1 M oreover, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,

Y tú, levanta endecha sobre los príncipes de Israel.

2 a nd say, What was thy mother? A lioness: she couched among lions, in the midst of the young lions she nourished her whelps.

Dirás: ¡Qué leona fue tu madre! ¡Se echaba entre los leones, entre los leoncillos crió sus cachorros!

3 A nd she brought up one of her whelps: he became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey; he devoured men.

E hizo subir a uno de sus cachorros; el cual vino a ser un león joven, y aprendió a arrebatar la presa, y a devorar hombres.

4 T he nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks unto the land of Egypt.

Y las naciones se juntaron contra él; fue tomado en la trampa de ellas, y lo llevaron con garfios a la tierra de Egipto.

5 N ow when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion.

Viendo ella que su espera había resultado fallida, y que se perdía su esperanza, tomó otro de sus cachorros, y lo puso por león joven.

6 A nd he went up and down among the lions; he became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey; he devoured men.

Y él subía y bajaba entre los leones; se hizo león joven, aprendió a arrebatar la presa, devoró hombres,

7 A nd he knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, because of the noise of his roaring.

saqueó fortalezas, y asoló ciudades; y la tierra fue desolada, y cuanto había en ella, al estruendo de sus rugidos.

8 T hen the nations set against him on every side from the provinces; and they spread their net over him; he was taken in their pit.

Arremetieron contra él las gentes de las provincias de alrededor, y tendieron sobre él sus redes y fue apresado en el foso.

9 A nd they put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon; they brought him into strongholds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.

Y con garfios le encerraron en una jaula y lo llevaron al rey de Babilonia; le metieron en fortalezas, para que su voz no se oyese más sobre los montes de Israel.

10 T hy mother was like a vine, in thy blood, planted by the waters: it was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.

Tu madre fue como una vid en medio de la viña, plantada junto a las aguas, dando fruto y echando vástagos a causa de las muchas aguas.

11 A nd it had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and their stature was exalted among the thick boughs, and they were seen in their height with the multitude of their branches.

Y ella echó robustos sarmientos apropiados para cetros de reyes; y se elevó su estatura por encima de los espesos arbustos, y fue vista por causa de su altura con la multitud de sus sarmientos.

12 B ut it was plucked up in fury, it was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit: its strong rods were broken off and withered; the fire consumed them.

Pero fue arrancada con ira, derribada en tierra, y el viento solano secó su fruto; sus fuertes sarmientos fueron quebrados y se secaron; los consumió el fuego.

13 A nd now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land.

Y ahora está plantada en el desierto, en tierra de sequedad y de aridez.

14 A nd fire is gone out of the rods of its branches, it hath devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.

Y ha salido fuego de una vara de sus sarmientos, que ha consumido su fruto, y no ha quedado en ella rama fuerte para cetro de rey. Endecha es ésta, y de endecha servirá.
