1 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

وَكَلَّمَ اللهُ مُوسَى فَقالَ:

2 S anctify unto me all the first-born, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.

«خَصِّصُوا لِي كُلَّ بِكرٍ. كُلُّ أوَّلِ مَولُودٍ فِي بَني إسْرائِيلَ مِنَ النّاسِ وَالبَهائِمِ هُوَ لِي.»

3 A nd Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand Jehovah brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

وَقالَ مُوسَى لِلشَّعبِ: «تَذَكَّرُوا هَذا اليَومَ حِينَ خَرَجتُمْ مِنْ مِصرَ، مِنْ بَيتِ العُبُودِيَّةِ. لِأنَّ اللهَ أخرَجَكُمْ بِقُوَّةِ يَدِهِ مِنْ هُناكَ. فَلا تَأكُلُوا أيَّ شَيءٍ فِيهِ خَمِيرٌ.

4 T his day ye go forth in the month Abib.

أنتُمْ تَخرُجُونَ اليَومَ فِي شَهرِ أبِيبَ.

5 A nd it shall be, when Jehovah shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.

حِينَ يُحضِرُكُمُ اللهُ إلَى أرْضِ الكَنعانِيِّينَ وَالحِثِّيِّينَ وَالأمُورِيِّينَ وَالحِوِّيِّينَ وَاليَبُوسِيِّينَ، الَّتِي أقسَمَ اللهُ لِآبائِكُمْ بِأنْ يُعطِيَها لَكُمْ، أرْضاً تَفِيضُ لَبَناً وَعَسَلاً، جَهِّزُوا خِدمَةَ الخُبزِ غَيرِ المُخْتَمِرِ فِي ذَلِكَ الشَّهرِ.

6 S even days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to Jehovah.

«تاكلُونَ خُبزاً غَيرَ مُخْتَمِرٍ لِسَبعَةِ أيّامٍ، وَفِي اليَومِ السّابِعِ يَكُونُ هُناكَ احتِفالٌ للهِ.

7 U nleavened bread shall be eaten throughout the seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee, in all thy borders.

لا تَأكُلُوا خُبزاً بِخَمِيرٍ خِلالَ هَذِهِ الأيّامِ السَّبعَةِ. وَلا يَكُنْ فِي بَيتِكَ وَلا فِي كُلِّ أرْضِكَ طَعامٌ فِيهِ خَمِيرٌ.

8 A nd thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying, It is because of that which Jehovah did for me when I came forth out of Egypt.

وَتَقُولُ لابْنِكَ فِي ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ: ‹هَذا العِيدُ تِذْكارٌ لِما صَنَعَهُ اللهُ لَنا حِينَ خَرَجْنا مِنْ مِصرَ.›

9 A nd it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thy hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the law of Jehovah may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath Jehovah brought thee out of Egypt.

«سَيَكُونُ هَذا العيدُ كَعَلامَةٍ عَلَى يَدِكَ، وَكَعُصابَةٍ تَعْقُدُها بَيْنَ عَيْنَيكَ. فَتَكُونُ شَرِيعَةُ اللهِ فِي فَمِكَ، لأنِّي أخرَجْتُكَ مِنْ مِصرَ بِقُوَّةِ يَدِي.

10 T hou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.

فَحَافِظْ عَلَى هَذِا العِيدِ فِي مَوْعِدِهِ المُحَدَّدِ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ.

11 A nd it shall be, when Jehovah shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanite, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,

«وَحِينَ يُحضِرُكَ اللهُ إلَى أرْضِ الكَنعانِيِّينَ الَّتِي أقسَمَ بِأنْ يُعطِيَها لَكَ وَلآبائِكَ،

12 t hat thou shalt set apart unto Jehovah all that openeth the womb, and every firstling which thou hast that cometh of a beast; the males shall be Jehovah's.

خَصِّصْ للهِ كُلَّ بِكْرٍ، كُلَّ أوَّلِ مَولُودٍ. جَمِيعُ أوائِلِ المَواليدِ الذُّكُورِ مِنْ حَيواناتِكَ تَكُونُ للهِ.

13 A nd every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break its neck: and all the first-born of man among thy sons shalt thou redeem.

تَفدِيَ كُلَّ بِكرِ حِمارٍ بِخَرُوفٍ. وَإنْ لَمْ تَفتَدِهِ تَكسِرْ عُنْقَهُ. يَنبَغِي أنْ تَفدِيَ كُلَّ أبْكارِكَ.

14 A nd it shall be, when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:

«وَحِينَ يَسألُكَ ابْنُكَ فِي المُستَقبَلِ: ‹ما هَذا؟› قُلْ لَهُ: ‹أخرَجَنا اللهُ بِقُوَّةِ ذِراعِهِ مِنْ أرْضِ مِصرَ، مِنْ بَيتِ العُبُودِيَّةِ.

15 a nd it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that Jehovah slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both the first-born of man, and the first-born of beast: therefore I sacrifice to Jehovah all that openeth the womb, being males; but all the first-born of my sons I redeem.

لَكِنْ حِينَ رَفَضَ فِرعَوْنُ بِعِنَادِهِ أنْ يُطلِقَنا، قَتَلَ اللهُ جَمِيعَ الأبْكارِ فِي أرْضِ مِصرَ. قَتَلَ أبكارَ النّاسِ وَأبكارَ الحَيواناتِ. لِذَلِكَ أنا أذبَحُ للهِ جَمِيعَ الأبْكارِ الذُّكورِ، أوَّلَ المَواليدِ مِنَ الحَيواناتِ، وَهَكَذا أفدي كُلَّ بِكْرٍ مِنْ أبْنائِي.›

16 A nd it shall be for a sign upon thy hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt.

سَيَكُونُ هَذا العيدُ كَعَلامَةٍ عَلَى يَدِكَ، وَكَعُصابَةٍ تَعْقُدُها بَينَ عَينَيكَ. لِأنَّ اللهَ أخرَجَنا بِقُوَّةِ يَدِهِ مِنْ مِصرَ.» رِحلَةُ الخُرُوجِ مِنْ مِصر

17 A nd it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

وَحِينَ أطلَقَ فِرعَوْنُ الشَّعبَ، لَمْ يَقُدْهُمُ اللهُ فِي الطَّرِيقِ إلَى أرْضِ الفِلِسطِيِّينَ، مَعَ أنَّها كَانَتْ أقْرَبَ، لِأنَّ اللهَ قالَ: «كَي لا يُغَيِّرَ الشَّعبُ رَأيَهُمْ حِينَ يَرَونَ الحَربَ فَيَعُودُوا إلَى مِصرَ.»

18 b ut God led the people about, by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea: and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.

فَأدارَ اللهُ الشَّعبَ إلَى طَرِيقِ بَرِّيَّةِ البَحرِ الأحمَرِ. وَخَرَجَ بَنو إسْرائِيلَ مِنْ مِصرَ مُستَعِدِّينَ لِلحَربِ.

19 A nd Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

فَأخَذَ مُوسَى عِظامَ يُوسُفَ مَعَهُ، لِأنَّ يُوسُفَ كانَ قَدِ اسْتَحلَفَ أبناءَ إسْرائِيلَ، قالَ: «مِنَ المُؤَكَّدِ أنَّ اللهَ سَيَفْتَقِدُكُمْ، فَخُذُوا عِظامِي حِينَئِذٍ مِنْ هُنا.»

20 A nd they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

وَارتَحَلُوا مِنْ مَدِينَةِ سُكُّوتَ وَخَيَّمُوا فِي مَدِينَةِ إيثامَ فِي طَرَفِ الصَّحْراءِ.

21 A nd Jehovah went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go by day and by night:

وَكانَ اللهُ يَسِيرُ أمامَهُمْ فِي النَّهارِ فِي عَمُودِ سَحابٍ لِيَقُودَهُمْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ، وَفِي اللَّيلِ فِي عَمُودِ نارٍ لِيُنِيرَ لَهُمْ لِيَستَطِيعُوا أنْ يَرتَحِلُوا فِي النَّهارِ وَاللَّيلِ.

22 t he pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, departed not from before the people.

وَبَقِيَ عَمُودُ السَّحابِ نَهاراً وَعَمُودُ النّارِ لَيلاً أمامَ الشَّعبِ.
