1 T hen Job answered and said,

Entonces respondió Job y dijo:

2 H ow long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?

¿Hasta cuándo me angustiaréis y me aplastaréis con palabras?

3 T hese ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.

Estas diez veces me habéis insultado, ¿no os da vergüenza perjudicarme?

4 A nd be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.

Aunque en verdad yo haya errado, mi error queda conmigo.

5 I f indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:

Si en verdad os jactáis contra mí, y comprobáis mi oprobio,

6 k now now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

sabed ahora que Dios me ha agraviado y me ha envuelto en su red.

7 B ehold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

He aquí, yo grito: “¡Violencia!”, pero no obtengo respuesta; clamo pidiendo ayuda, pero no hay justicia.

8 H e hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

El ha amurallado mi camino y no puedo pasar, y ha puesto tinieblas en mis sendas.

9 H e hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

Me ha despojado de mi honor y quitado la corona de mi cabeza.

10 H e hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

Me destruye por todos lados, y perezco, y como a un árbol ha arrancado mi esperanza.

11 H e hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.

También ha encendido su ira contra mí y me ha considerado su enemigo.

12 H is troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.

Se concentran a una sus ejércitos, preparan su camino de asalto contra mí, y alrededor de mi tienda acampan.

13 H e hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

El ha alejado de mí a mis hermanos, y mis conocidos están apartados completamente de mí.

14 M y kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

Mis parientes me fallaron y mis íntimos amigos me han olvidado.

15 T hey that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

Los moradores de mi casa y mis criadas me tienen por extraño, extranjero soy a sus ojos.

16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

Llamo a mi siervo, y no responde, con mi propia boca tengo que rogarle.

17 M y breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.

Mi aliento es odioso a mi mujer, y soy repugnante a mis propios hermanos.

18 Y ea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.

Hasta los niños me desprecian, me levanto, y hablan contra mí.

19 A ll my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

Todos mis compañeros me aborrecen, y los que amo se han vuelto contra mí.

20 M y bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

Mis huesos se pegan a mi piel y a mi carne, y sólo he escapado con la piel de mis dientes.

21 H ave pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

Tened piedad, tened piedad de mí, vosotros mis amigos, porque la mano de Dios me ha herido.

22 W hy do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

¿Por qué me perseguís como Dios lo hace, y no os saciáis ya de mi carne?

23 O h that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!

¡Oh, si mis palabras se escribieran, si se grabaran en un libro!

24 T hat they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!

¡Si con cincel de hierro y con plomo fueran esculpidas en piedra para siempre!

25 F or I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Yo sé que mi Redentor vive, y al final se levantará sobre el polvo.

26 a nd though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

Y después de deshecha mi piel, aun en mi carne veré a Dios;

27 w hom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

al cual yo mismo contemplaré, y a quien mis ojos verán y no los de otro. ¡Desfallece mi corazón dentro de mí!

28 B ut ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?

Si decís: “¿Cómo le perseguiremos ?”, y: “¿Qué pretexto hallaremos contra él ?”,

29 B e ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.

temed la espada vosotros mismos, porque el furor trae el castigo de la espada para que sepáis que hay juicio.
