1 W hen Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered.

Habiendo dicho estas cosas, salió Jesús con sus discípulos hacia el otro lado del torrente de Cedrón, donde había un huerto, en el cual entró él y sus discípulos.

2 A nd Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples.

Y también Judas, el que le entregaba, conocía aquel lugar, porque Jesús se había reunido allí muchas veces con sus discípulos.

3 T hen Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.

Judas, pues, tomando una compañía de soldados, y alguaciles de los principales sacerdotes y de los fariseos, fue allí con linternas y antorchas, y con armas.

4 J esus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, “Whom are you seeking?”

Pero Jesús, sabiendo todas las cosas que le habían de sobrevenir, se adelantó y les dijo: ¿A quién buscáis?

5 T hey answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am He. ” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.

Le respondieron: A Jesús nazareno. Jesús les dijo: Yo soy. Y estaba también con ellos Judas, el que le entregaba.

6 N ow when He said to them, “I am He, ” they drew back and fell to the ground.

Cuando les dijo: Yo soy, retrocedieron, y cayeron en tierra.

7 T hen He asked them again, “Whom are you seeking?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

Volvió, pues, a preguntarles: ¿A quién buscáis? Y ellos dijeron: A Jesús nazareno.

8 J esus answered, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,”

Respondió Jesús: Os he dicho que yo soy; pues si me buscáis a mí, dejad ir a éstos;

9 t hat the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, “Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none.”

para que se cumpliese aquello que había dicho: De los que me diste, no perdí ninguno.

10 T hen Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

Entonces Simón Pedro, que tenía una espada, la desenvainó, e hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote, y le cortó la oreja derecha. Y el siervo se llamaba Malco.

11 S o Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?” Before the High Priest

Jesús entonces dijo a Pedro: Mete tu espada en la vaina; la copa que el Padre me ha dado, ¿acaso no la he de beber? Jesucristo ante el sumo sacerdote

12 T hen the detachment of troops and the captain and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him.

Entonces la compañía de soldados, el tribuno y los alguaciles de los judíos, prendieron a Jesús y le ataron,

13 A nd they led Him away to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas who was high priest that year.

y le llevaron primeramente a Anás; porque era suegro de Caifás, que era sumo sacerdote aquel año.

14 N ow it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. Peter Denies Jesus

Era Caifás el que había dado el consejo a los judíos, de que convenía que un solo hombre muriese por el pueblo. Pedro en el patio de Anás

15 A nd Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.

Y seguían a Jesús Simón Pedro y otro discípulo. Y este discípulo era conocido del sumo sacerdote, y entró con Jesús al patio del sumo sacerdote;

16 B ut Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought Peter in.

mas Pedro estaba fuera, junto a la puerta. Salió, pues, el discípulo que era conocido del sumo sacerdote, y habló a la portera, e hizo entrar a Pedro.

17 T hen the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, “You are not also one of this Man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.”

Entonces la criada portera dijo a Pedro: ¿No eres tú también de los discípulos de este hombre? Dijo él: No lo soy.

18 N ow the servants and officers who had made a fire of coals stood there, for it was cold, and they warmed themselves. And Peter stood with them and warmed himself. Jesus Questioned by the High Priest

Y estaban en pie los siervos y los alguaciles que habían encendido unas brasas de carbón; porque hacía frío, y se calentaban; y también con ellos estaba Pedro en pie, calentándose. Anás interroga a Jesús

19 T he high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.

Y el sumo sacerdote preguntó a Jesús acerca de sus discípulos y de su doctrina.

20 J esus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.

Jesús le respondió: Yo he hablado públicamente al mundo; siempre he enseñado en la sinagoga y en el templo, donde se reúnen todos los judíos, y nada he hablado en oculto.

21 W hy do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said.”

¿Por qué me preguntas a mí? Pregunta a los que han oído, qué les he hablado; he aquí, ellos saben lo que yo he dicho.

22 A nd when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Do You answer the high priest like that?”

Apenas dijo esto, uno de los alguaciles, que estaba allí, le dio a Jesús una bofetada, diciendo: ¿Así respondes al sumo sacerdote?

23 J esus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?”

Jesús le respondió: Si he hablado mal, testifica en qué está el mal; y si bien, ¿por qué me golpeas?

24 T hen Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest. Peter Denies Twice More

Anás entonces le envió atado a Caifás, el sumo sacerdote. Pedro niega a Jesucristo

25 N ow Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they said to him, “You are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not!”

Estaba, pues, Pedro en pie, calentándose. Y le dijeron: ¿No eres tú de sus discípulos? Él negó, y dijo: No lo soy.

26 O ne of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?”

Uno de los siervos del sumo sacerdote, pariente de aquel a quien Pedro había cortado la oreja, le dijo: ¿No te vi yo en el huerto con él?

27 P eter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed. In Pilate’s Court

Negó Pedro otra vez; y en seguida cantó el gallo. Jesús ante Pilato

28 T hen they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.

Llevaron a Jesús de casa de Caifás al pretorio. Era de madrugada, y ellos no entraron en el pretorio para no contaminarse, y así poder comer la pascua.

29 P ilate then went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this Man?”

Entonces salió Pilato a ellos, y les dijo: ¿Qué acusación traéis contra este hombre?

30 T hey answered and said to him, “If He were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you.”

Respondieron y le dijeron: Si éste no fuera malhechor, no te lo habríamos entregado.

31 T hen Pilate said to them, “You take Him and judge Him according to your law.” Therefore the Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,”

Entonces les dijo Pilato: Tomadle vosotros, y juzgadle según vuestra ley. Y los judíos le dijeron: A nosotros no nos está permitido dar muerte a nadie;

32 t hat the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying by what death He would die.

para que se cumpliese la palabra que Jesús había dicho, dando a entender de qué muerte iba a morir.

33 T hen Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”

Entonces Pilato volvió a entrar en el pretorio, y llamó a Jesús y le dijo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los judíos?

34 J esus answered him, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?”

Jesús le respondió: ¿Dices tú esto por ti mismo, o te lo han dicho otros de mí?

35 P ilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?”

Pilato le respondió: ¿Soy yo acaso judío? Tu nación, y los principales sacerdotes, te han entregado a mí. ¿Qué has hecho?

36 J esus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”

Respondió Jesús: Mi reino no es de este mundo; si mi reino fuera de este mundo, mis servidores pelearían para que yo no fuera entregado a los judíos; pero mi reino no es de aquí.

37 P ilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

Le dijo entonces Pilato: ¿Luego, eres tú rey? Respondió Jesús: Tú lo dices; yo soy rey. Yo para esto he nacido, y para esto he venido al mundo, para dar testimonio a la verdad. Todo aquel que es de la verdad, oye mi voz.

38 P ilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all. Taking the Place of Barabbas

Le dijo Pilato: ¿Qué es verdad? Y, dicho esto, salió otra vez a los judíos, y les dijo: Yo no hallo en él ningún delito.

39 “ But you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Do you therefore want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

Pero vosotros tenéis la costumbre de que os suelte a uno en la pascua. ¿Queréis, pues, que os suelte al Rey de los judíos?

40 T hen they all cried again, saying, “Not this Man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.

Entonces todos gritaron de nuevo, diciendo: No a éste, sino a Barrabás. Y Barrabás era ladrón.
