1 I n the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

En el año doce de Acaz, rey de Judá, Oseas, hijo de Ela, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, y reinó nueve años.

2 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, aunque no como los reyes de Israel que habían sido antes de él.

3 A gainst him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

Subió contra él Salmanasar, rey de Asiria, y Oseas fue hecho su siervo, y le pagaba tributo.

4 A nd the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

Pero el rey de Asiria descubrió una conspiración de Oseas, quien había enviado mensajeros a So, rey de Egipto, y no había pagado tributo al rey de Asiria como había hecho año tras año; por tanto el rey de Asiria lo detuvo y lo encadenó en la cárcel.

5 T hen the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

Entonces el rey de Asiria invadió todo el país y subió a Samaria, y le puso sitio por tres años.

6 I n the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

En el año noveno de Oseas, el rey de Asiria tomó Samaria y se llevó a Israel al destierro en Asiria, y los puso en Halah y en Habor, río de Gozán, y en las ciudades de los medos.

7 F or so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

Esto sucedió porque los hijos de Israel habían pecado contra el Señor su Dios, que los había sacado de la tierra de Egipto de bajo la mano de Faraón, rey de Egipto, y habían reverenciado a otros dioses;

8 a nd walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

y anduvieron en las costumbres de las naciones que el Señor había arrojado de delante de los hijos de Israel, y en las costumbres de los reyes de Israel que ellos habían introducido.

9 A nd the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

Y los hijos de Israel secretamente hicieron cosas que no eran rectas contra el Señor su Dios. Además se edificaron lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, desde las torres de atalaya hasta las ciudades fortificadas.

10 A nd they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

Se erigieron pilares sagrados y Aseras sobre toda colina alta y bajo todo árbol frondoso,

11 a nd there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lord carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger:

y quemaron incienso allí en todos los lugares altos, como las naciones que el Señor se había llevado al destierro de delante de ellos; e hicieron cosas malas provocando al Señor.

12 f or they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

Y sirvieron a ídolos, acerca de los cuales el Señor les había dicho: Vosotros no haréis esto.

13 Y et the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

Y el Señor amonestaba a Israel y a Judá por medio de todos sus profetas y de todo vidente, diciendo: Volveos de vuestros malos caminos y guardad mis mandamientos, mis estatutos conforme a toda la ley que ordené a vuestros padres y que os envié por medio de mis siervos los profetas.

14 N otwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.

Sin embargo, ellos no escucharon, sino que endurecieron su cerviz como sus padres, que no creyeron en el Señor su Dios.

15 A nd they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.

Desecharon sus estatutos y el pacto que El había hecho con sus padres, y sus advertencias con las cuales los había amonestado. Y siguieron la vanidad y se hicieron vanos, y fueron en pos de las naciones que los rodeaban, respecto de las cuales el Señor les había ordenado que no hicieran como ellas.

16 A nd they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

Y abandonaron todos los mandamientos del Señor su Dios, y se hicieron imágenes fundidas de dos becerros; hicieron una Asera, adoraron a todo el ejército de los cielos y sirvieron a Baal.

17 A nd they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

Hicieron pasar por el fuego a sus hijos y a sus hijas, practicaron la adivinación y los augurios, y se entregaron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, provocándole.

18 T herefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

Y el Señor se airó en gran manera contra Israel y los quitó de su presencia; no quedó sino sólo la tribu de Judá.

19 A lso Judah kept not the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

Tampoco Judá guardó los mandamientos del Señor su Dios, sino que anduvieron en las costumbres que Israel había introducido.

20 A nd the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

Y el Señor desechó a toda la descendencia de Israel, y los afligió y los entregó en mano de saqueadores, hasta que los echó de su presencia.

21 F or he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the Lord, and made them sin a great sin.

Cuando El arrancó a Israel de la casa de David, ellos hicieron rey a Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat. Entonces Jeroboam apartó a Israel de seguir al Señor, y les hizo cometer un gran pecado.

22 F or the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

Y los hijos de Israel anduvieron en todos los pecados que había cometido Jeroboam; no se apartaron de ellos,

23 u ntil the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

hasta que el Señor quitó a Israel de su presencia, como El había hablado por medio de todos sus siervos los profetas. E Israel fue llevado de su propia tierra al destierro, a Asiria, hasta hoy.

24 A nd the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

Y el rey de Asiria trajo hombres de Babilonia, de Cuta, de Ava, de Hamat y de Sefarvaim, y los puso en las ciudades de Samaria en lugar de los hijos de Israel. Y tomaron posesión de Samaria y habitaron en sus ciudades.

25 A nd so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

Y aconteció que como al principio de habitar ellos allí, no temieron al Señor, el Señor envió leones entre ellos que mataron a muchos de ellos.

26 W herefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

Entonces hablaron al rey de Asiria, diciendo: Las naciones que has llevado al destierro a las ciudades de Samaria, no conocen la costumbre del dios de la tierra; por eso él ha enviado leones entre ellos, y he aquí, los leones los matan porque ellos no conocen la costumbre del dios de la tierra.

27 T hen the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

Y el rey de Asiria ordenó, diciendo: Llevad allá a uno de los sacerdotes que llevasteis al destierro, y que él vaya y habite allí; y que les enseñe la costumbre del dios de la tierra.

28 T hen one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth-el, and taught them how they should fear the Lord.

Y vino uno de los sacerdotes que habían llevado al destierro desde Samaria, y habitó en Betel, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer al Señor.

29 H owbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.

Pero cada nación continuó haciendo sus propios dioses, y los pusieron en las casas de los lugares altos que los samaritanos habían hecho, cada nación en las ciudades en que habitaban.

30 A nd the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

Y los hombres de Babilonia hicieron a Sucot-benot; los hombres de Cuta hicieron a Nergal; los hombres de Hamat hicieron a Asima;

31 a nd the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

y los aveos hicieron a Nibhaz y a Tartac; y los de Sefarvaim quemaban a sus hijos en el fuego como ofrenda a Adramelec y Anamelec, dioses de Sefarvaim.

32 S o they feared the Lord, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

También temían al Señor y nombraron de entre sí sacerdotes de los lugares altos, que oficiaban por ellos en las casas de los lugares altos.

33 T hey feared the Lord, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

Temían al Señor y servían a sus dioses conforme a la costumbre de las naciones de donde habían sido llevados al destierro.

34 U nto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the Lord, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

Hasta el día de hoy siguen haciendo conforme a sus antiguas costumbres. No temen al Señor, ni siguen sus estatutos ni sus ordenanzas ni la ley ni el mandamiento que el Señor había ordenado a los hijos de Jacob, a quien puso el nombre de Israel,

35 w ith whom the Lord had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

con los cuales el Señor hizo un pacto y les ordenó, diciendo: No temeréis a otros dioses ni os inclinaréis ante ellos, no los serviréis ni les ofreceréis sacrificios.

36 b ut the Lord, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

Sino que al Señor, que os hizo subir de la tierra de Egipto con gran poder y con brazo extendido, a El temeréis y ante El os inclinaréis y a El ofreceréis sacrificios.

37 A nd the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

Y los estatutos, las ordenanzas, la ley y el mandamiento que El os escribió, cuidaréis de cumplir los siempre, y no temeréis a otros dioses.

38 A nd the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

Y el pacto que he hecho con vosotros, no lo olvidaréis, ni temeréis a otros dioses.

39 B ut the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

Sino que al Señor vuestro Dios temeréis, y El os librará de la mano de todos vuestros enemigos.

40 H owbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

Pero ellos no escucharon, sino que hicieron conforme a su antigua costumbre.

41 S o these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

Y aunque estas naciones temían al Señor, también servían a sus ídolos; y de la misma manera que hicieron sus padres, así hacen hasta hoy sus hijos y sus nietos.
