1 - - A Psalm of Asaph. God hath stood in the company of God, In the midst God doth judge.

God takes His stand in the great meeting of His people. He judges among the rulers.

2 T ill when do ye judge perversely? And the face of the wicked lift up? Selah.

How long will you rulers be wrong in how you judge? How long will you show favor to the sinful?

3 J udge ye the weak and fatherless, The afflicted and the poor declare righteous.

Do the right thing for the weak and those without a father. Stand up for the rights of those who are suffering and in need.

4 L et the weak and needy escape, From the hand of the wicked deliver them.

Save the weak and those in need. Set them free from the hand of the sinful.

5 T hey knew not, nor do they understand, In darkness they walk habitually, Moved are all the foundations of earth.

They know nothing; they understand nothing. They walk around in the dark. All that the earth is built upon is shaking.

6 I -- I have said, `Gods ye, And sons of the Most High -- all of you,

I said, “You are gods. You are all sons of the Most High.

7 B ut as man ye die, and as one of the heads ye fall,

But you will die like men, and fall like one of the princes.”

8 R ise, O God, judge the earth, For Thou hast inheritance among all the nations!

Rise up, O God! Say who is guilty or not guilty upon the earth! For all the nations belong to You.
