1 A nd again he began to teach by the sea side. And there is gathered unto him a very great multitude, so that he entered into a boat, and sat in the sea; and all the multitude were by the sea on the land.

Otra vez comenzó Jesús a enseñar junto al mar, y se reunió ante él una multitud tan grande, que hubo de subir a una barca y, ya en el mar, se sentó; y toda la multitud estaba en tierra, frente al mar.

2 A nd he taught them many things in parables, and said unto them in his teaching,

Y les enseñaba muchas cosas en parábolas, y les decía en su enseñanza:

3 H earken: Behold, the sower went forth to sow:

Oíd: Salió el sembrador a sembrar;

4 a nd it came to pass, as he sowed, some seed fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured it.

y aconteció que, al sembrar, una parte cayó junto al camino, y vinieron las aves y se la comieron.

5 A nd other fell on the rocky ground, where it had not much earth; and straightway it sprang up, because it had no deepness of earth:

Otra parte cayó en pedregales, donde no tenía mucha tierra; y brotó en seguida, porque no tenía profundidad de tierra.

6 a nd when the sun was risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

Pero cuando salió el sol, se agostó, y por no tener raíz, se marchitó.

7 A nd other fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

Otra parte cayó entre espinos; y los espinos crecieron y la ahogaron, y no dio fruto.

8 A nd others fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing; and brought forth, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.

Y otra parte cayó en tierra buena, y daba fruto que brotaba y crecía, y producía treinta, sesenta y hasta ciento por uno.

9 A nd he said, Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Y les decía: El que tiene oídos para oír, que oiga.

10 A nd when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parables.

Cuando se quedó solo, los que le rodeaban con los doce, le preguntaron sobre las parábolas.

11 A nd he said unto them, Unto you is given the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all things are done in parables:

Y les decía: A vosotros os ha sido dado el misterio del reino de Dios; pero a los que están fuera, todo se les presenta en parábolas;

12 t hat seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest haply they should turn again, and it should be forgiven them.

para que, por mucho que sigan mirando, vean, pero no perciban; y por mucho que sigan escuchando, oigan, pero no entiendan; no sea que se conviertan, y se les perdone.

13 A nd he saith unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how shall ye know all the parables?

Y les dijo: ¿No entendéis esta parábola? ¿Cómo, pues, entenderéis todas las demás?

14 T he sower soweth the word.

El sembrador siembra la palabra.

15 A nd these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, straightway cometh Satan, and taketh away the word which hath been sown in them.

Algunos son como los de junto al camino, donde se siembra la palabra, que, en cuanto la oyen, en seguida viene Satanás, y se lleva la palabra que ha sido sembrada en ellos.

16 A nd these in like manner are they that are sown upon the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with joy;

Otros son como los que fueron sembrados en pedregales, que cuando oyen la palabra, al momento la reciben con gozo;

17 a nd they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble.

pero no tienen raíz en sí mismos, sino que son inconstantes; y luego, cuando viene la tribulación o la persecución por causa de la palabra, en seguida sufren tropiezo.

18 A nd others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they that have heard the word,

Otros son los que fueron sembrados entre espinos; éstos son los que oyen la palabra,

19 a nd the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

pero las preocupaciones del mundo, el engaño de las riquezas, y los deseos de las restantes cosas, entran y ahogan la palabra, y se vuelve infructuosa.

20 A nd those are they that were sown upon the good ground; such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.

Otros, en fin, son los que fueron sembrados en tierra buena; los cuales oyen la palabra y la reciben, y dan fruto al treinta, al sesenta, y al ciento por uno. Nada oculto que no haya de ser manifestado

21 A nd he said unto them, Is the lamp brought to be put under the bushel, or under the bed, and not to be put on the stand?

También les decía: ¿Acaso se trae la lámpara para ponerla debajo del almud, o debajo de la cama? ¿No es para ser puesta sobre el candelero?

22 F or there is nothing hid, save that it should be manifested; neither was anything made secret, but that it should come to light.

Porque no hay nada oculto sino para ser manifestado; ni ha sucedido en secreto, sino para salir a la luz.

23 I f any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.

El que tiene oídos para oír, que oiga.

24 A nd he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete it shall be measured unto you; and more shall be given unto you.

Les decía también: Atended a lo que oís; con la medida con que midáis, os será medido, y aun se os añadirá.

25 F or he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath.

Porque al que tiene, se le dará; y al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará. Parábola del crecimiento de la semilla

26 A nd he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed upon the earth;

Decía además: El reino de Dios es como un hombre que echa semilla en la tierra;

27 a nd should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he knoweth not how.

y, ya duerma, ya se levante, de noche y de día, la semilla brota y crece de un modo que él mismo no sabe.

28 T he earth beareth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.

La tierra da el fruto por sí misma, primero el tallo, luego la espiga, después grano abundante en la espiga;

29 B ut when the fruit is ripe, straightway he putteth forth the sickle, because the harvest is come.

y cuando el fruto lo admite, en seguida mete la hoz, porque ha llegado la siega. Parábola de la semilla de mostaza

30 A nd he said, How shall we liken the kingdom of God? or in what parable shall we set it forth?

Decía también: ¿A qué compararemos el reino de Dios, o con qué parábola lo expondremos?

31 I t is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown upon the earth, though it be less than all the seeds that are upon the earth,

Es como un grano de mostaza, que cuando se siembra en tierra, es más pequeño que todas las semillas que hay en la tierra;

32 y et when it is sown, groweth up, and becometh greater than all the herbs, and putteth out great branches; so that the birds of the heaven can lodge under the shadow thereof.

pero después de sembrado, crece, y se hace mayor que todas las hortalizas, y echa unas ramas tan grandes, que las aves del cielo pueden cobijarse bajo su sombra. Jesucristo hace uso de las parábolas

33 A nd with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it;

Con muchas parábolas como éstas les hablaba la palabra conforme a lo que podían oír.

34 a nd without a parable spake he not unto them: but privately to his own disciples he expounded all things.

Y sin parábolas no les hablaba; pero a sus propios discípulos les explicaba todo en privado. Jesucristo calma la tempestad

35 A nd on that day, when even was come, he saith unto them, Let us go over unto the other side.

Aquel mismo día, al atardecer, les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado.

36 A nd leaving the multitude, they take him with them, even as he was, in the boat. And other boats were with him.

Y despidiendo a la multitud, se lo llevaron consigo en la barca, tal como estaba; y había otras barcas con él.

37 A nd there ariseth a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, insomuch that the boat was now filling.

En esto, se levantó una violenta tempestad de viento, y las olas irrumpían en la barca, de tal manera que ya se estaba llenando.

38 A nd he himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion: and they awake him, and say unto him, Teacher, carest thou not that we perish?

Y él estaba en la popa, durmiendo sobre un cabezal. Entonces le despiertan y le dicen: Maestro, ¿no te importa que estemos pereciendo?

39 A nd he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Él se levantó, increpó al viento, y dijo al mar: ¡Calla, enmudece! Entonces amainó el viento, y sobrevino una gran calma.

40 A nd he said unto them, Why are ye fearful? have ye not yet faith?

Y les dijo: ¿Por qué sois tan miedosos? ¿Cómo es que no tenéis fe?

41 A nd they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Ellos se aterraron mucho, y se decían unos a otros: ¿Pues quién es éste, que hasta el viento y el mar le obedecen?
