1 T hen drew near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

فَتَقَدَّمَتْ بَناتُ صَلُفْحادَ بْنِ حافَرَ بْنِ جِلْعادَ بْنِ ماكِيرَ بْنِ مَنَسَّى، مِنْ قَبِيلَةِ مَنَسَّى بْنِ يُوسُفَ. وَكانَتْ أسْماءُ بَناتِهِ مَحلَةُ وَنُوعَةَ وَحُجلَةَ وَمِلْكَةَ وَتِرْصَةَ.

2 A nd they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the tent of meeting, saying,

فَوَقَفْنَ أمامَ مُوسَى وَألِيعازارَ الكاهِنِ وَالرُّؤَساءِ وَكُلِّ الشَّعبِ فِي مَدخَلِ خَيمَةِ الاجْتِماعِ وَقُلْنَ:

3 O ur father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of them that gathered themselves together against Jehovah in the company of Korah: but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons.

«ماتَ أبونا فِي الصَّحْراءِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَ جَماعَةِ قُورَحَ الَّذِينَ تَمَرَّدُوا عَلَى اللهِ ، لَكِنَّهُ ماتَ بِسَبَبِ خَطِيَّتِهِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَدَيهِ أبناءٌ ذُكُورٌ.

4 W hy should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give unto us a possession among the brethren of our father.

فَلِماذا لا يُذكَرُ اسْمُ أبِينا وَسَطَ عَشِيرَتِهِ لأنَّهُ لَيسَ لَدَيهِ أبناءٌ ذُكُورٌ؟ أعطِنا أرْضاً فِي وَسَطِ عَشِيرَتِنا.»

5 A nd Moses brought their cause before Jehovah.

فَأتَى مُوسَى بِقَضِيَّتِهِنَّ إلَى اللهِ.

6 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

فَكَلَّمَ اللهُ مُوسَى وَقالَ:

7 T he daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

«إنَّ طَلَبَ بَناتِ صَلُفْحادَ حَقٌّ وَعادِلٌ. أعْطِهِنَّ أرْضاً يُوَرِّثْنَها لِنَسلِهِنَّ وَسَطَ عَشِيرَتِهِنَّ. أعْطِهِنَّ حَقَّ أبِيهِنَّ.

8 A nd thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

«وَقُلْ لِبَني إسْرائِيلَ: حِينَ يَمُوتُ رَجُلٌ وَلَيَسَ لَهُ ابْنٌ، أعْطُوا حِصَّتَهُ لِبَناتِهِ.

9 A nd if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

وَإنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ بَناتٌ، أعْطُوا حِصَّتَهُ لإخوَتِهِ.

10 A nd if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.

وَإنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ إخْوَةٌ، أعْطُوا حِصَّتَهُ لأعمامِهِ.

11 A nd if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute and ordinance, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

وَإنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لأبِيهِ إخْوَةٌ، أعْطُوا الأرْضَ لأقرَبِ أقرِبائِهِ مِنْ عَشِيرَتِهِ فَيَمتَلِكَها. هَذهِ شَريعَةٌ لِبَني إسْرائِيلَ، كَما أمَرَ اللهُ مُوسَى.» تَعيِينُ يَشُوعَ كَقائِدٍ لِلشَّعب

12 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mountain of Abarim, and behold the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

وَقالَ اللهُ لِمُوسَى: «اصعَدْ إلَى هَذا الجَبَلِ فِي مِنْطَقَةِ جِبالِ عَبارِيمَ، وَانظُرِ إلَى الأرْضِ الَّتِي سَأُعطِيها لِبَني إسْرائِيلَ.

13 A nd when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered;

بَعْدَ أنْ تَراها، سَتَنضَمُّ إلَى آبائِكَ، كَما انضَمَّ أخُوكَ هارُونُ إلَى آبائِهِ.

14 b ecause ye rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes. (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

هَذا لأنَّكُما عَصَيتُما أمرِي فِي بَرِّيَّةِ صِينَ حِينَ ثارَ الشَّعبُ عَلَيَّ، وَلَمْ تُكرِمانِي وَتُقَدِّسانِي عِندَ الماءِ أمامَهُمْ.» قَصَدَ بَذَلِكَ مِياهَ مَرِيبَةَ قُرْبَ قادِشَ فِي بَرِّيَّةِ صِينَ.

15 A nd Moses spake unto Jehovah, saying,

فَكَلَّمَ مُوسَى اللهَ وَقالَ لَهُ:

16 L et Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

« اللهُ هُوَ إلَهُ أرْواحِ النّاسِ جَمِيعاً، فَلْيُعَيِّنِ رَجُلاً قائِداً لِهَذا الشَّعبِ.

17 w ho may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of Jehovah be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

يَقُودُهُمْ فِي الحَربِ وَفِي كُلِّ أُمُورِ حَياتِهِمْ، كَي لا يَكُونَ شَعبُ اللهِ كَقَطِيعِ غَنَمٍ لا راعِيَ لَهُ.»

18 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay thy hand upon him;

فَقالَ اللهُ لِمُوسَى: «خُذْ يَشُوعَ بْنَ نُونَ، الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي فيهِ رُوحُ الله، وَضَعْ يَدَكَ عَلَيهِ.

19 a nd set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

أوقِفْهُ أمامَ ألِيعازارَ الكاهِنِ وَكُلِّ الشَّعبِ، وَأوصِهِ وَسَلِّمْهُ مَهامَّ القِيادَةِ أمامَ الشَّعبِ.

20 A nd thou shalt put of thine honor upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.

«وَامنَحْهُ مِنْ جاهِكَ، كَي يُطِيعَهُ بَنو إسْرائِيلَ وَيَحْتَرِمُونَهُ.

21 A nd he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Jehovah: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

فَليَقِفْ يَشُوعُ أمامَ ألِيعازارَ الكاهِنِ، وَألِيعازارُ سَيَطلُبُ الإرْشادَ بِمُساعَدَةِ الأُورِيمِ وَالتُّمِّيمِ فِي حَضْرَةِ اللهِ لأجلِ يَشُوعَ. فَبِحَسَبِ أمرِ اللهِ يَخرُجُ يَشُوعُ وَكُلُّ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ مَعَهُ لِلحَربِ، وَبِحَسَبِ أمرِ اللهِ يَرجِعُونَ.»

22 A nd Moses did as Jehovah commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

فَفَعَلَ مُوسَى بِحَسَبِ ما أمَرَهُ اللهُ ، فَأخَذَ يَشُوعَ وَأوقَفَهُ أمامَ ألِيعازارَ الكاهِنِ وَكُلِّ الشَّعبِ.

23 a nd he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as Jehovah spake by Moses.

حِينَئِذٍ، وَضَعَ مُوسَى يَدَيهِ عَلَى يَشُوعَ وَأوصاهُ كَما قالَ اللهُ عَنْ طَريقِ مُوسَى.
