1 A nd God spake all these words, saying,

وَتَكَلَّمَ اللهُ بِكُلِّ هَذا الكَلامِ فَقالَ:

2 I am Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

«أنا إلَهُكَ الَّذِي أخْرَجَكَ مِنْ أرْضِ مِصرَ، مِنْ بَيْتِ العُبُودِيَّةِ.

3 T hou shalt have no other gods before me.

«لا تَعْبُدْ آلِهَةً أُخْرَى مَعِي.

4 T hou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

«لا تَصنَعْ لِنَفسِكَ تَمثالاً بِأيِّ شَكلٍ مِمّا فِي السَّماواتِ مِنْ فَوقُ، أوْ عَلَى الأرْضِ مِنْ تَحتُ، أوْ فِي الماءِ مِنْ تَحتِ الأرْضِ.

5 T hou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me,

لا تَسجُدَ لَها أوْ تَعبُدَها، لِأنِّي أنا إلَهَكَ إلَهٌ غَيُّورٌ. أحْسِبُ خَطايا الآباءِ فِي أولادِهِمْ وَأحْفَادِهِمْ وَأولادِ أحْفادِهِمُ مِنَ الَّذينَ يُبغِضُونَنِي.

6 a nd showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

لَكِنِّي أُحسِنُ لِلَّذينَ يُحِبُّونَنِي وَيَحفَظُونَ وَصايايَ إلَى الجِيلِ الألفِ.

7 T hou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

«لا تَنْطِقْ بِاسْمِ إلَهِكَ عَبَثاً، لِأنَّ اللهَ لَنْ يُبَرِّئَ مَنْ يَنْطِقُ بِاسْمِهِ عَبَثاً.

8 R emember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

«تَنَبَّهْ لِيَومِ السَّبتِ وَخَصِّصْهُ للهِ.

9 S ix days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work;

تَعمَلُ سِتَّةَ أيّامٍ تُنْهِي فِيها مَا عَلَيكَ مِنْ أعْمالٍ.

10 b ut the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

وَأمّا اليَومُ السَّابِعُ فَهُوَ سَبتٌ، أيْ راحَةٌ، إكْراماً لإلَهِكَ. فَلا تَعمَلْ أيَّ عَمَلٍ فِيهِ، لا أنتَ وَلا ابْنُكَ وَلا ابْنَتُكَ وَلا عَبْدُكَ وَلا جارِيَتُكَ، وَلا حَيواناتُكَ، وَلا الغَرِيبُ المُقِيمُ فِي مُدُنِكَ.

11 f or in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

فَاللهُ خَلَقَ السَّماءَ وَالأرْضَ وَالبِحارَ وَكُلَّ ما فِيها فِي سِتَّةِ أيّامٍ، وَاستَراحَ فِي اليَومِ السّابِعِ. لِهَذا بارَكَ اللهُ اليَومَ السّابِعَ وَقَدَّسَهُ.

12 H onor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

«أكرِمْ أباكَ وَأُمَّكَ، لِكَي يَطُولَ عُمْرُكَ عَلَى الأرْضِ الَّتِي يُعطِيها إلَهُكَ لَكَ.

13 T hou shalt not kill.

«لا تَقْتُلْ.

14 T hou shalt not commit adultery.

«لا تَزْنِ.

15 T hou shalt not steal.

«لا تَسْرِقْ.

16 T hou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

«لا تَشْهَدْ عَلَى صَاحِبِكَ زُوراً.

17 T hou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.

«لا تَشْتَهِ بَيتَ صَاحِبِكَ، وَلا تَشْتَهِ زَوجَتَهُ أوْ عَبدَهُ أوْ جارِيَتَهُ أوْ ثَورَهُ أوْ حِمارَهُ، أوْ أيَّ شَيءٍ يَخُصُّ صاحِبَكَ.» خَوفُ الشَّعبِ مِنَ الله

18 A nd all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off.

وَرَأى الشَّعبُ الرَّعدَ وَالبَرقَ وَالدُّخانَ الَّذِي عَلَى الجَبَلِ، وَسَمِعُوا صَوتَ البُوقِ. فارتَعَدَ الشَّعبُ خَوفاً وَوَقَفُوا مِنْ بَعِيدٍ

19 A nd they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

وَقالُوا لِمُوسَى: «تَكَلَّمْ أنْتَ إلَينا فَنَسمَعُكَ. لَكِنْ قُلْ للهِ أنْ لا يَتَكَلَّمَ إلَينا لِئَلّا نَمُوتَ.»

20 A nd Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not.

وَقالَ مُوسَى لِلشَّعبِ: «لا تَخافُوا، لِأنَّ اللهَ قَدْ جاءَ لِيَمتَحِنَكُمْ، كَي تَهابُوهُ وَلا تُخطِئُوا.»

21 A nd the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

فَوَقَفَ الشَّعبُ مِنْ بَعِيدٍ، وَأمّا مُوسَى فَاقتَرَبَ إلَى السَّحابَةِ الكَثِيفَةِ الَّتِي كانَ اللهُ فِيها.

22 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

وَقالَ اللهُ لِمُوسَى: «هَذا ما تَقُولُهُ لِبَنِي إسْرائِيلَ: ‹هَا إنَّنِي قَدْ تَكَلَّمْتُ مَعَكُمْ مِنَ السَّماءِ.

23 Y e shall not make other gods with me; gods of silver, or gods of gold, ye shall not make unto you.

فَلا تَصنَعُوا لَكُمْ آلِهَةً مِنَ الفِضَّةِ أوِ الذَّهَبِ لِتَعبُدُوها مَعِي، وَلا تَصنَعُوها لِأنفُسِكُمْ.›

24 A n altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in every place where I record my name I will come unto thee and I will bless thee.

«اصْنَعْ لِي مَذْبَحاً مِنْ تُرَابٍ، وَاذْبَحْ عَلَيهِ الذَّبائِحَ الصّاعِدَةَ وَتَقدِماتِ السَّلامِ مِنْ غَنَمِكَ وَبَقَرِكَ. افعَلْ ذَلِكَ فِي كُلِّ مَكانٍ أُحَدِّدُهُ لِذِكْرِ اسْمِي. فَآتِي إلَيكَ وَأُبارِكُكَ.

25 A nd if thou make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones; for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

«وَإنْ صَنَعتَ لِي مَذبَحاً مِنْ حِجارَةٍ، فابْنِهِ مِنْ حِجارَةٍ لُمْ تُشَّذَبْ بِإزْميلٍ. إنِ استَخدَمْتَ الإزْمِيلَ تُنَجِّسُها.

26 N either shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not uncovered thereon.

وَلا تَصعَدْ إلَى مَذبَحِي عَلَى سُلَّمٍ لِئَلّا يَنكَشِفَ عُرْيُكَ.»
