1 T he word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

هَذِهِ هِيَ الرِّسالَةُ النَّبَوِيَّةُ الَّتِي أتَتْ لإرْمِيا مِنَ اللهِ:

2 S tand in the gate of Jehovah's house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of Jehovah, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship Jehovah.

«قِفْ فِي بَوّابَةِ بَيتِ اللهِ ، وَأعلِنْ هُناكَ هَذِهِ الرِّسالَةَ: «يا كُلَّ بَنِي يَهُوذا العابِرِينَ مِنْ هَذهِ البَوّاباتِ لِتَعبُدُوا اللهَ ، اسْتَمِعُوا إلَى هَذِهِ الرِّسالَةِ مِنَ اللهِ.

3 T hus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

هَذا هُوَ ما يَقُولُهُ اللهُ القَدِيرُ إلَهُ إسْرائِيلَ: أصلِحُوا طُرُقَكُمْ وَأعمالَكُمْ. فَإنْ فَعَلْتُمْ هَذا سَأدَعُكُمْ تَسكُنُونَ فِي هَذا المَكانِ.

4 T rust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of Jehovah, the temple of Jehovah, the temple of Jehovah, are these.

لا تَتَّكِلُوا عَلَى عِباراتٍ خادِعَةٍ يُرَدِّدُها بَعضُكُمْ: ‹هَذا هَيكَلُ اللهِ ، هَيكَلُ اللهِ ، هَيكَلُ اللهِ.›

5 F or if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor;

إنْ أصلَحْتُمْ طُرُقَكُمْ وَأعمالَكُمْ، وَأنْصَفَ بَعضُكُمْ بَعضاً،

6 i f ye oppress not the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your own hurt:

إنْ كُنتُمْ لا تُضايِقُونَ الغُرَباءَ وَاليَتامَى وَالأرامِلَ، وَلا تَقتُلُونَ الأبرِياءَ فِي هَذا المَكانِ، وَلا تَعبُدُونَ آلِهَةً أُخْرَى لأجلِ خَرابِكُمْ،

7 t hen will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, from of old even for evermore.

حِينَئِذٍ، سَأجعَلُكُمْ تَسكُنُونَ فِي هَذا المَكانِ، فِي الأرْضِ الَّتِي أعطَيتُها لآبائِكُمْ لِتَكُونَ لَهُمْ دائِماً.

8 B ehold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.

«لَكِنَّكُمْ تَثِقُونَ فِي وُعُودٍ فارِغَةٍ لا تَنفَعُ.

9 W ill ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods that ye have not known,

أتَسرِقُونَ وَتَقتُلُونَ وَتَزنُونَ وَتُقسِمُونَ بِالكَذِبِ وَتَحرِقُونَ بَخُوراً لِعِبادَةِ البَعلِ، وَتَعبُدُونَ آلِهَةً أُخْرَى لَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعرِفُونَها،

10 a nd come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered; that ye may do all these abominations?

ثُمَّ تَأتُونَ وَتَقِفُونَ أمامَ هَذا الهَيكَلِ الَّذِي يَحمِلُ اسْمِي وَتَقُولُونَ: لَقَدْ أُنقِذْنا. تَقُولُونَ هَذا لِكَي تَستَمِرُّوا فِي أعمالِكُمُ البَشِعَةِ؟

11 I s this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, saith Jehovah.

هَلْ صارَ هَذا البَيتُ الَّذِي يَحمِلُ اسْمِيَ مَغارَةَ لُصُوصٍ بِالنِّسبَةِ لَكُمْ؟ أنا بِنَفسِي رَأيتُ أنَّ هَذا هُوَ مَوقِفُكُمْ،» يَقُولُ اللهُ.

12 B ut go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.

«لَكِنِ اذهَبُوا إلَى مَكانِيَ المُقَدَّسِ الَّذِي كانَ فِي شِيلُوهَ، المَكانِ الَّذِي كُنتُ أدعُوهُ ‹بَيتِي،› وَانظُرُوا ما فَعَلتُ بِهِ بِسَبَبِ الأُمُورِ الشِّرِّيرَةِ الَّتِي عَمِلَها شَعبِيَ إسْرائِيلُ.

13 A nd now, because ye have done all these works, saith Jehovah, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not:

وَالآنَ لأنَّكُمْ فَعَلْتُمْ هَذِهِ الأُمُورَ، يَقُولُ اللهُ ، وَأنا كَلّمْتُكُمْ مَرَّةً بَعدَ مَرَّةٍ، فَلَمْ تَستَمِعُوا إلَيَّ،

14 t herefore will I do unto the house which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh.

فَسأفَعَلُ بِهَذا البَيتِ الَّذِي يَحمِلُ اسْمِيَ، وَالَّذِي بِهِ تَثِقُونَ – المَكانِ الَّذِي أعطَيتُهُ لَكُمْ وَلآبائِكُمْ، ما عَمِلْتُهُ فِي شِيلُوهَ.

15 A nd I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.

سَأُلقِيكُمْ بَعِيداً عَنْ وَجهِي، تَماماً كَما عَمِلتُ مَعَ إخْوَتِكُمْ جَميعِ شَعبِ أفْرايِمَ.

16 T herefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me; for I will not hear thee.

«أمّا أنتَ يا إرمِيا، فَلا تُصَلِّ لأجلِ شَعبِكَ، وَلا تَصرُخْ لأجلِهِمْ. لا تَتَضَرَّعْ لأجلِهِمْ، لأنَّ صَلاتَكَ لَنْ تَصِلَنِي، وَلَنْ أسمَعَكَ.

17 S eest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

ألا تَرَى ما يَعمَلُونَهُ فِي مُدُنِ يَهُوذا وَفِي شَوارِعِ القُدْسِ؟

18 T he children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

الأطفالُ يَجمَعُونَ خَشَباً وَالآباءُ يُشعِلُونَ ناراً وَالنِّساءُ يَعجِنَّ، لِعَمَلِ كَعكٍ لِمَلِكَةِ السَّماءِ. وَيَسكُبُونَ خَمراً لِلآلِهَةِ الأُخرَى لِكَي يُغِيظُونِي.

19 D o they provoke me to anger? saith Jehovah; do they not provoke themselves, to the confusion of their own faces?

فَهَلْ أغاظُونِي؟ يَقُولُ اللهُ. بَلْ يُغِيظُونَ أنفُسَهُمْ، وَالنَّتِيجَةُ هِيَ خِزيُهُمْ؟»

20 T herefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, mine anger and my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

لِذَلِكَ، هَذا هُوَ ما يَقُولُهُ الرَّبُّ الإلَهُ: «سَيَنسَكِبُ غَضَبِي وَسَخَطِي عَلَى هَذا المَكانِ، عَلَى النّاسِ وَعَلَى الحَيواناتِ. عَلَى أشجارِ الحَقلِ وَعَلَى ثَمَرِ الأرْضِ. سَيَشتَعِلُ غَضَبِي وَلَنْ يَنطَفِئَ.» الطّاعَةُ لا الذَّبِيحَة

21 T hus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt-offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat ye flesh.

هَذا هُوَ ما يَقُولُهُ اللهُ القَدِيرُ، إلَهُ إسْرائِيلَ: «خُذُوا ذَبائِحَكُمْ وَأضاحِيَكُمْ وَكُلُوا لَحماً.

22 F or I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt-offerings or sacrifices:

لأنَّنِي لَمْ أتَكَلَّمْ مَعَ آبائِكُمْ، وَلَمْ آمُرْهُمْ عِندَما أخرَجتُهُمْ مِنْ أرْضِ مِصرَ بِخُصُوصِ الذَّبائِحِ وَالأضاحِي.

23 b ut this thing I commanded them, saying, Hearken unto my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people; and walk ye in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.

لَكِنْ هَذِهِ هِيَ الوَصِيَّةُ الَّتِي أعطَيتُها لَكُمْ: ‹أطِيعُونِي فَأكُونَ إلَهَكُمْ وَأنتُمْ تَكُونُونَ شَعبِي. وَتَعمَلُونَ ما آمُرُكُمْ بِهِ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ لَكُمْ خَيرٌ.›

24 B ut they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

«وَلَكِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَستَمِعُوا وَلَمْ يَفَتَحُوا آذانَهُمْ، وَسارُوا وَراءَ رَغباتِهِمِ الشِّرِّيرَةِ، فَابتَعَدُوا عَنِّي وَلَمْ يَقتَرِبُوا.

25 S ince the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day, I have sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

مِنْ يَومِ خُرُوجِ آبائِكُمْ مِنْ أرْضِ مِصرَ وَحَتَّى الآنَ، أرسَلْتُ إلَيهِمْ خُدّامِيَ الأنبِياءَ واحِداً بَعدَ الآخَرِ.

26 y et they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff: they did worse than their fathers.

لَكِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَستَمِعُوا إلَيَّ، وَلَمْ يَبالُوا، بَلْ قَسَّوا رِقابَهُمْ، وَكانُوا أشَرَّ مِنْ آبائِهِمْ.

27 A nd thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

«يا إرْمِيا، أنتَ سَتَنقُلُ إلَيهِمْ كُلَّ رَسائِلِي، لَكِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يَستَمِعُوا. سَتَدعُوهُمْ، لَكِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يَستَجِيبُوا.

28 A nd thou shalt say unto them, This is the nation that hath not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, nor received instruction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

سَتَقُولُ لَهُمْ: ‹هَذِهِ هِيَ الأُمَّةُ الَّتِي لَمْ تُطِعِ صَوتَ إلَهِها ، وَلَمْ تَقبَلْ تَأدِيبَهُ.› الأمانَةُ هَلَكَتْ، وَانقَطَعَتْ مِنْ أفواهِهِمْ. وادِي القَتل

29 C ut off thy hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for Jehovah hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

«قُصِّي شَعرَكِ وَاطرَحِيهِ بَعِيداً. ضَعِي أُغنِيَةً حَزِينَةً عَلَى شَفَتَيكِ، لأنَّ اللهَ قَدْ رَفَضَ وَتَرَكَ هَذا الجِيلَ الَّذِي أسخَطَهُ.

30 F or the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight, saith Jehovah: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.

لأنَّ بَنِي يَهُوذا صَنَعُوا الشَّرَّ أمامِي، يَقُولُ اللهُ. وَضَعُوا تَماثيلَهُمُ الحَقِيرَةَ فِي البيَتِ الَّذِي يَحمِلُ اسْمِيَ لِيُنَجِّسُوهُ.

31 A nd they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded not, neither came it into my mind.

وَما زالُوا يَبنُونَ المُرتَفَعَاتِ الَّتِي فِي تُوفَةَ فِي وادِي ابنِ هِنُّومَ، لِكَي يَحرِقُوا أولادَهُمْ وَبَناتِهُمْ فِي النّارِ. وَأنا لَمْ آمُرْ بِهَذا وَلَمْ أُفَكِّرْ بِهِ.

32 T herefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that it shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter: for they shall bury in Topheth, till there be no place to bury.

لِذَلِكَ سَتَأتِي أيّامٌ، يَقُولُ اللهُ ، عِندَما لَنْ يَعُودَ يُقالُ: ‹هَذا وادِي تُوفَةَ، وَهَذا وادِي ابنِ هِنُّومَ.› بَلْ سَيَقُولُونَ: ‹هَذا وادِي القَتلِ.› وَسَيَدفِنُونَ فِي تُوفَةَ، لأنَّ هَذا هُوَ وادِي الجُثَثِ. سَيَدفِنُونَ النّاسَ هُناكَ حَتَّى لا يَعُودَ هُناكَ مُتَّسَعٌ.

33 A nd the dead bodies of this people shall be food for the birds of the heavens, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall frighten them away.

سَتَكُونُ جُثَثُ هَذا الشَّعبِ طَعاماً لِطُيُورِ السَّماءِ وَوُحُوشِ الأرْضِ. وَلَنْ يَكُونَ هُناكَ مَنْ يُخِيفُهُمْ.

34 T hen will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land shall become a waste.

سَأُصمِتُ صَوتَ الطَّرَبِ وَالبَهجَةِ، وَصَوتَ العَرُوسِ وَالعَرِيسِ، فِي مُدُنِ يَهُوذا وَفِي شَوارِعِ القُدْسِ، لأنَّ الأرْضَ سَتَكُونُ خَرِبَةً.»
