1 T he king's heart is in the hand of Jehovah as the watercourses: He turneth it whithersoever he will.

Como los repartimientos de las aguas, Así está el corazón del rey en la mano de Jehová; Adonde quiere lo inclina.

2 E very way of a man is right in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the hearts.

Todo camino del hombre es recto en su propia opinión; Pero Jehová pesa los corazones.

3 T o do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.

Practicar el derecho y la justicia Es a Jehová más agradable que los sacrificios.

4 A high look, and a proud heart, Even the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

Altivez de ojos, y orgullo de corazón, Y pensamiento de impíos, son pecado.

5 T he thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; But every one that is hasty hasteth only to want.

Los pensamientos del diligente ciertamente producen ganancia; Mas todo el que se apresura alocadamente, de cierto va a la pobreza.

6 T he getting of treasures by a lying tongue Is a vapor driven to and fro by them that seek death.

Amontonar tesoros con lengua mentirosa Es vanidad pasajera de hombres que buscan la muerte.

7 T he violence of the wicked shall sweep them away, Because they refuse to do justice.

La rapiña de los impíos los destruirá, Por cuanto rehúsan practicar la equidad.

8 T he way of him that is laden with guilt is exceeding crooked; But as for the pure, his work is right.

El camino del hombre perverso es tortuoso y extraño; Mas los hechos del limpio son rectos.

9 I t is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, Than with a contentious woman in a wide house.

Mejor es vivir en un rincón del terrado Que con mujer rencillosa en casa espaciosa.

10 T he soul of the wicked desireth evil: His neighbor findeth no favor in his eyes.

El alma del impío desea el mal; Su prójimo no halla favor en sus ojos.

11 W hen the scoffer is punished, the simple is made wise; And when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

Cuando el escarnecedor es castigado, el simple se hace sabio; Y cuando se le amonesta al sabio, aprende ciencia.

12 T he righteous man considereth the house of the wicked, How the wicked are overthrown to their ruin.

El justo observa la casa del impío, Y cómo los impíos se precipitan en la ruina.

13 W hoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, He also shall cry, but shall not be heard.

El que cierra su oído al clamor del pobre, También él clamará, y no será oído.

14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger; And a present in the bosom, strong wrath.

La dádiva en secreto calma el furor. Y el don de debajo del manto, la fuerte ira.

15 I t is joy to the righteous to do justice; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

Es un placer para el justo el practicar la justicia; Mas el espanto es para los que hacen iniquidad.

16 T he man that wandereth out of the way of understanding Shall rest in the assembly of the dead.

El hombre que se aparta del camino de la sabiduría Vendrá a parar en la compañía de los muertos.

17 H e that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: He that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

Hombre menesteroso vendrá a ser el que ama el deleite, Y el que ama el vino y los perfumes no se enriquecerá.

18 T he wicked is a ransom for the righteous; And the treacherous cometh in the stead of the upright.

Rescate del justo es el impío, Y por los rectos, el prevaricador.

19 I t is better to dwell in a desert land, Than with a contentious and fretful woman.

Mejor es morar en tierra desierta Que con la mujer rencillosa e iracunda.

20 T here is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; But a foolish man swalloweth it up.

Tesoro precioso y aceite hay en la casa del sabio; Mas el hombre insensato todo lo disipa.

21 H e that followeth after righteousness and kindness Findeth life, righteousness, and honor.

El que sigue la justicia y la misericordia Hallará la vida, la prosperidad y la gloria.

22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, And bringeth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

Toma por asalto el sabio la ciudad de los fuertes, Y derriba la fortaleza en que ella confiaba.

23 W hoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue Keepeth his soul from troubles.

El que guarda su boca y su lengua, Su alma guarda de angustias.

24 T he proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name; He worketh in the arrogance of pride.

Escarnecedor es el nombre del soberbio y presuntuoso Que obra en la insolencia de su presunción.

25 T he desire of the sluggard killeth him; For his hands refuse to labor.

El deseo del perezoso le mata, Porque sus manos no quieren trabajar.

26 T here is that coveteth greedily all the day long; But the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.

Hay quien todo el día codicia; Pero el justo da sin escatimar.

27 T he sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: How much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind!

El sacrificio de los impíos es abominación; ¡Cuánto más ofreciéndolo con mala intención!

28 A false witness shall perish; But the man that heareth shall speak so as to endure.

El testigo mentiroso perecerá; Mas el hombre que escucha, tendrá la última palabra.

29 A wicked man hardeneth his face; But as for the upright, he establisheth his ways.

El hombre impío endurece su rostro; Mas el recto ordena sus caminos.

30 T here is no wisdom nor understanding Nor counsel against Jehovah.

No hay sabiduría, ni inteligencia, Ni consejo, contra Jehová.

31 T he horse is prepared against the day of battle; But victory is of Jehovah.

El caballo se apareja para el día de la batalla; Mas Jehová es el que da la victoria.
