1 T herefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

فَها أنتُمْ تَرَونَ أنَّ هُناكَ شُهُوداً كَثِيرِينَ لِلإيمانِ يُحِيطُونَ بِنا كَسَحابَةٍ. لِهَذا فَلْنَتَخَلَّصْ مِنْ كُلِّ حِملٍ مِنَ الخَطِيَّةِ الَّتِي يُمكِنُ أنْ تُعِيقَنا بِسُهُولَةٍ. وَلْنَجرِ بِصَبرٍ فِي السِّباقِ المَرسُومِ لَنا.

2 l ooking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

وَلْنُثَبِّتْ عُيُونَنا عَلَى يَسُوعَ، قائِدِ إيمانِنا وَمُكَمِّلِهِ. فَمِنْ أجلِ الفَرَحِ الَّذِي كانَ فِي انتِظارِهِ، احتَمَلَ الصَّلِيبَ، مُستَهِيناً بِالعارِ. وَقَدْ أخَذَ الآنَ مَكانَهُ عَنْ يَمِينِ عَرشِ الله.

3 F or consider him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls.

تَأمَّلُوا هَذا الَّذِي احتَمَلَ مِثلَ هَذِهِ العَداوَةِ الشَّدِيدَةِ مِنْ أُناسٍ خُطاةٍ، حَتَّى لا تَفشَلُوا وَلا تَستَسلِمُوا. اللهُ أبُونا

4 Y e have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin:

حَتَّى الآنَ، لَمْ تُجاهِدُوا فِي حَربِكُمْ ضِدَّ الخَطِيَّةِ حَتَّى المَوتِ.

5 a nd ye have forgotten the exhortation which reasoneth with you as with sons, My son, regard not lightly the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when thou art reproved of him;

وَرُبَّما نَسِيتُمْ رِسالَةَ التَّشجِيعِ الَّتِي يُوَجِّهُها اللهُ لَكُمْ كَأولادٍ لَهُ عِنْدَما يَقُولُ: «لا تَستَخِفَّ بِتَأْدِيبِ الرَّبِّ ، وَلا تَفشَلْ حِينَ يُوَبِّخُكَ.

6 F or whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, And scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

فَالرَّبُّ يُؤَدِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّهُمْ، وَهُوَ يَجلِدُ كُلَّ مَنْ يَقبَلُهُ ابْناً لَهُ.»

7 I t is for chastening that ye endure; God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father chasteneth not?

فَاحْتَمِلُوا المَشَقَّةَ كَتَأْدِيبٍ، لِأنَّها تُبَيِّنُ أنَّ اللهَ يُعامِلُكُمْ كَأبناءٍ. فَأيُّ ابنٍ لا يُؤَدِّبُهُ أبُوهُ؟

8 B ut if ye are without chastening, whereof all have been made partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

فَإذا لَمْ تُؤَدَّبُوا، كَما يُؤَدَّبُ كُلُّ الأبناءِ، تَكُونُونَ كَالأبناءِ غَيرِ الشَّرعِيِّينَ، لا أبناءً حَقِيقِيِّينَ.

9 F urthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

وَفَضلاً عَنْ هَذا، فَقَدْ كانَ لَنا جَمِيعاً آباءٌ بَشَرِيُّونَ يُؤَدِّبُونَنا، وَكُنّا نَحتَرِمُهُمْ. فَكَمْ يَجدُرُ بِنا أنْ نَخضَعَ لِتَأْدِيبِ اللهِ، أبِي أرواحِنا، فَنَحيا؟

10 F or they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.

أدَّبَنا هَؤُلاءِ لِفَترَةٍ قَلِيلَةٍ حَسَبَ ما رَأَوْا مُناسِباً، أمّا اللهُ فَيُؤَدِّبُنا لِخَيرِنا، لِكَي نَشتَرِكَ فِي قَداسَتِهِ.

11 A ll chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness.

وَما مِنِ ابنٍ يَرَى التَّأدِيبَ مُفرِحاً فِي وَقتِهِ، بَلْ يَراهُ مُحزِناً. لَكِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَدَرَّبُوا بِالتَّأدِيبِ يَرَونَ فِيما بَعْدُ أنَّ التَّأدِيبَ قَدْ أنتَجَ فِي حَياتِهِمُ السَّلامَ النّابِعَ مِنْ حَياةِ البِرِّ. انتَبِهُوا كَيفَ تَسلُكُون

12 W herefore lift up the hands that hang down, and the palsied knees;

فارفَعُوا أيادِيَكُمُ الرَّخوَةَ، وَشَدِّدُوا الرُّكَبَ الضَّعِيفَةَ!

13 a nd make straight paths for your feet, that that which is lame be not turned out of the way, but rather be healed.

مَهِّدُوا الطَّرِيقَ أمامَ أقدامِكُمْ، لِئَلّا تَتَخَلَّعَ القَدَمُ العَرجاءُ، بَلْ تُشفَى!

14 F ollow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord:

اسْعوا إلَى السَّلامِ مَعَ جَمِيعِ النّاسِ، وَعيشوا حَياةً مُقَدَّسَةً. فَبِغَيْرِ القَداسَةِ لا يُمكِنُ أنْ يَرَى أحَدٌ الرَّبَّ.

15 l ooking carefully lest there be any man that falleth short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled;

احرِصُوا عَلَى أنْ لا يُفَوِّتَ أحَدُكُمْ نِعمَةَ اللهِ، لِئَلّا يَنبُتَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ جَذرُ مَرارَةٍ وَيُسَمِّمُ كَثِيرِينَ!

16 l est there be any fornication, or profane person, as Esau, who for one mess of meat sold his own birthright.

وَاحرِصُوا عَلَى أنْ لا يَكُونَ أحَدُكُمْ غَيْرَ أمِينٍ أوْ آثِماً كَما كانَ عِيسُو الَّذِي باعَ حُقُوقَهُ كَبِكرٍ مُقابِلَ بَعْضِ الطَّعامِ!

17 F or ye know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place for a change of mind in his father, though he sought is diligently with tears.

وَأنتُمْ تَعرِفُونَ أنَّهُ لَمّا أرادَ أنْ يَرِثَ البَرَكَةَ فِيما بَعْدُ لَمْ يُستَمَعْ لَهُ. إذْ لَمْ يَجِدْ طَرِيقَةً يُغَيِّرُ فِيها ما حَدَثَ، مَعَ أنَّهُ طَلَبَ البَرَكَةَ مِنْ أبِيهِ بِدُمُوعٍ.

18 F or ye are not come unto a mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

وَأنتُمْ لَمْ تَأتُوا إلَى جَبَلٍ يُلمَسُ وَيَشتَعِلُ بِالنّارِ. لَمْ تَأتُوا إلَى مَكانِ ظُلمَةٍ وَعَتْمَةٍ وَزَوابِعَ.

19 a nd the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard entreated that no word more should be spoken unto them;

لَمْ تَأتُوا إلَى نَفخِ بُوقٍ أوْ إلَى صَوتٍ ناطِقٍ، جَعَلَ الَّذِينَ سَمِعُوهُ يَلتَمِسُونَ أنْ يَتَوَقَّفَ الكَلامُ المُوَجَّهُ إلَيْهِمْ.

20 f or they could not endure that which was enjoined, If even a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned;

إذْ لَمْ يَحتَمِلُوا ما أُمِرُوا بِهِ: «حَتَّى لَوْ لَمَسَ الجَبَلَ حَيوانٌ، يَنبَغِي رَجمُهُ.»

21 a nd so fearful was the appearance, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:

وَكانَ المَنظَرُ مُخِيفاً جِدّاً حَتَّى إنَّ مُوسَى قالَ: «أنا أرتَجِفُ خَوفاً.»

22 b ut ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels,

لَكِنَّكُمْ جِئتُمْ إلَى جَبَلِ صِهْيَوْنَ، إلَى مَدِينَةِ اللهِ الحَيِّ، القُدسِ السَّماوِيَّةِ. جِئتُمْ إلَى عَشَراتِ الآلافِ مِنَ المَلائِكَةِ المُجتَمِعِينَ فِي احتِفالٍ بَهِيجٍ.

23 t o the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

جِئتُمْ إلَى جَماعَةٍ مِنَ الأبكارِ الَّذينَ أسماؤُهُمْ مَكتُوبَةٌ فِي السَّماءِ. جِئتُمْ إلَى اللهِ، قاضِي كُلِّ البَشَرِ. جِئتُمْ إلَى أرْواحِ أبْرارٍ مُكَمَّلِينَ.

24 a nd to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better than that of Abel.

جِئتُمْ إلَى يَسُوعَ، وَسِيطِ عَهدٍ جَدِيدٍ، وَإلَى دَمٍ مَرشُوشٍ يُكَلِّمُنا بِأُمُورٍ أفضَلَ مِنْ ما كَلَّمَنا بِهِ دَمُ هابِيلَ.

25 S ee that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warneth from heaven:

فاحرِصُوا عَلَى أنْ لا تَرفُضُوا سَماعَ مَنْ يُكَلِّمُكُمْ. رَفَضَ هَؤُلاءِ أنْ يَستَمِعُوا إلَى مَنْ حَذَّرَهُمْ عَلَى الأرْضِ، فَلَمْ يَنجُوا مِنَ العِقابِ. فَكَيفَ يَسَعُنا أنْ نَنجُوَ إذا ابتَعَدنا عَنِ الَّذِي يُحَذِّرُنا مِنَ السَّماءِ؟

26 w hose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more will I make to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven.

هَزَّ الأرْضَ صَوتُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ، أمّا الآنَ فَقَدْ قَطَعَ هَذا الوَعدَ فَقالَ: «مَرَّةً أُخْرَى، سَأُزَلزِلُ لا الأرْضَ وَحدَها، بَلِ السَّماءَ أيضاً.»

27 A nd this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.

فَقَولُهُ: «مَرَّةً أُخْرَى،» يَدُلُّ عَلَى أنَّ الأشياءَ غَيرَ الثّاَبِتَةِ سَتُزالُ. إذْ هِيَ أشياءٌ مَخلُوقَةٌ. وَهَذا يَعنِي أنَّ الأشياءَ الَّتِي لا يُمكِنُ أنْ تُزَلزَلَ سَتَبقَى.

28 W herefore, receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, whereby we may offer service well-pleasing to God with reverence and awe:

وَالمَلَكُوتُ الَّذِي نَنالُهُ هُوَ مَلَكُوتٌ غَيرُ قابِلٍ لِلزَّلزَلَةِ. لِهَذا فَلْنُظهِرِ امتِنانَنا لَهُ، ولنَعبُدِ اللهَ عِبادَةً مَقبُولَةً بِتَوقِيرٍ وَمَهابَةٍ.

29 f or our God is a consuming fire.

فَإلَهُنا نارٌ مُلتَهِمَةٌ!
