1 T hen David said, This is the house of Jehovah God, and this is the altar of burnt-offering for Israel.

فَقالَ داوُدُ: «هُنا بَيتُ اللهِ ، وَهُنا مَذْبَحُ الذَّبائِحِ الصّاعِدَةِ مِنْ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ.»

2 A nd David commanded to gather together the sojourners that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.

وَأمَرَ داوُدُ بِجَمْعِ الغُرَباءِ المُقِيمِينَ فِي أرْضِ إسْرائِيلَ. وَعَيَّنَهُمْ حَجّارِينَ لِكَي يَقْطَعُوا حِجارَةً مُكَعَّبَةً لِبِناءِ بَيتِ اللهِ.

3 A nd David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight;

وَأعَدَّ داوُدُ أيضاً كَمِّيَّةً كَبِيرَةً مِنَ الحَدِيدِ لِصُنْعِ المَسامِيرِ لِلبَوّاباتِ وَلِمَصارِيعِ الأبْوابِ، وَكَمِّيَةً كَبِيرَةً مِنَ البُرونْزِ، أكْبَرَ مِنْ أنْ تُوزَنَ،

4 a nd cedar-trees without number: for the Sidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar-trees in abundance to David.

وَألواحاً مِنْ خَشَبِ الأرْزِ أكْثَرَ مِنْ أنْ تُحصَى. لِأنَّ الصَّيدُونِيِّينَ وَالصُّورِيِّينَ أحضَرُوا لِداوُدَ كَمِيَّةً كَبِيرَةً مِنَ ألواحِ خَشَبِ الأرْزِ.

5 A nd David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for Jehovah must be exceeding magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.

وَقالَ داوُدُ فِي نَفْسِهِ: «ابْنِي سُلَيْمانُ صَغِيرٌ وَعَدِيمُ الخِبرَةِ. وَيَنْبَغِي أنْ يَكُونَ البَيتُ الَّذِي يَبْنِيهِ للهِ عَظِيماً جِدّاً، وَمَشْهُوراً وَمَجِيداً بَينَ كُلِّ البِلادِ. وَلِهَذا فَإنِّي سَأقُومُ بِالإعدادِ لَهُ.» فَأعَدَّ داوُدُ مَوادَّ بِكَمِّيّاتٍ هائِلَةٍ قَبلَ مَوْتِهِ.

6 T hen he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for Jehovah, the God of Israel.

وَدَعَى داوُدُ ابْنَهُ سُلَيْمانَ وَأوصاهُ بِأنْ يَبْنِي بَيتاً للهِ ، إلَهِ إسْرائِيلَ.

7 A nd David said to Solomon his son, As for me, it was in my heart to build a house unto the name of Jehovah my God.

وَقالَ داوُدُ لِسُلَيْمانَ: «يا ابْنِي، كُنْتُ أنوِي أنْ أبنِيَ بَيتاً إكْراماً لاسْمِ إلَهِي.

8 B ut the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build a house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.

لَكِنَّ اللهَ كَلَّمَنِي فَقالَ: ‹أنْتَ سَفَكْتَ دَماً كَثِيراً، وَحارَبْتَ حُرُوباً كَثِيرَةً. لِذَلِكَ لا أُرِيدُكَ أنْ تَبْنِي بَيتاً مِنْ أجلِ اسْمِي، لِأنَّكَ سَفَكْتَ دِماءً كَثِيرَةً عَلَى الأرْضِ أمامِي.

9 B ehold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days:

لَكِنْ سَيُولَدُ لَكَ ابْنٌ، وَسَيَكُونُ رَجُلَ راحَةٍ، فَسَأُعطِيهِ راحَةً مِنْ جَمِيعِ أعدائِهِ مِنْ كُلِّ الجِهاتِ، إذْ سَيَكُونُ اسْمُهُ سُلَيْمانَ، وَسَأُعطِي إسْرائِيلَ سَلاماً وَهُدُوءاً فِي عَهْدِهِ.

10 h e shall build a house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.

وَهُوَ الَّذِي سَيَبْنِي بَيتاً مِنْ أجلِ اسْمِي. وَسَيَكُونُ لِيَ ابْناً، وَسَأكُونُ لَهُ أباً. وَسَأُثَبِّتُ عَرْشَهُ المَلَكِيَّ عَلَى إسْرائِيلَ طَويلاً.›

11 N ow, my son, Jehovah be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of Jehovah thy God, as he hath spoken concerning thee.

«وَالآنَ يا ابْنِي، لَيتَ اللهَ يَكُونُ مَعَكَ، لِكَي تَنجَحَ وَتَبْنِي بَيتَ إلَهِكَ ، كَما تَكَلَّمَ عَنْكَ.

12 O nly Jehovah give thee discretion and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel; that so thou mayest keep the law of Jehovah thy God.

إنَّما أطلُبُ أنْ يُعطِيَكَ اللهُ بَصِيرَةً وَفَهْماً، لِكَي تُطِيعَ شَرِيعَةَ إلَهِكَ حِينَ يُمَلِّكُكَ عَلَى إسرائِيلَ.

13 T hen shalt thou prosper, if thou observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; fear not, neither be dismayed.

حِينَئِذٍ، سَتَنْجَحُ إنْ حَرِصْتَ عَلَى مُراعاةِ الأحكامِ وَالفَرائِضِ الَّتِي أعطاها اللهُ لِمُوسَى لِتُطِيعَها إسْرائِيلُ. فَتَشَدَّدْ وَتَشَجَّعْ. لا تَخَفْ وَلا تَرْتَعِبْ.

14 N ow, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for the house of Jehovah a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver, and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.

«وَها قَدْ تَعِبْتُ حَتَّى أعدَدْتُ لِبَيتِ اللهِ مِئَةَ ألفِ قِنْطارٍ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ، وَمِليَونَ قِنْطارٍ مِنَ الفِضَّةِ، وَنُحاساً أكْثَرَ مِنْ أنْ يُوزَنَ. وَأعدَدْتُ خَشَباً وَحِجارَةً أيضاً، فَأضِفْ أنتَ إلَيها ما تَحتاجُ إلَيهِ.

15 M oreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all men that are skilful in every manner of work:

لَدَيكَ عَدَدٌ كَبِيرٌ مِنَ العامِلِينَ: حَجّارِينَ وَبَنّائِينَ وَنَجّارِينَ وَصانِعِينَ ماهِرِينَ لا يُحصَى عَدَدُهُمْ فِي كُلِّ المَعادِنِ،

16 o f the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing, and Jehovah be with thee.

فِي الذَّهَبِ وَالفِضَّةِ وَالبُرونْزِ وَالحَدِيدِ. فَقُمْ وَاعْمَلْ، وَلْيَكُنِ اللهُ مَعَكَ.»

17 D avid also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,

وَأوصَى داوُدُ كُلَّ المَسْؤُولِينَ فِي إسْرائِيلَ بِأنْ يُعِينُوا ابْنَهُ سُلَيْمانَ:

18 I s not Jehovah your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Jehovah, and before his people.

«ألَيسَ إلَهُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ، وَقَدْ أعطاكُمْ راحَةً مِنْ كُلِّ ناحِيَةٍ مِنْ حَولِكُمْ؟ فَقَدْ نَصَرَنِي عَلَى سُكّانِ الأرْضِ. وَها هِيَ الأرْضُ خاضِعَةٌ أمامَ اللهِ وَشَعبِهِ.

19 N ow set your heart and your soul to seek after Jehovah your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of Jehovah God, to bring the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of Jehovah.

وَالآنَ اطلُبُوا إلَهَكَمْ بِكُلِّ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَنُفُوسِكُمْ. وَقُومُوا وَابْنُوا مَسْكَنَ اللهِ ، لِكَي يُجلَبَ صُنْدُوقُ عَهْدِ اللهِ وَآنِيَةُ اللهِ المُقَدَّسَةُ إلَى البَيتِ الَّذِي سَيُبْنَى مِنْ أجلِ اسْمِ اللهِ.»
