1 W hile David was king there was a time without food for three years. David went to the Lord. The Lord said, “It is because of Saul and his house of blood, for he put the Gibeonites to death.”

Hubo hambre en los días de David por tres años consecutivos. Y David consultó a Jehová, y Jehová le dijo: Es por causa de Saúl, y por aquella casa de sangre, por cuanto mató a los gabaonitas.

2 S o the king called the Gibeonites. (Now the Gibeonites were not of the sons of Israel, but of the people who were left of the Amorites. The sons of Israel had made an agreement with them. But Saul had wanted to kill them because he thought so much of the sons of Israel and Judah.)

Entonces el rey llamó a los gabaonitas, y les habló. (Los gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino del resto de los amorreos, a los cuales los hijos de Israel habían hecho juramento; pero Saúl había procurado matarlos en su celo por los hijos de Israel y de Judá.)

3 D avid said to the Gibeonites, “What should I do for you? How can I pay for the sin, so you may bring good to the land of the Lord?”

Dijo, pues, David a los gabaonitas: ¿Qué haré por vosotros, o qué satisfacción os daré, para que bendigáis la heredad de Jehová?

4 T he Gibeonites said to him, “We will take no silver or gold from Saul or his family. And it is not for us to put any man to death in Israel.” David said, “I will do for you whatever you say.”

Y los gabaonitas le respondieron: No tenemos nosotros querella sobre plata ni sobre oro con Saúl y con su casa; ni queremos que muera hombre de Israel. Y él les dijo: Lo que vosotros dijereis, haré.

5 S o they said to the king, “Saul destroyed us and planned to keep us from staying in any land of Israel.

Ellos respondieron al rey: De aquel hombre que nos destruyó, y que maquinó contra nosotros para exterminarnos sin dejar nada de nosotros en todo el territorio de Israel,

6 L et seven men from his sons be given to us. We will hang them before the Lord at Gibeon on the Lord’s mountain.” And the king said, “I will give them.”

dénsenos siete varones de sus hijos, para que los ahorquemos delante de Jehová en Gabaa de Saúl, el escogido de Jehová. Y el rey dijo: Yo los daré.

7 B ut the king kept alive Mephibosheth, the son of Saul’s son Jonathan, because David had made a promise to Saul’s son Jonathan before the Lord.

Y perdonó el rey a Mefi-boset hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, por el juramento de Jehová que hubo entre ellos, entre David y Jonatán hijo de Saúl.

8 T he king took the two sons of Aiah’s daughter Rizpah, Armoni and Mephibosheth, whom she had born to Saul. And he took the five sons of Saul’s daughter Merab, whom she had born to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.

Pero tomó el rey a dos hijos de Rizpa hija de Aja, los cuales ella había tenido de Saúl, Armoni y Mefi-boset, y a cinco hijos de Mical hija de Saúl, los cuales ella había tenido de Adriel hijo de Barzilai meholatita,

9 H e gave them to the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before the Lord. The seven of them died together. They were put to death in the first days of gathering time, when the barley was ready to gather.

y los entregó en manos de los gabaonitas, y ellos los ahorcaron en el monte delante de Jehová; y así murieron juntos aquellos siete, los cuales fueron muertos en los primeros días de la siega, al comenzar la siega de la cebada.

10 A iah’s daughter Rizpah spread cloth made from hair on the rock for herself to lie upon, from the beginning of gathering time until the rain fell from the sky upon the bodies. She would not let the birds of the sky rest on them during the day, or the animals of the field during the night.

Entonces Rizpa hija de Aja tomó una tela de cilicio y la tendió para sí sobre el peñasco, desde el principio de la siega hasta que llovió sobre ellos agua del cielo; y no dejó que ninguna ave del cielo se posase sobre ellos de día, ni fieras del campo de noche.

11 D avid was told what Aiah’s daughter Rizpah, Saul’s woman, had done.

Y fue dicho a David lo que hacía Rizpa hija de Aja, concubina de Saúl.

12 T hen he went and took the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from the men of Jabesh-gilead. They had stolen them from the open space in the center of Bethshan. That was where the Philistines had hanged them on the day they killed Saul in Gilboa.

Entonces David fue y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo, de los hombres de Jabes de Galaad, que los habían hurtado de la plaza de Bet-sán, donde los habían colgado los filisteos, cuando los filisteos mataron a Saúl en Gilboa;

13 D avid brought the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan. They gathered the bones of those who had been hanged.

e hizo llevar de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo; y recogieron también los huesos de los ahorcados.

14 A nd they buried the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the grave of Kish his father. They did all that the king told them to do. After that, God heard and answered when they prayed for the land.

Y sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y los de su hijo Jonatán en tierra de Benjamín, en Zela, en el sepulcro de Cis su padre; e hicieron todo lo que el rey había mandado. Y Dios fue propicio a la tierra después de esto. Abisai libra a David del gigante

15 T he Philistines were at war again with Israel. David went down with his servants and they fought the Philistines. And David became tired.

Volvieron los filisteos a hacer la guerra a Israel, y descendió David y sus siervos con él, y pelearon con los filisteos; y David se cansó.

16 T hen Ishbi-benob wanted to kill David. He was one of the sons of the very tall and strong people. His spear weighed as much as 300 pieces of brass, and he had a new sword.

E Isbi-benob, uno de los descendientes de los gigantes, cuya lanza pesaba trescientos siclos de bronce, y quien estaba ceñido con una espada nueva, trató de matar a David;

17 B ut Zeruiah’s son Abishai helped David and killed the Philistine. Then David’s men promised him, “You will not go out again with us to battle. You might put out the lamp of Israel.”

mas Abisai hijo de Sarvia llegó en su ayuda, e hirió al filisteo y lo mató. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron, diciendo: Nunca más de aquí en adelante saldrás con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que apagues la lámpara de Israel. Los hombres de David matan a los gigantes (1 Cr. 20. 4-8)

18 A fter this there was war again with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was one of the sons of the very tall and strong people.

Otra segunda guerra hubo después en Gob contra los filisteos; entonces Sibecai husatita mató a Saf, quien era uno de los descendientes de los gigantes.

19 T here was war with the Philistines again at Gob. And Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite. Goliath’s spear was like the heavy piece of wood used by a cloth-maker.

Hubo otra vez guerra en Gob contra los filisteos, en la cual Elhanán, hijo de Jaare-oregim de Belén, mató a Goliat geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como el rodillo de un telar.

20 T here was war at Gath again. There was a very tall man there who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number. He was one of the sons of the very tall and strong people also.

Después hubo otra guerra en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura, el cual tenía doce dedos en las manos, y otros doce en los pies, veinticuatro por todos; y también era descendiente de los gigantes.

21 W hen he spoke against Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, killed him.

Este desafió a Israel, y lo mató Jonatán, hijo de Simea hermano de David.

22 T hese four were sons of the very tall and strong people in Gath. They were killed by David and his servants.

Estos cuatro eran descendientes de los gigantes en Gat, los cuales cayeron por mano de David y por mano de sus siervos.
