1 P alabra de Jehová que vino a Jeremías en días de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, diciendo:

The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

2 V e a casa de los recabitas y habla con ellos, e introdúcelos en la casa de Jehová, en uno de los aposentos, y dales a beber vino.

“Go to the house of the Rechabites and speak to them, and bring them into the house of the Lord, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.”

3 T omé entonces a Jaazanías hijo de Jeremías, hijo de Habasinías, a sus hermanos, a todos sus hijos, y a toda la familia de los recabitas;

Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, and his brothers and all his sons and the whole house of the Rechabites,

4 y los llevé a la casa de Jehová, al aposento de los hijos de Hanán hijo de Igdalías, varón de Dios, el cual estaba junto al aposento de los príncipes, que estaba sobre el aposento de Maasías hijo de Salum, guarda de la puerta.

and I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was near the chamber of the officials, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the doorkeeper.

5 Y puse delante de los hijos de la familia de los recabitas tazas y copas llenas de vino, y les dije: Bebed vino.

Then I set before the men of the house of the Rechabites pitchers full of wine and cups; and I said to them, “ Drink wine!”

6 M as ellos dijeron: No beberemos vino; porque Jonadab hijo de Recab nuestro padre nos ordenó diciendo: No beberéis jamás vino vosotros ni vuestros hijos;

But they said, “We will not drink wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, ‘You shall not drink wine, you or your sons, forever.

7 n i edificaréis casa, ni sembraréis sementera, ni plantaréis viña, ni la retendréis; sino que moraréis en tiendas todos vuestros días, para que viváis muchos días sobre la faz de la tierra donde vosotros habitáis.

You shall not build a house, and you shall not sow seed and you shall not plant a vineyard or own one; but in tents you shall dwell all your days, that you may live many days in the land where you sojourn.’

8 Y nosotros hemos obedecido a la voz de nuestro padre Jonadab hijo de Recab en todas las cosas que nos mandó, de no beber vino en todos nuestros días, ni nosotros, ni nuestras mujeres, ni nuestros hijos ni nuestras hijas;

We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he commanded us, not to drink wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons or our daughters,

9 y de no edificar casas para nuestra morada, y de no tener viña, ni heredad, ni sementera.

nor to build ourselves houses to dwell in; and we do not have vineyard or field or seed.

10 M oramos, pues, en tiendas, y hemos obedecido y hecho conforme a todas las cosas que nos mandó Jonadab nuestro padre.

We have only dwelt in tents, and have obeyed and have done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

11 S ucedió, no obstante, que cuando Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia subió a la tierra, dijimos: Venid, y ocultémonos en Jerusalén, de la presencia del ejército de los caldeos y de la presencia del ejército de los de Siria; y en Jerusalén nos quedamos.

But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against the land, we said, ‘Come and let us go to Jerusalem before the army of the Chaldeans and before the army of the Arameans.’ So we have dwelt in Jerusalem.” Judah Rebuked

12 Y vino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

13 A sí ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Ve y di a los varones de Judá, y a los moradores de Jerusalén: ¿No aprenderéis a obedecer mis palabras? dice Jehová.

“Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Go and say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “ Will you not receive instruction by listening to My words?” declares the Lord.

14 F ue firme la palabra de Jonadab hijo de Recab, el cual mandó a sus hijos que no bebiesen vino, y no lo han bebido hasta hoy, por obedecer al mandamiento de su padre; y yo os he hablado a vosotros desde temprano y sin cesar, y no me habéis oído.

“The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, which he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are observed. So they do not drink wine to this day, for they have obeyed their father’s command. But I have spoken to you again and again; yet you have not listened to Me.

15 Y envié a vosotros todos mis siervos los profetas, desde temprano y sin cesar, para deciros: Volveos ahora cada uno de vuestro mal camino, y enmendad vuestras obras, y no vayáis tras dioses ajenos para servirles, y viviréis en la tierra que di a vosotros y a vuestros padres; mas no inclinasteis vuestro oído, ni me oísteis.

Also I have sent to you all My servants the prophets, sending them again and again, saying: ‘ Turn now every man from his evil way and amend your deeds, and do not go after other gods to worship them. Then you will dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your forefathers; but you have not inclined your ear or listened to Me.

16 C iertamente los hijos de Jonadab hijo de Recab tuvieron por firme el mandamiento que les dio su padre; pero este pueblo no me ha obedecido.

Indeed, the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have observed the command of their father which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to Me.’”’

17 P or tanto, así ha dicho Jehová Dios de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: He aquí traeré yo sobre Judá y sobre todos los moradores de Jerusalén todo el mal que contra ellos he hablado; porque les hablé, y no oyeron; los llamé, y no han respondido.

Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I am bringing on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the disaster that I have pronounced against them; because I spoke to them but they did not listen, and I have called them but they did not answer.’”

18 Y dijo Jeremías a la familia de los recabitas: Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Por cuanto obedecisteis al mandamiento de Jonadab vuestro padre, y guardasteis todos sus mandamientos, e hicisteis conforme a todas las cosas que os mandó;

Then Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Because you have obeyed the command of Jonadab your father, kept all his commands and done according to all that he commanded you;

19 p or tanto, así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: No faltará de Jonadab hijo de Recab un varón que esté en mi presencia todos los días.

therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, “Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not lack a man to stand before Me always.”’”
