3 A s I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

Como te rogué al partir para Macedonia que te quedaras en Efeso para que instruyeras a algunos que no enseñaran doctrinas extrañas,

4 n either give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

5 N ow the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Pero el propósito de nuestra instrucción es el amor nacido de un corazón puro, de una buena conciencia y de una fe sincera.

6 f rom which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

Pues algunos, desviándose de estas cosas, se han apartado hacia una vana palabrería,

7 d esiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

queriendo ser maestros de la ley, aunque no entienden lo que dicen ni las cosas acerca de las cuales hacen declaraciones categóricas.

8 B ut we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

Pero nosotros sabemos que la ley es buena, si uno la usa legítimamente,

9 k nowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

reconociendo esto: que la ley no ha sido instituida para el justo, sino para los transgresores y rebeldes, para los impíos y pecadores, para los irreverentes y profanos, para los parricidas y matricidas, para los homicidas,

10 f or whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

para los inmorales, homosexuales, secuestradores, mentirosos, los que juran en falso, y para cualquier otra cosa que es contraria a la sana doctrina,

11 a ccording to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

según el glorioso evangelio del Dios bendito, que me ha sido encomendado. Gratitud de Pablo por la gracia de Dios

12 A nd I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

Doy gracias a Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, que me ha fortalecido, porque me tuvo por fiel, poniéndome en el ministerio;

13 w ho was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

aun habiendo sido yo antes blasfemo, perseguidor y agresor. Sin embargo, se me mostró misericordia porque lo hice por ignorancia en mi incredulidad.

14 A nd the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Pero la gracia de nuestro Señor fue más que abundante, con la fe y el amor que se hallan en Cristo Jesús.

15 T his is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Palabra fiel y digna de ser aceptada por todos: Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar a los pecadores, entre los cuales yo soy el primero.

16 H owbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Sin embargo, por esto hallé misericordia, para que en mí, como el primero, Jesucristo demostrara toda su paciencia como un ejemplo para los que habrían de creer en El para vida eterna.

17 N ow unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Por tanto, al Rey eterno, inmortal, invisible, único Dios, a El sea honor y gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. Instrucciones a Timoteo

18 T his charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

Esta comisión te confío, hijo Timoteo, conforme a las profecías que antes se hicieron en cuanto a ti, a fin de que por ellas pelees la buena batalla,

19 h olding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

guardando la fe y una buena conciencia, que algunos han rechazado y naufragaron en lo que toca a la fe.

20 o f whom is Hymenæus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Entre los cuales están Himeneo y Alejandro, a quienes he entregado a Satanás, para que aprendan a no blasfemar.
