1 A nd he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.

ثُمَّ أمَرَ يُوسُفُ الخادِمَ المَسْؤُولَ عَنْ بَيتِهِ وَقالَ لَهُ: «املأْ أكْياسَ الرِّجالِ مِنَ الطَّعامِ بِقَدْرِ ما يَسْتَطِيعُونَ أنْ يَحمِلُوا. ثُمَّ ضَعْ مالَ كُلِّ رَجُلٍ فِي كِيسِهِ.

2 A nd put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his grain money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.

وَضَعْ كَأْسِيَ الفِضِّيَّةَ عَلَى رَأْسِ كِيسِ الأخِ الأصْغَرِ مَعَ مالِهِ.» فَفَعَلَ الخادِمُ كَما أمَرَهُ يُوسُفُ.

3 A s soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.

فَلَمّا بَزَغَ الفَجْرُ أُرْسِلَ الرِّجالُ مَعَ حَمِيرِهِمْ.

4 A nd when they were gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?

وَقَبلَ أنْ يَبْتَعِدُوا كَثِيراً عَنِ المَدِينَةِ، قالَ لِلخادِمِ المَسْؤُولِ عَنِ بَيتِهِ: «الحَقْ بِهِمْ فَوراً، وَأدرِكْهُمْ. وَقُلْ لَهُمْ: ‹لِماذا قابَلْتُمُ الخَيرَ بِالشَّرِّ؟

5 I s not this that in which my lord drinketh, and whereby he indeed divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.

ألَيسَتْ هَذِهِ كَأْسُ سَيِّدِي الَّتِي يَسْتَخدِمُها لِكَشْفِ الأُمورِ الخَفِيَّةِ؟ فَلِماذا سَرَقْتُمُوها؟ قَدْ أسَأتُمْ بِفِعلَتِكُمْ هَذِهِ.›»

6 A nd he overtook them, and he spake unto them these words.

فَلَمّا أدرَكَهُمُ الخادِمُ، كَرَّرَ عَلَى مَسامِعِهِمْ كُلَّ هَذا الكَلامِ.

7 A nd they said unto him, Wherefore speaketh my lord such words as these? Far be it from thy servants that they should do such a thing.

فَقالَ لَهُ الإخْوَةُ: «لِماذا يَقُولُ سَيِّدِي كُلَّ هَذا الكَلامِ؟ لَيسَ مِنْ أخلاقِنا أنْ نَفْعَلَ مِثلَ هَذا الأمْرِ!

8 B ehold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord's house silver or gold?

ها قَدْ عُدنا إلَيكَ مِنْ أرْضِ كَنْعانَ بِالمالِ الَّذِي وَجَدْناهُ عَلَى رَأْسِ أكياسِنا. فَلِماذا نَسْرِقُ فِضَّةً أوْ ذَهَباً مِنْ بَيتِ سَيِّدِكَ؟

9 W ith whomsoever of thy servants it be found, let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.

إذا عَثَرْتَ عَلَى الكَأْسِ مَعَ أيِّ واحِدٍ مِنّا، نَحنُ خُدّامَكَ، فَلْيَكُنِ المَوْتُ مَصِيرَهُ. وَلْتُصْبِحْ بَقِيَّتُنا عَبِيداً لَدَى سَيِّدِي.»

10 A nd he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my bondman; and ye shall be blameless.

فَقالَ الخادِمُ: «حَسَناً، لِيَكُنِ الأمْرُ كَما قُلْتُمْ. فَإنْ وَجَدْتُ الكَأْسَ مَعَ أيٍّ مِنْكُمْ، فَإنَّهُ سَيَصِيرُ عَبْداً لِي. أمّا بَقِيَّتُكُمْ فَتَكُونُونَ أحْراراً.» نجاحُ الفخِّ وَالقبضُ على بَنْيامِيْن

11 T hen they hasted, and took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.

فَأسْرَعَ كُلُّ واحِدٍ بِإنْزالِ كِيسِهِ إلَى الأرْضِ وَفَتَحَهُ.

12 A nd he searched, and began at the eldest, and left off at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.

وَفَتَّشَ الخادِمُ الجَمِيعَ، بَدْءاً بِالأكْبَرِ وَانتِهاءً بِالأصْغَرِ. وَوَجَدَ الكَأْسَ فِي كِيسِ بَنْيامِيْنَ.

13 T hen they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.

فَمَزَّقَ الإخوَةُ ثِيابَهُمْ حُزْناً. وَقامَ كُلُّ واحِدٍ بِتَحمِيلِ حِمارِهِ وَالعَوْدَةِ إلَى المَدِينَةِ.

14 A nd Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; and he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.

فَلَمّا جاءَ يَهُوذا وَإخوَتُهُ إلَى بَيتِ يُوسُفَ، كانَ يُوسُفُ ما يَزالُ هُناكَ. فَألقَوْا بِأنفُسِهِمْ عَلَى الأرْضِ أمامَهُ.

15 A nd Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? know ye not that such a man as I can indeed divine?

فَقالَ لَهُمْ يُوسُفُ: «ما هَذا الَّذِي فَعَلْتُمُوهُ؟ ألا تَعرِفُونَ أنَّ الأسرارَ تُكشَفُ لِرَجُلٍ مِثلِي؟»

16 A nd Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord's bondmen, both we, and he also in whose hand the cup is found.

فَقالَ يَهُوذا: «ماذا عَسانا نَقُولُ يا سَيِّدِي؟ ماذا عَسانا نَقُولُ؟ وَكَيفَ نُبَرِّئُ أنفُسَنا؟ فَقَدْ كَشَفَ اللهُ جَرِيمَةَ خُدّامِكَ. فَها نَحْنُ بَينَ يَدَيكَ يا سَيِّدِي، نَحْنُ وَمَنْ وُجِدَتِ الكَأْسُ فِي حَوْزَتِهِ.»

17 A nd he said, Far be it from me that I should do so: the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my bondman; but as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.

فَقالَ يُوسُفُ: «لَيسَ مِنْ شِيمِي أنْ أفْعَلَ هَذا! فَالرَّجُلُ الَّذِي وُجِدَتِ الكَأْسُ فِي حَوْزَتِهِ هُوَ فَقَطْ يَكُونُ عَبْداً لِي. أمّا بَقِيَّتُكُمْ، فَيُمْكِنُكُمْ أنْ تَذْهَبُوا بِسَلامٍ إلَى أبِيكُمْ.» يَهُوذا يتضرّعُ منْ أجلِ بَنْيامِيْن

18 T hen Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh, my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant; for thou art even as Pharaoh.

غَيرَ أنَّ يَهُوذا اقْتَرَبَ مِنْ يُوسُفَ وَقالَ: «يا سَيِّدِي، اسْمَحْ لِي، أنا عَبْدَكَ، بِأنْ أقُولَ شَيئاً لَكَ، يا سَيِّدِي. وَلا تَغْضَبْ مِنِّي، أنا عَبْدَكَ. فَأنتَ فِي مَقامِ فِرعَوْنَ.

19 M y lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?

أنتَ سَألْتَنا، نَحنُ خُدّامَكَ: ‹ألَدَيكُمْ أبٌ أوْ أخٌ؟›

20 A nd we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loveth him.

فَقُلْنا لَكَ، يا سَيِّدِي: ‹لَدَينا أبٌ عَجُوزٌ، وَأخٌ أصْغَرُ وُلِدَ لِأبِينا فِي شَيخُوخَتِهِ. وَأخُوهُ مِنْ أُمِّهِ مَيتٌ. وَهَذا الأخُ الأصْغَرُ هُوَ الَّذِي بَقِيَ وَحدَهُ مِنْ أبْناءِ أُمِّهِ. وَلِهَذا فَإنَّ أباهُ يُحِبُّهُ كَثِيراً.›

21 A nd thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.

ثُمَّ طَلَبْتَ مِنّا، نَحنُ خُدّامَكَ، وَقُلْتَ: ‹أحضِرُوهُ إلَيَّ لِكَي أراهُ›

22 A nd we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.

لَكِنَّنا قُلْنا لَكَ، يا سَيِّدِي لا يَقْدِرُ الفَتَى أنْ يَتْرُكَ أباهُ. فَإنْ تَرَكَ أباهُ، ماتَ أبوْهُ مِنْ بَعدِهِ.

23 A nd thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.

ثُمَّ قُلْتَ لَنا نَحنُ خُدّامَكَ: ‹إنْ لَمْ يَنزِلْ أخُوكُمُ الأصْغَرُ مَعَكُمْ، فَلَنْ تَرُوا وَجهِي مَرَّةً أُخْرَى.›

24 A nd it came to pass when we came up unto thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

وَعِندَما صَعِدْنا إلَى خادِمِكَ، أبِينا، أخبَرْناهُ بِكُلِّ ما أخْبَرْتَنا.

25 A nd our father said, Go again, buy us a little food.

«ثُمَّ قالَ أبوْنا: ‹عُودُوا وَاشْتَرُوا طَعاماً لَنا.›

26 A nd we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man's face, expect our youngest brother be with us.

فَقُلْنا لَهُ: ‹لا نَقْدِرُ أنْ نَنزِلَ إلَى هُناكَ. أمّا إذا كانَ أخُونا مَعَنا، فَسَنَنْزِلُ. إذْ لا نَسْتَطِيعُ رُؤْيَةَ وَجهِ الحاكِمِ، ما لَمْ يَكُنْ أخُونا الأصْغَرُ مَعَنا.›

27 A nd thy servant my father said unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two sons:

فَقالَ لَنا أبوْنا خادِمُكَ: ‹أنتُمْ تَعلَمُونَ أنَّ زَوجَتِي راحِيلَ أنجَبَتْ لِي ابْنَينِ.

28 a nd the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I have not seen him since:

تَرَكَنِي أحَدُهُما، فَقُلْتُ: لا بُدَّ أنَّ حَيواناً مُفْتَرِساً مَزَّقَهُ تَمْزيقاً. وَلَمْ أرَهُ مُنذُ ذَلِكَ الحِينِ.

29 a nd if ye take this one also from me, and harm befall him, ye will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.

فَإذا أخَذْتُمْ هَذا أيضاً مِنِّي وَحَصَلَ لَهُ أذَىً، فَسَأمُوتُ رَجُلاً عَجُوزاً حَزِيناً.›

30 N ow therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad is not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life;

وَالآنَ، إنْ ذَهَبْتُ، أنا خادِمَكَ، إلَى أبِي، دُونَ أنْ يَكُونَ الفَتَى مَعِي، وَنَفْسُهُ شَدِيدَةُ التَّعَلُّقِ بِهِ،

31 i t will come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants will bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to Sheol.

سَيَمُوتُ وَالِدِي إذا رَأى أنَّ الفَتَى لَيسَ مَعَنا. وَسَنَكُونُ، نَحنُ خُدّامَكَ، قَدْ أرْسَلْنا أبانا، خادِمَكَ، إلَى القَبْرِ رَجُلاً عَجُوزاً حَزِيناً.»

32 F or thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then shall I bear the blame to my father for ever.

«فَأنا تَعَهَّدْتُ بِإرْجَاعِ الفَتَى لِأبِي، وَقُلْتُ لَهُ: ‹إنْ لَمْ أُرجِعْهُ إلَيكَ، حَمِّلْنِي ذَنْبَ ذَلِكَ كُلَّ أيّامِ حَياتِي.›

33 N ow therefore, let thy servant, I pray thee, abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.

فَالآنَ اسْمَحْ لِي، أنا خادِمَكَ، بِأنْ أبقَى هُنا عَبْداً لَكَ، يا سَيِّدِي، مَكانَ أخِي. وَدَعِ الفَتَى يَذْهَبْ مَعَ إخْوَتِهِ.

34 F or how shall I go up to my father, if the lad be not with me? lest I see the evil that shall come on my father.

وَإلّا فَكَيفَ يُمْكِنُنِي أنْ أذْهَبَ إلَى أبِي، دُونَ أنْ يَكُونَ أخِي مَعِي؟ وَكَيفَ يُمكِنُنِي أنْ أرَى المِحنَةَ الَّتِي سَتُصِيبُ أبِي؟»
