1 С ине мой, не забравяй поуката ми, И сърцето ти нека пази заповедите ми,

My son, forget not my law; But let thy heart keep my commandments:

2 З ащото дългоденствие, години от живот И мир ще ти притурят те.

For length of days, and years of life, And peace, will they add to thee.

3 Б лагост и вярност нека не те оставят; Вържи ги около шията си, Начертай ги на плочата на сърцето си.

Let not kindness and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart:

4 Т ака ще намериш благоволение и добро име Пред Бога и човеците.

So shalt thou find favor and good understanding In the sight of God and man.

5 У повавай на Господа от все сърце, И не се облягай на своя разум.

Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding:

6 В ъв всичките си пътища признавай Него, И Той ще оправя пътеките ти.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths.

7 Н е мисли себе си за мъдър; Бой се от Господа, и отклонявай се от зло;

Be not wise in thine own eyes; Fear Jehovah, and depart from evil:

8 Т ова ще бъде здраве за тялото ти И влага за костите ти.

It will be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones.

9 П очитай Господа от имота си И от първаците на всичкия доход.

Honor Jehovah with thy substance, And with the first-fruits of all thine increase:

10 Т ака ще се изпълнят житниците ти с изобилие, И линовете ти ще се преливат с ново вино.

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy vats shall overflow with new wine.

11 С ине мой, не презирай наказанието от Господа, И да ти не дотегва, когато Той те изобличава,

My son, despise not the chastening of Jehovah; Neither be weary of his reproof:

12 З ащото Господ изобличава оня, когото люби, Както и бащата сина, който му е мил.

For whom Jehovah loveth he reproveth; Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

13 Б лажен оня човек, който е намерил мъдрост, И човек, който е придобил разум,

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, And the man that getteth understanding.

14 З ащото търговията с нея е по-износна от търговията със сребро, И печалбата от нея <по-скъпа> от чисто злато.

For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, And the profit thereof than fine gold.

15 Т я е по-скъпа от безценни камъни И нищо, което би пожелал ти, не се сравнява с нея.

She is more precious than rubies: And none of the things thou canst desire are to be compared unto her.

16 Д ългоденствие е в десницата й, А в левицата й богатство и слава.

Length of days is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.

17 П ътищата й са пътища приятни, И всичките й пътеки мир.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.

18 Т я е дърво на живот за тия, които я прегръщат И блажени са ония, които я държат.

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: And happy is every one that retaineth her.

19 С мъдрост Господ основа земята, С разум утвърди небето.

Jehovah by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding he established the heavens.

20 Ч рез Неговото знание се разтвориха бездните И от облаците капе роса.

By his knowledge the depths were broken up, And the skies drop down the dew.

21 С ине мой, тия <неща> да се не отдалечават от очите ти; Пази здравомислие и разсъдителност,

My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion:

22 Т ака те ще бъдат живот на душата ти И украшение на шията ти.

So shall they be life unto thy soul, And grace to thy neck.

23 Т огава ще ходиш безопасно по пътя си, И ногата ти не ще се спъне.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way securely, And thy foot shall not stumble.

24 К огато лягаш не ще се страхуваш; Да! ще лягаш и сънят ти ще бъде сладък.

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: Yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

25 Н е ще се боиш от внезапен страх, Нито от бурята, когато нападне нечестивите,

Be not afraid of sudden fear, Neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh:

26 З ащото Господ ще бъде твое упование, И ще опази ногата ти да се не хване.

For Jehovah will be thy confidence, And will keep thy foot from being taken.

27 Н е въздържай доброто от ония, на които се дължи, Когато ти дава ръка да <им> го направиш.

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it.

28 Н е казвай на ближния си: Иди върни се пак, И ще ти дам утре, Когато имаш при себе си <това, което му се пада>.

Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and come again, And to-morrow I will give; When thou hast it by thee.

29 Н е измисляй зло против ближния си, Който с увереност живее при тебе.

Devise not evil against thy neighbor, Seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

30 Н е се карай с някого без причина Като не ти е направил зло.

Strive not with a man without cause, If he have done thee no harm.

31 Н е завиждай на насилник човек, И не избирай ни един от пътищата му,

Envy thou not the man of violence, And choose none of his ways.

32 З ащото Господ се гнуси от опакия, Но интимно общува с праведните.

For the perverse is an abomination to Jehovah; But his friendship is with the upright.

33 П роклятия от Господа има в дома на нечестивия; А Той благославя жилището на праведните.

The curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked; But he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.

34 Н аистина Той се присмива на присмивачите, А на смирените дава благодат.

Surely he scoffeth at the scoffers; But he giveth grace unto the lowly.

35 М ъдрите ще наследят слава, А безумните ще отнесат срам.

The wise shall inherit glory; But shame shall be the promotion of fools.
