1 A nd it came to pass, as he was praying in a certain place, that when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples.

وَكانَ يَسُوعُ يُصَلِّي فِي مَكانٍ ما. وَلَمّا انتَهَى مِنَ الصَّلاةِ، قالَ لَهُ واحِدٌ مِنْ تَلامِيذِهِ: «عَلِّمْنا أنْ نُصَلِّي يا رَبُّ، كَما عَلَّمَ يُوحَنّا المَعْمَدانُ تَلامِيذَهُ.»

2 A nd he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Father, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.

فَقالَ لَهُمْ: «حِيْنَ تُصَلُّونَ قُولُوا: ‹يا أبانا، لِيَتَقَدَّسِ اسْمُكَ. لِيَأْتِ مَلَكُوتُكَ.

3 G ive us day by day our daily bread.

أعطِنا خُبزَنا كَفافَ يَومِنا،

4 A nd forgive us our sins; for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation.

وَاغفِرْ لَنا خَطايانا، كَما نَغفِرُ نَحنُ أيضاً لِلَّذِينَ يُسِيئُونَ إلَينا. وَلا تُدْخِلنا فِي تَجرِبَةِ.›» وَاصِلُوا الطَّلَب

5 A nd he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

ثُمَّ قالَ لَهُمْ: «لِنَفرِضْ أنَّهُ كانَ لِأحَدِكُمْ صَدِيقٌ، فَذَهَبَ إلَيهِ فِي مُنتَصَفِ اللَّيلِ وَقالَ لَهُ: ‹يا صَدِيقِي، أقرِضْنِي ثَلاثَةَ أرغِفَةٍ،

6 f or a friend of mine is come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him;

فَقَدْ جاءَ إلَيَّ ضَيفٌ مُسافِرٌ، وَلَيسَ لَدَيَّ شَيءٌ أضَعُهُ أمامَهُ.›

7 a nd he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee?

فَأجابَهُ الرَّجُلُ مِنَ الدّاخِلِ: ‹لا تُزعِجْنِي! فَالبابُ مُقفَلٌ، وَأبنائِي فِي الفِراشِ. فَلا يُمكِنُنِي أنْ أنهَضَ لِأُعطِيَكَ.›

8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will arise and give him as many as he needeth.

أقُولُ لَكُمْ، إنَّهُ سَيَنهَضُ وَيُعطِيهِ قَدْرَ ما يَحتاجُ. رُبَّما لَنْ يُعطِيَهُ بِسَبَبِ صَداقَتِهِما، لَكِنَّهُ سَيُعطِيهِ بِسَبَبِ إلحاحِهِ الشَّدِيدِ.

9 A nd I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

«لِهَذا أقُولُ لَكُمْ: اطلُبُوا تُعْطَوا، اسعُوا تَجِدُوا، اقرَعُوا يُفتَحْ لَكُمْ.

10 F or every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

لِأنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ يَطلُبُ يَنالُ، وَكُلَّ مَنْ يَسعَى يَجِدُ، وَمَنْ يَقرَعُ يُفتَحُ لَهُ.

11 A nd of which of you that is a father shall his son ask a loaf, and he give him a stone? or a fish, and he for a fish give him a serpent?

أيُّ أبٍ بَينَكُمْ يُعطِي ابنَهُ حَيَّةً حِينَ يَطلُبُ مِنهُ سَمَكَةً؟

12 O r if he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?

أوْ يُعطِيهِ عَقرَباً حِينَ يَطلُبُ مِنهُ بَيضَةً؟

13 I f ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

أنتُمْ، رُغمَ شَرِّكُمْ، تَعرِفُونَ كَيفَ تُعطُونَ أبناءَكُمْ عَطايا حَسَنَةً. أفَلَيْسَ الآبُ السَّماوِيُّ أجدَرَ بِكَثِيرٍ بِأنْ يُعطِيَ الرُّوحَ القُدُسَ لِلَّذِينَ يَطلُبُونَهُ؟» قُوَّةُ يَسُوعَ مِنَ الله

14 A nd he was casting out a demon that was dumb. And it came to pass, when the demon was gone out, the dumb man spake; and the multitudes marvelled.

وَكانَ يَسُوعُ يَطرُدُ رُوحاً شِرِّيراً أخرَسَ مِنْ رَجُلٍ. فَلَمّا خَرَجَ الرُّوحُ الشِّرِّيْرُ، بَدَأ الأخرَسُ يَتَكَلَّمُ. فَذُهِلَتِ جُمُوعُ النّاسِ.

15 B ut some of them said, By Beelzebub the prince of the demons casteth he out demons.

لَكِنَّ بَعضَهُمْ قالَ: «إنَّ يَسُوعَ يَطرُدُ الأرواحَ الشِّرِّيْرَةَ بِقُوَّةِ بَعلَزَبُولَ، رَئِيْسِ تِلكَ الأرواحِ.»

16 A nd others, trying him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

لَكِنَّ آخَرِيْنَ طَلَبُوا مِنهُ بُرهاناً مِنَ السَّماءِ بِقَصْدِ امتِحانِهِ.

17 B ut he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

فَعَرَفَ ما فِي أذهانِهِمْ فَقالَ لَهُمْ: «إنَّ مَصِيرَ كُلِّ مَملَكَةٍ يَنقَسِمُ أهلُها وَيَتَحارَبُونَ هُوَ الخَرابُ. وَمَصِيرُ كُلِّ بَيتٍ يَنقَسِمُ أهلُهُ وَيَتَحارَبُونَ هُوَ السُّقُوطُ.

18 A nd if Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out demons by Beelzebub.

فَإذا كانَ الشَّيطانُ مُنقَسِماً وَيُحارِبُ ذاتَهُ، فَكَيفَ يُمكِنُ أنْ تَصمُدَ مَملَكَتَهُ؟ لِأنَّكُمْ تَقُولُونَ إنِّي أطرُدُ الأرواحَ الشِّرِّيرَةَ بِقُوَّةِ بَعلَزَبُولَ.

19 A nd if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

إنْ كُنتُ أنا أطرُدُ الأرواحَ الشِّرِّيْرَةَ بِقُوَّةِ بَعلَزَبُولَ، فَبِماذا يَطرُدُها تَلامِيذُكُمْ؟ فَهُمُ الَّذِينَ يَحكُمُونَ عَلَيكُمْ.

20 B ut if I by the finger of God cast out demons, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.

لَكِنْ إنْ كُنتُ أطرُدُ الأرواحَ الشِّرِّيرَةَ بِقُوَّةِ اللهِ، فَقَدْ صارَ وَاضِحاً أنَّ مَلَكُوتَ اللهِ قَدْ جاءَ إلَيكُمْ.

21 W hen the strong man fully armed guardeth his own court, his goods are in peace:

«حِينَ يَكُونُ رَجُلٌ قَوِيٌّ مُسَلَّحاً تَسلِيحاً كامِلاً وَيَحرُسُ بَيتَهُ، تَكُونُ مُقتَنَياتُهُ آمِنَةً.

22 b ut when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him his whole armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

لَكِنْ حِينَ يَأْتِي مَنْ هُوَ أقوَى مِنهُ وَيُهاجِمُهُ وَيَهزِمُهُ، فَإنَّهُ يَأْخُذُ كُلَّ أسلِحَتِهِ الَّتِي كانَ يَتَّكِلُ عَلَيها، ثُمَّ يَقتَسِمُ الغَنائِمَ مَعَ آخَرِينَ.

23 H e that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

مَنْ لَيسَ مَعي فَهُوَ ضِدِّي. وَمَنْ لا يَجمَعُ مَعِي فَهُوَ يُبَعثِرُ.» الإنسانُ الفارِغ

24 T he unclean spirit when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and finding none, he saith, I will turn back unto my house whence I came out.

وَقالَ: «عِندَما يَخرُجُ رُوحٌ نَجِسٌ مِنْ إنسانٍ، فَإنَّهُ يَجتازُ أماكِنَ جافَّةً ساعِياً إلَى مَكانِ راحَةٍ. وَحينَ لا يَجِدُ مَكانَ راحَةٍ، يَقُولُ: ‹سَأعُودُ إلَى بَيتِي الَّذِي جِئتُ مِنهُ.›

25 A nd when he is come, he findeth it swept and garnished.

فَيَذهَبُ وَيَجِدُ البَيتَ مُكَنَّساً وَمُرَتَّباً.

26 T hen goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more evil than himself; and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first.

حينَئِذٍ يَذهَبُ وَيُحضِرُ سَبعَةَ أرواحٍ أُخَرَ تَفُوقُهُ شَرّاً، فَتَدخُلُ وَتَسكُنُ هُناكَ. وَهَكَذا تَكُونُ حالَةُ ذَلِكَ الإنسانِ الأخِيْرَةِ أسوَأ مِنْ حالَتِهِ الأُولَى.» السَّعادَةُ الحَقيقيَّة

27 A nd it came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck.

وَلَمّا قالَ يَسُوعُ هَذِهِ الأشياءَ، رَفَعَتِ امْرأةٌ بَينَ النّاسِ صَوتَها وَقالَتْ: «هَنِيئاً لِلبَطنِ الَّذِي حَمَلَكَ، وَلِلثَّديَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ أرْضَعاكَ!»

28 B ut he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

فَقالَ: «بَلْ هَنِيئاً لِلَّذِينَ يَسمَعُونَ كَلامَ اللهِ وَيُطِيعُونَهُ!» المُطالَبَةُ بِبُرهان

29 A nd when the multitudes were gathering together unto him, he began to say, This generation is an evil generation: it seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah.

وَبَيْنَما كانَتْ جُمُوعُ النّاسِ تَتَزايَدُ، قالَ يَسُوعُ: «هَذا الجِيلُ شِرِّيرٌ. يَبحَثُ عَنْ بُرهانٍ لِكَي يُؤمِنَ. وَلَنْ يُعطَى إلّا بُرْهانَ يُونانَ.

30 F or even as Jonah became a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.

لِأنَّهُ كَما كانَ يُونانُ بُرهاناً لِأهلِ نِينَوَى، سَيَكُونُ ابنُ الإنسانِ بُرهاناً لِهَذا الجِيلِ.

31 T he queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

«سَتَقِفُ مَلِكَةُ الجَنُوبِ يَومَ الدَّينُونَةِ ضِدَّ هَذا الجِيلِ، وَسَتُبَيِّنُ أنَّهُمْ مُخطِئُونَ. فَقَدْ جاءَتْ مِنْ أقاصِي الأرْضِ لِكَيْ تَسمَعَ حِكمَةَ سُلَيْمانَ. وَالآنَ هُنا أمامَكُمْ مَنْ هُوَ أعظَمُ مِنْ سُلَيْمانَ.

32 T he men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.

«كَذَلِكَ سَيَقِفُ أهلُ نِينَوَى يَومَ الدَّينُونَةِ ضِدَّ هَذا الجِيلِ، وَسَيَدِينُونَهُ لأنَّهُمْ تابُوا إذْ سَمِعوا تَحذِيْرَ يُونانَ. وَالآنَ هُنا أمامَكُمْ مَنْ هُوَ أعظَمُ مِنْ يُونانَ.» كُونُوا نُوراً لِلعالَم

33 N o man, when he hath lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, neither under the bushel, but on the stand, that they which enter in may see the light.

وَقالَ يَسُوعُ: «ما مِنْ أحَدٍ يُشعِلُ مِصباحاً وَيَضَعُهُ فِي مَخبَأٍ أوْ تَحتَ إناءٍ، بَلْ يَضَعُهُ عَلَى حَمّالَةٍ لِلمَصابِيْحِ لِكَيْ يَستَطِيعَ الدّاخِلُونَ أنْ يَرَوا النُّورَ.

34 T he lamp of thy body is thine eye: when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when it is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

وَسِراجُ جَسَدِكَ هُوَ عَينُكَ. فَإنْ كانَتْ عَيناكَ صالِحَتَيْنِ، فَإنَّ جَسَدَكَ كُلُّهُ سَيَمتَلِئُ نُوراً. لَكِنْ إنْ كانَتا غَيْرَ صالِحَتَينِ، فَإنَّ جَسَدَكَ أيضاً سَيَمتَلِئُ بِالظُّلمَةِ.

35 L ook therefore whether the light that is in thee be not darkness.

فَاحذَرْ مِنْ أنْ يَكُونَ النُّورُ الَّذِي فِيكَ ظُلمَةً فِي حَقِيقَتِهِ!

36 I f therefore thy whole body be full of light, having no part dark, it shall be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining doth give thee light.

فَإنْ كانَ جَسَدُكَ كُلُّهُ مَلِيئاً بِالنُّورِ، وَلَيسَ فِيهِ جانِبٌ مُظلِمٌ، فَسَيَكُونُ كُلُّهُ مُضاءً كَما لَوْ أنَّ مِصباحاً مُنِيراً قَدْ أشرَقَ عَلَيكَ.» يَسُوعُ يُوَبِّخِ الفِرِّيسِيِّين

37 N ow as he spake, a Pharisee asketh him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.

وَبَعدَ أنْ أنهَى يَسُوعُ حَدِيثَهُ، دَعاهُ فِرِّيسِيٌّ لِتَناوُلِ الطَّعامِ فِي بَيتِهِ. فَدَخَلَ يَسُوعُ وَجَلَسَ إلَى المائِدَةِ.

38 A nd when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first bathed himself before dinner.

فَلاحَظَ الفِرِّيسِيُّ مُندَهِشاً أنَّ يَسُوعَ لَمْ يَغسِلْ يَدَيه أوَّلاً قَبلَ تَناوُلِ الطَّعامِ.

39 A nd the Lord said unto him, Now ye the Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.

فَقالَ لَهُ الرَّبُّ: «أنتُمِ الفِرِّيسِيِّينَ تُنَظِّفُونَ خارِجَ الكَأْسِ أوِ الطَّبَقِ، بَينَما يَملأُ الجَشَعُ وَالخُبثُ دَواخِلَكُمْ.

40 Y e foolish ones, did not he that made the outside make the inside also?

أيُّها الحَمقَى! ألَيسَ الَّذِي صَنَعَ القِسمَ الخارِجِيَّ قَدْ صَنَعَ القِسمَ الدّاخِلِيَّ أيضاً؟»

41 B ut give for alms those things which are within; and behold, all things are clean unto you.

فَاصنَعُوا رَحمَةً لِلآخَرِيْنَ مِنْ دَواخِلِكُمْ، وَهَكَذا يُصبِحُ كُلُّ شَيءٍ نَظِيفاً لَكُمْ.

42 B ut woe unto you Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over justice and the love of God: but these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

لَكِنْ وَيلٌ لَكُمْ أيُّها الفِرِّيسِيُّونَ، فَأنتُمْ تُقَدِّمونَ عُشراً مِنْ كُلِّ شَيءٍ، حَتَّى مِنَ النَّعناعِ وَالسَّذابِ وَكُلِّ النَّباتاتِ الأُخرَى، لَكِنَّكُمْ تَتَغافَلُونَ عَنِ الإنصافِ وَعَنْ مَحَبَّةِ اللهِ. كانَ عَلَيكُمْ أنْ تَفعَلُوا هَذِهِ الأُمُورَ، مِنْ دُونِ أنْ تُهمِلُوا غَيرَها.

43 W oe unto you Pharisees! for ye love the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the marketplaces.

وَيلٌ لَكُمْ أيُّها الفِرِّيسِيُّونَ، لِأنَّكُمْ تُحِبُّونَ الجُلُوسَ عَلَى أفضَلِ المَقاعِدِ فِي المَجامِعِ، وَتَلَقِّي تَحِيّاتِ الاحتِرامِ فِي الأسواقِ.

44 W oe unto you! for ye are as the tombs which appear not, and the men that walk over them know it not.

الوَيلُ لَكُمْ لِأنَّكُمْ تُشبِهُونَ قُبوراً بِلا عَلامَةٍ، يَمشِي النّاسُ عَلَيها وَهُمْ لا يَعرِفُونَ أنَّها تَحتَهُمْ!» يَسُوعُ يَتَحَدَّثُ إلَى مُعَلِّمِي اليَهُود

45 A nd one of the lawyers answering saith unto him, Teacher, in saying this thou reproachest us also.

فَقالَ لَهُ أحَدُ خُبَراءِ الشَّرِيعَةِ: «يا مُعَلِّمُ، حِينَ تَقُولُ هَذِهِ الأشياءَ، فَإنَّكَ تُهِينُنا نَحنُ أيضاً.»

46 A nd he said, Woe unto you lawyers also! for ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

فَقالَ يَسُوعُ: «وَيلٌ لَكُمْ أنتُمْ أيضاً يا خُبَراءَ الشَّرِيعَةِ، فَأنتُمْ تُرهِقُونَ النّاسَ بِأعباءٍ صَعبَةِ الحَملِ، لَكِنَّكُمْ لا تَلمَسُونَ تِلكَ الأعباءَ بِإحدَى أصابِعِكُمْ.

47 W oe unto you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

وَيلٌ لَكُمْ لِأنَّكُمْ تَبنُونَ قُبُوراً لِلأنبِياءِ، وَآباؤُكُمْ هُمُ الَّذِينَ قَتَلُوهُمْ.

48 S o ye are witnesses and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build their tombs.

فَأنتُمْ تَرَونَ أفعالَ آبائِكُمْ وَتُوافِقُونَ عَلَيها، لِأنَّهُمْ هُمِ الَّذِينَ قَتَلُوهُمْ، وَأنتُمْ تَبنُونَ قُبُورَهُمْ.

49 T herefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they shall kill and persecute;

لِهَذا قالَ حِكْمَةُ اللهِ: ‹سَأُرسِلُ لَهُمْ أنبِياءً وَرُسُلاً، فَيَقتُلُونَ مِنهُمْ بَعضاً وَيَضطَهِدُونَ بَعضاً.›

50 t hat the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

«فَسَيُحاسَبُ هَذا الجِيلُ عَلَى دَمِ كُلِّ الأنبِياءِ الَّذِي سُفِكَ مُنذُ بِدايَةِ العالَمِ:

51 f rom the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary: yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation.

مِنْ دَمِ هابِيلَ إلَى دَمِ زَكَرِيّا الَّذِي قُتِلَ بَينَ المَذبَحِ وَالهَيكَلِ. نَعَمْ، أقُولُ لَكُمْ إنَّ هَذا الجِيلَ سَيَدفَعُ ثَمَنَ ذَلِكَ الدَّمِ.

52 W oe unto you lawyers! for ye took away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

وَيلٌ لَكُمْ يا خُبَراءَ الشَّرِيعَةِ، لِأنَّكُمْ أخفَيتُمْ مِفتاحَ المَعرِفَةِ، فَلا دَخَلتُمْ أنتُمْ، وَلا سَمَحتُمْ بِالدُّخُولِ لِمَنْ يُرِيدُ.»

53 A nd when he was come out from thence, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press upon him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things;

وَبَينَما كانَ يَسُوعُ يُغادِرُ ذَلِكَ المَكانَ، اغتاظَ مِنهُ مُعَلِّمُو الشَّرِيعَةِ وَالفِرِّيسِيُّونَ كَثِيراً، وَبَدَأُوا يَستَفهِمُونَ مِنهُ بِحِدَّةٍ عَنْ مَسائِلَ كَثِيرَةٍ.

54 l aying wait for him, to catch something out of his mouth.

مُتَرَصِّدينَ لَهُ، لَعَلَّهُمْ يُمسِكُونَ عَلَيهِ مَمسَكاً فِي شَيءٍ يَقُولُهُ.
