou dost deliver me, And dost cause me to escape, Incline unto me Thine ear, and save me.
Because You are right and good, take me out of trouble. Turn Your ear to me and save me.
3 B e to me for a rock -- a habitation, To go in continually, Thou hast given command to save me, For my rock and my bulwark Thou.
Be a rock to me where I live, where I may always come and where I will be safe. For You are my rock and my safe place.
4 O my God, cause me to escape From the hand of the wicked, From the hand of the perverse and violent.
O my God, take me from the hand of the sinful, from the hand of the wrong-doer and the man without pity.
5 F or Thou my hope, O Lord Jehovah, My trust from my youth.
For You are my hope, O Lord God. You are my trust since I was young.
6 B y Thee I have been supported from the womb, From my mother's bowels Thou dost cut me out, In Thee my praise continually.
You have kept me safe from birth. It was You Who watched over me from the day I was born. My praise is always of You.
7 A s a wonder I have been to many, And Thou my strong refuge.
I have become a wonder and surprise to many. For You are my strong safe place.
8 F illed is my mouth Thy praise, All the day Thy beauty.
My mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your honor all day long.
9 C ast me not off at the time of old age, According to the consumption of my power forsake me not.
Do not let me fall by the way when I am old. Do not leave me alone when my strength is gone.
10 F or mine enemies have spoken against me, And those watching my soul have taken counsel together,
For those who hate me talk against me. Those who want to kill make plans together.
11 S aying, `God hath forsaken him, Pursue and catch him, for there is no deliverer.'
They say, “God has turned away from him. Run and catch him, for there is no one to take him out of trouble.”
12 O God, be not far from me, O my God, for my help make haste.
O God, do not be far from me! O my God, hurry to help me!
13 T hey are ashamed, they are consumed, Who are opposing my soul, They are covered reproach and blushing, Who are seeking my evil,
Let those who are against me be ashamed and destroyed. Let those who want to hurt me be without honor and covered with shame.
14 A nd I continually do wait with hope, And have added unto all Thy praise.
But as for me, I will always have hope and I will praise You more and more.
15 M y mouth recounteth Thy righteousness, All the day Thy salvation, For I have not known the numbers.
My mouth will tell about how right and good You are and about Your saving acts all day long. For there are more than I can know.
16 I come in the might of the Lord Jehovah, I mention Thy righteousness -- Thine only.
I will come in the strength of the Lord God. I will tell about how right and good You are, and You alone.
17 G od, Thou hast taught me from my youth, And hitherto I declare Thy wonders.
O God, You have taught me from when I was young. And I still tell about Your great works.
18 A nd also unto old age and grey hairs, O God, forsake me not, Till I declare Thy strength to a generation, To every one that cometh Thy might.
Even when I am old and my hair is turning white, O God, do not leave me alone. Let me tell about Your strength to all the people living now, and about Your power to all who are to come.
19 A nd Thy righteousness, O God, unto the heights, Because Thou hast done great things, O God, who like Thee?
O God, You are right and good, as the heavens are high. You have done great things, O God. Who is like You?
20 B ecause Thou hast showed me many and sad distresses, Thou turnest back -- Thou revivest me, And from the depths of the earth, Thou turnest back -- Thou bringest me up.
You have shown me many troubles of all kinds. But You will make me strong again. And You will bring me up again from deep in the earth.
21 T hou dost increase my greatness, And Thou surroundest -- Thou comfortest me,
Add to my greatness, and turn to comfort me.
22 I also thank Thee with a vessel of psaltery, Thy truth, O my God, I sing to Thee with a harp, O Holy One of Israel,
O my God, I will praise You with a harp. I will praise Your truth. I will sing praises to You with different kinds of harps, O Holy One of Israel.
23 M y lips cry aloud when I sing praise to Thee, And my soul that Thou hast redeemed,
My lips will call out for joy when I sing praises to You. You have set my soul free.
24 M y tongue also all the day uttereth Thy righteousness, Because ashamed -- because confounded, Have been those seeking my evil!
My tongue will tell about how right and good You are all day long. For those who want to hurt me are ashamed and troubled.
