1 A nd it came to pass, when all the nation were clean passed over the Jordan, that Jehovah spake unto Joshua, saying,

Cuando toda la gente acabó de pasar el Jordán, Jehová habló a Josué, diciendo:

2 T ake you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,

Escoged del pueblo doce hombres, uno de cada tribu,

3 a nd command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place, where ye shall lodge this night.

y mandadles, diciendo: Tomad de aquí de en medio del Jordán, del lugar donde están firmes los pies de los sacerdotes, doce piedras, las cuales pasaréis con vosotros, y levantadlas en el lugar donde habéis de pasar la noche.

4 T hen Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:

Entonces Josué llamó a los doce hombres a los cuales él había designado de entre los hijos de Israel, uno de cada tribu.

5 a nd Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of Jehovah your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;

Y les dijo Josué: Pasad delante del arca de Jehová vuestro Dios a la mitad del Jordán, y cada uno de vosotros tome una piedra sobre su hombro, conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de Israel,

6 t hat this may be a sign among you, that, when your children ask in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?

para que esto sea señal entre vosotros; y cuando vuestros hijos pregunten a sus padres mañana, diciendo: ¿Qué significan estas piedras?,

7 t hen ye shall say unto them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah; when it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.

les responderéis: Que las aguas del Jordán fueron divididas delante del arca del pacto de Jehová; cuando ella pasó el Jordán, las aguas del Jordán se dividieron; y estas piedras servirán de monumento conmemorativo a los hijos de Israel para siempre.

8 A nd the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.

Y los hijos de Israel lo hicieron así como Josué les mandó: sacaron doce piedras de en medio del Jordán, como Jehová lo había dicho a Josué, conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de Israel, y las pasaron al lugar donde acamparon, y las levantaron allí.

9 A nd Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests that bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.

Josué también levantó doce piedras en medio del Jordán, en el lugar donde estuvieron los pies de los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca del pacto; y han estado allí hasta hoy. Fin del paso

10 F or the priests that bare the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until everything was finished that Jehovah commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.

Y los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca se pararon en medio del Jordán hasta que se hizo todo lo que Jehová había mandado a Josué que dijese al pueblo, conforme a todas las cosas que Moisés había mandado a Josué; y el pueblo se dio prisa y pasó.

11 A nd it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of Jehovah passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.

Y cuando todo el pueblo acabó de pasar, también pasó el arca de Jehová, y los sacerdotes, en presencia del pueblo.

12 A nd the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:

También los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés pasaron armados delante de los hijos de Israel, según Moisés les había dicho;

13 a bout forty thousand ready armed for war passed over before Jehovah unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.

como cuarenta mil hombres armados, listos para la guerra, pasaron hacia la llanura de Jericó delante de Jehová.

14 O n that day Jehovah magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

En aquel día Jehová engrandeció a Josué a los ojos de todo Israel; y le temieron, como habían temido a Moisés, todos los días de su vida.

15 A nd Jehovah spake unto Joshua, saying,

Luego Jehová habló a Josué, diciendo:

16 C ommand the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan.

Manda a los sacerdotes que llevan el arca del testimonio, que salgan del Jordán.

17 J oshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of the Jordan.

Y Josué mandó a los sacerdotes, diciendo: Subid del Jordán.

18 A nd it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah were come up out of the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up unto the dry ground, that the waters of the Jordan returned unto their place, and went over all its banks, as aforetime.

Y aconteció que cuando los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca del pacto de Jehová subieron de en medio del Jordán, y las plantas de los pies de los sacerdotes estuvieron en lugar seco, las aguas del Jordán siguieron por su cauce, corriendo como antes sobre todos sus bordes.

19 A nd the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Jericho.

Y el pueblo salió del Jordán el día diez del mes primero, y acamparon en Gilgal, al lado oriental de Jericó.

20 A nd those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, did Joshua set up in Gilgal.

Y Josué erigió en Gilgal las doce piedras que habían traído del Jordán.

21 A nd he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?

Y habló a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Cuando mañana pregunten vuestros hijos a sus padres, y digan: ¿Qué significan estas piedras?,

22 T hen ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.

se lo explicaréis a vuestros hijos, diciendo: Israel pasó en seco por este Jordán.

23 F or Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were passed over;

Porque Jehová vuestro Dios secó las aguas del Jordán delante de vosotros, hasta que habíais pasado, lo mismo que había hecho Jehová vuestro Dios en el Mar Rojo, el cual secó delante de nosotros hasta que pasamos;

24 t hat all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty; that ye may fear Jehovah your God for ever.

para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan que la mano de Jehová es poderosa; para que temáis a Jehová vuestro Dios todos los días.
