Job 36 ~ Job 36

1 I korero ano a Erihu, i mea,

¶ And Elihu added and said,

2 T ukua ahau, kia iti nei, a ka whakaatu ahau ki a koe; he kupu ano hoki aku mo ta te Atua.

Wait for me a little, and I will teach thee; for I yet speak on God’s behalf.

3 K a tikina atu e ahau toku mohio i tawhiti, ka whakatikaia e ahau ta toku Kaihanga.

I will take my knowledge from afar and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

4 E kore rawa hoki aku kupu e teka: tenei kei a koe te tangata kua tino nui tona matauranga.

For truly my words are not lies; for I share perfect knowledge with thee.

5 N ana, he pakari te Atua, e kore ano ia e whakahawea: pakari tonu te kaha o tona matauranga.

¶ Behold, God is mighty and does not despise; he is mighty in virtue of heart.

He shall not give life to the wicked; but to the poor he shall give their right.

He shall not withdraw his eyes from the righteous; but with kings he shall place them on the throne for ever, and they shall be exalted.

And if they were bound in fetters and captive in cords of affliction,

9 N a ka whakakitea e ia ki a ratou ta ratou mahi, me o ratou he, i mea ai ratou i nga mea whakapehapeha.

then he shall show them their work and that their rebellions prevailed.

He opens their ear to instruction and commands that they turn from iniquity.

11 K i te rongo ratou, a ka mahi ki a ia, ka pau o ratou ra i runga i te pai, o ratou tau i runga i nga ahuareka.

If they hearken and serve him, they shall spend their days in goodness and their years in delight.

But if they do not hearken, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

13 K o te hunga whakaponokore o ratou ngakau, puranga rawa i a ratou te riri; kahore a ratou karanga awhina ina herea ratou e ia.

But the hypocrites in heart shall irritate him more; they shall not cry out when he binds them.

14 K a mate ratou i te taitamarikitanga, a ka ngaro to ratou ora i roto i te hunga poke.

Their soul shall die in youth, and their life is among the male pagan cult prostitutes.

15 K o tana he whakaora i te rawakore ina mate, e whakapuaretia ana e ia o ratou taringa ina tukinotia.

¶ He shall deliver the poor from his poverty, and in affliction shall open their ears.

Likewise, he would have removed thee out of the mouth of anguish into a broad place where there is no distress and should have set thy table full of fatness.

But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked, against the judgment and the justice that sustain everything.

18 N a i te mea he riri tenei, kia tupato kei riro koe i te nui o au rawa; aua hoki koe e whakapeautia e te nui o te utu.

Therefore it is to be feared that he take thee away with a stroke, which cannot be avoided even with a great ransom.

19 E ranea ranei ou rawa, e kore ai koe e taka he? nga uaua katoa ranei o tou kaha?

Will he esteem thy riches? No, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.

Do not desire the night, when he cuts people off in their place.

Take heed, do not regard iniquity, to choose it rather than poverty.

22 N ana, ko te Atua, ko tona kaha hei whakanui, ko wai te kaiwhakaako hei rite mona?

Behold, God is exalted by his power; what teacher is like him?

23 K o wai te kaitohutohu i te ara mona? Ko wai hei mea, Kua he tau mahi?

Who has prescribed his way unto him? Or who shall say unto him, Thou hast wrought iniquity?

24 K ia mahara kia whakanuia e koe tana mahi, e waiatatia nei e te tangata.

¶ Remember to magnify his work, which men behold.

25 K ua tirohia nei e nga tangata katoa e matakitakina mai nei e te tangata i tawhiti.

Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.

26 N ana, he nui te Atua, e kore ano e mohiotia e tatou; e kore ano hoki te maha o ona tau e taea te rapu atu.

Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

27 K o ia nei hei ngongo ake i nga pata wai, ka tauia i tona kohu hei awha:

For he detains the drops of water; when the rain pours down rain out of its vapour,

which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.

29 A e ra, e mohiotia ana ranei e tetahi nga horahanga o nga kapua, te ngangau o tona tapenakara?

Shall you understand the spreadings of the clouds or the noise of his tent?

30 N ana, e horahia ana e ia tona marama a tawhio noa i a ia; e hipokina ana hoki e ia te takere o te moana.

Behold, he spreads his light upon it and covers the roots of the sea.

31 K o ana mea hoki ena hei whakawa mo nga iwi, nui tonu te kai e homai ana e ia.

For by them he judges the peoples; he gives food to the multitude.

32 E hipokina ana e ia ona ringa ki te uira, a whakahaua iho e ia te wahi e pa atu ai.

With the clouds he covers the light and commands them to come against the light.

33 H ei kaiwhakaatu i a ia tona haruru, e waitohu ana hoki ki nga kararehe i te tupuhi meake puta mai.

The one gives news of the other; the one acquires wrath against the one that comes.
