1 A nd it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born unto them,

وَبَدَأ النّاسُ يَتَكاثَرُونَ عَلَى وَجهِ الأرْضِ. وَوُلِدَتْ لَهُمْ بَناتٌ.

2 t hat the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all that they chose.

فَلَمّا رَأى بَنُو اللهِ أنَّ بَناتَ النّاسِ جَميلاتٌ، عاشَرُوا مِنْهُنَّ مَنْ يُرِيدُونَ.

3 A nd Jehovah said, My spirit shall not strive with man for ever, for that he also is flesh: yet shall his days be a hundred and twenty years.

فَقالَ اللهُ: «لَنْ يَدُومَ رُوحِي فِي النّاسِ إلَى الأبَدِ، لِأنَّهُمْ لَحْمٌ وَدَمٌ. وَلَنْ يَعِيشُوا أكثَرَ مِنْ مِئَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنةً.»

4 T he Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them: the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.

فِي ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ وَبَعْدَهُ – أي بَعْدَ أنْ عاشَرَ بَنُو اللهِ بَناتِ النَّاسِ وَأنْجَبْنَ لَهُمْ أولاداً – عَاشَتْ جَماعَةُ الجَبابِرَةِ عَلَى الأرْضِ. وَكانُوا مُحارِبينَ مَشْهُورينَ.

5 A nd Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

وَرَأى اللهُ أنَّ النّاسَ فِي الأرْضِ أشْرارٌ جِدّاً. وَأنَّ أفكارَهُمْ وَخُطَطَهُمْ شِرِّيرَةٌ عَلَى الدَّوامِ.

6 A nd it repented Jehovah that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

فَأسِفَ اللهُ عَلَى خَلقِ الإنْسانِ عَلَى الأرْضِ. وَحَزِنَ فِي قَلْبِهِ كَثِيراً.

7 A nd Jehovah said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the ground; both man, and beast, and creeping things, and birds of the heavens; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

فَقالَ اللهُ: «سَأمْحُو النّاسَ الَّذِينَ خَلَقْتُهُمْ مِنْ تُرابِ الأرْضِ: النّاسَ وَالمَواشِي وَالزَّواحِفَ وَطُيُورَ السَّماءِ. فَقَدْ أسِفْتُ عَلَى خَلقِها.»

8 B ut Noah found favor in the eyes of Jehovah.

لَكِنَّ نُوحَ حَظِيَ بِرِضَى اللهِ. نوحُ وَالطُّوفانُ العظيم

9 T hese are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, and perfect in his generations: Noah walked with God.

هَذا سِجِلُّ مَوالِيدِ عائِلَةِ نُوحَ. كانَ نُوحُ رَجُلاً بارّاً. وَكانَ وَحدَهُ بِلا عَيبٍ بَينَ مُعاصِرِيهِ. وَسارَ نُوحُ مَعَ اللهِ.

10 A nd Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

وَأنجَبَ نُوحُ ثَلاثَةَ بَنِينَ هُمْ سامُ وَحامٌ وَيافَثُ.

11 A nd the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

وَرَأى اللهُ الأرْضَ فاسِدَةً، إذِ امْتَلأتْ بِالعُنْفِ.

12 A nd God saw the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth.

وَنَظَرَ اللهُ إلَى الأرْضِ، فَكانَتْ فاسِدَةً حَقّاً، لأنَّ جَمِيعَ النّاسِ أفسَدُوا طُرُقَهُمْ عَلَى الأرْضِ.

13 A nd God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

فَقالَ اللهُ لِنُوحَ: «ها قَدِ اقتَرَبَتْ نِهايَةُ كُلِّ الكائِناتِ الحَيَّةِ، لأنَّ النّاسَ قَدْ مَلأُوا الأرْضَ عُنْفاً. فَها أنا سَأُدَمِّرُهُمْ سَرِيعاً مَعَ أرْضِهِمْ.

14 M ake thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

فاصْنَعْ سَفِينَةً مِنْ خَشَبِ السَّرْوِ، وَابْنِ فِيها غُرَفاً. وَاطلِ السَّفِينَةَ مِنَ الخارِجِ بِالقارِ.

15 A nd this is how thou shalt make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

«اصْنَعِ السَّفِينَةَ حَسَبَ القِياساتِ التّالِيَةِ: الطُّولُ ثَلاثُ مِئِةِ ذِراعٍ، وَالعَرْضُ خَمْسُونَ ذِراعاً، وَالارتِفاعُ ثَلاثُونَ ذِراعاً.

16 A light shalt thou make to the ark, and to a cubit shalt thou finish it upward; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

وَاجْعَلْ فِي أحَدِ جَوانِبِ السَّفِينَةِ نافِذَةً تَحْتَ السَّقْفِ بِذِراعٍ واحِدَةٍ. وَاجعَلْ باباً فِي جانِبِ السَّفِينَةِ. وَابنِ السَّفِينَةَ ثَلاثَ طَبَقاتٍ: سُفلِيَّةً وَوُسْطَى وَعُليا.

17 A nd I, behold, I do bring the flood of waters upon this earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is in the earth shall die.

فَها أنا أُوشِكُ أنْ أجلِبَ طُوفاناً هائِلاً عَلَى الأرْضِ، لأُبيدَ كُلَّ كائِنٍ يَتَنَفَّسُ تَحتَ السَّماءِ. كُلُّ ما عَلَى الأرضِ سَيَفنَى!

18 B ut I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

«أمّا أنتَ فَسَأقطَعُ مَعَكَ عَهداً، فَتَدخُلَ السَّفِينَةَ أنْتَ وَأبْناؤكَ وَزَوْجَتُكَ وَنِساءُ أبْنائِكَ.

19 A nd of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

أدْخِلْ إلَى السَّفِينَةِ أيضاً زَوْجينِ، ذَكَراً وَأُنْثَى، مِنْ كُلِّ نَوْعٍ مِنَ الكائِناتِ الحَيَّةِ، لِكَي تَنجُوَ مَعَكَ.

20 O f the birds after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

وَسَيَنْضَمُّ إلَيكَ زَوْجانِ مِنْ كُلِّ نَوْعٍ مِنَ الطُّيُورِ، وَكُلِّ نَوْعٍ مِنَ الحَيواناتِ، وَكُلِّ نَوعٍ مِنَ الحَيَواناتِ الزّاحِفَةِ عَلَى الأرْضِ، لِكَي تُحافِظَ عَلَى حَياتِها.

21 A nd take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

وَخُذْ بَعضاً مِنْ كُلِّ نَوْعٍ مِنَ الطَّعامِ الَّذِي يُمْكِنُ أنْ يُؤْكَلَ، وَاخْزِنْهُ. وَلْيَكُنْ هَذا طَعاماً لَكَ وَلِعائِلَتِكَ وَلِلحَيواناتِ.»

22 T hus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

فَفَعَلَ نُوحُ كُلَّ ما أمَرَهُ بِهِ اللهُ تَماماً.
