1 W hen I would heal Israel, then is the iniquity of Ephraim uncovered, and the wickedness of Samaria; for they commit falsehood, and the thief entereth in, and the troop of robbers ravageth without.

Mientras quería curar yo a Israel, se descubrió la iniquidad de Efraín, y las maldades de Samaria; porque practican mentira; y entra el ladrón mientras afuera saquean los bandidos.

2 A nd they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now have their own doings beset them about; they are before my face.

Y no consideran en su corazón que tengo en memoria toda su maldad; ahora les rodean sus obras; delante de mí están.

3 T hey make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

Con su maldad recrean al rey, y a los príncipes con sus mentiras.

4 T hey are all adulterers; they are as an oven heated by the baker; he ceaseth to stir the fire, from the kneading of the dough, until it be leavened.

Todos ellos son adúlteros; son como horno encendido por el hornero, que cesa de avivar el fuego después que está hecha la masa, y espera a que fermente.

5 O n the day of our king the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine; he stretched out his hand with scoffers.

En el día de nuestro rey los príncipes se hicieron enfermar con el ardor del vino; y él tendió su mano a los escarnecedores.

6 F or they have made ready their heart like an oven, while they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

Aplicaron su corazón, semejante a un horno, a sus intrigas; toda la noche duerme su hornero; a la mañana está encendido como llama de fuego.

7 T hey are all hot as an oven, and devour their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

Todos ellos arden como un horno, y devoran a sus jueces; cayeron todos sus reyes; no hay entre ellos quien clame a mí.

8 E phraim, he mixeth himself among the peoples; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

Efraín se ha mezclado con los demás pueblos; Efraín es como una torta a la que no se le ha dado vuelta.

9 S trangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, and he knoweth it not.

Los extranjeros devoran su vigor sin que él se dé cuenta; se ha llenado de canas, y aún no se ha enterado.

10 A nd the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: yet they have not returned unto Jehovah their God, nor sought him, for all this.

Y la soberbia de Israel testifica contra él en su cara; y aun así no se volvieron a Jehová su Dios, ni lo buscan con todo eso.

11 A nd Ephraim is like a silly dove, without understanding: they call unto Egypt, they go to Assyria.

Efraín es como una paloma incauta, sin entendimiento; llaman a Egipto, acuden a Asiria.

12 W hen they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the heavens; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

Mientras vayan, tenderé sobre ellos mi red; les haré caer como aves del cielo; les castigaré conforme a lo decretado contra sus maldades.

13 W oe unto them! for they have wandered from me; destruction unto them! for they have trespassed against me: though I would redeem them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

¡Ay de ellos!, porque se apartaron de mí; destrucción vendrá sobre ellos, porque se rebelaron contra mí; yo los redimí, y ellos hablaron mentiras contra mí.

14 A nd they have not cried unto me with their heart, but they howl upon their beds: they assemble themselves for grain and new wine; they rebel against me.

Y no claman a mí con su corazón cuando aúllan sobre sus almohadillas; sino que se congregan para el trigo y el mosto, y se rebelan contra mí.

15 T hough I have taught and strengthened their arms, yet do they devise mischief against me.

Y aunque yo los adiestré y fortalecí sus brazos, maquinaron el mal contra mí.

16 T hey return, but not to him that is on high; they are like a deceitful bow; their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

Se vuelven, pero no hacia lo alto; son como arco engañoso; caerán sus príncipes a espada por la insolencia de su lengua; esto será su escarnio en la tierra de Egipto.
