1 E ntão Jó respondeu:

But Job answered and said,

2 C omo tens ajudado ao que não tem força e sustentado o braço que não tem vigor!

How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?

3 c omo tens aconselhado ao que não tem sabedoria, e plenamente tens revelado o verdadeiro conhecimento!

How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?

4 P ara quem proferiste palavras? E de quem é o espírito que saiu de ti?

To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

5 O s mortos tremem debaixo das águas, com os que ali habitam.

Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

6 O Seol está nu perante Deus, e não há coberta para o Abadom.

Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

7 E le estende o norte sobre o vazio; suspende a terra sobre o nada.

He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

8 P rende as águas em suas densas nuvens, e a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.

He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

9 E ncobre a face do seu trono, e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.

He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.

10 M arcou um limite circular sobre a superfície das águas, onde a luz e as trevas se confinam.

He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

11 A s colunas do céu tremem, e se espantam da sua ameaça.

The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

12 C om o seu poder fez sossegar o mar, e com o seu entendimento abateu a Raabe.

He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.

13 P elo seu sopro ornou o céu; a sua mão traspassou a serpente veloz.

By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

14 E is que essas coisas são apenas as orlas dos seus caminhos; e quão pequeno é o sussurro que dele, ouvimos! Mas o trovão do seu poder, quem o poderá entender?

Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
