1 T he sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.

أبْناءُ يَهُوذا هُمْ فارَصُ وَحَصْرُونُ وَكَرْمِي وَحُورُ وشُوبالُ.

2 R eaiah the son of Shobal became the father of Jahath; and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.

وَأنجَبَ رَآيا بْنُ شُوبالَ يَحَثَ، وَأنجَبَ يَحَثُ أخُومايَ وَلاهَدَ. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ عَشائِرَ الصَّرْعِيِّينَ.

3 T hese were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. The name of their sister was Hazzelelponi.

وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ آباءُ عِيطَمَ: يَزْرَعِيلُ وَيَشْما وَيَدْباشُ، وَكانَتْ لَهُمْ أُختٌ اسْمُها هَصَّلَلْفُونِي.

4 P enuel was the father of Gedor and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.

وكانَ فَنُوئِيلُ أبا جَدُورَ، وَعازَرُ أبا حُوشَةَ. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ أبْناءَ حُورَ، بِكْرِ أفْراتَةَ، وَمُؤسِّسِ مَدينَةِ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ.

5 A shhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

وَكانَ لِأشْحُورَ، مُؤسِّسِ مَدينَةِ تَقُوعَ، زَوْجَتانِ هُما حَلاةُ وَنَعْرَةُ.

6 N aarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.

وَأنجَبَتْ لَهُ نَعْرَةُ أخُزّامَ وَحافَرَ وَتِمْنايَ وَأخَشْتارِي. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ أبْناءَ نَعْرَةَ.

7 T he sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.

أمّا أبْناءُ حَلاةَ فهُمْ صَرَثُ وَصُوحَرُ وَأثْنانُ وَقُوصُ.

8 H akkoz became the father of Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.

وَأنجَبَ قُوصُ عانُوبَ وَهَصُوبِيبَةَ، وَعَشائِرَ أخَرْحِيلَ بْنِ هارُمَ.

9 J abez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.”

وَكانَ يَعْبِيصُ ذا كَرامَةٍ أكْثَرَ مِنْ جَميعِ إخْوَتِهِ. وَقَدْ سَمَّتْهُ أُمُّهُ «يَعْبِيصَ» إذْ قالَتْ: «لِأنِّي تَألَّمْتُ وَأنا ألِدُهُ.»

10 J abez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border! May your hand be with me, and may you keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” God granted him that which he requested.

وَصَلَّى يَعْبِيصُ إلَى إلَهِ إسْرائِيلَ وَقالَ: «لَيتَكَ تُبارِكُنِي، وَتُوَسِّعُ حُدُودِي. وَتَظَلُّ يَدُكَ مَعِي، تُبعِدُنِي عَنِ الشَّرَّ، حَتَّى لا يُؤذينِي.» فَأعطاهُ اللهُ ما طَلَبَهُ.

11 C helub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.

وَأنجَبَ كَلُوبُ، أخُو شُوحَةَ، مَحِيرَ أبا أشْتُونَ.

12 E shton became the father of Beth Rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah.

وَأنجَبَ أشْتُونُ بَيْتَ رافا وَفاسِحَ وَتَحِنَّةَ مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ ناحاشَ. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ أهلَ رَيْكَةَ.

13 T he sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath.

وَابْنا قَنازَ هُما عُثْنِيئِيلُ وَسَرايا. وَابْنا عُثْنِيئِيلَ هُما حَثاثُ وَمَعُونُوثايُ.

14 M eonothai became the father of Ophrah: and Seraiah became the father of Joab the father of Ge Harashim; for they were craftsmen.

وَأنجَبَ مَعُونُوثايُ عَفْرَةَ. وَأنجَبَ سَرايا يُوآبَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ جِي حَراشِيمَ. سُمِّيَتْ كَذَلِكَ لِأنَّ أهلَها حِرَفِيُّونَ ماهِرُونَ.

15 T he sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.

أبْناءُ كالَبَ بْنِ يَفُنَّةَ هُمْ عِيرُو وَأيلَةُ وَناعِمُ. وَأنْجَبَ أيلةُ قَنازَ.

16 T he sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

أبْناءُ يَهلَلْئِيلَ هُمْ زِيفُ وَزِيفَةُ وَتِيرِيّا وَأسَرْئِيلُ.

17 T he sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon; and she bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

أبْناءُ عَزْرَةَ هُمْ يَثَرُ وَمَرَدُ وَعافِرُ وَيالُونُ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أبْناءُ بِثْيَةَ المِصْرِيَّةِ الَّتِي تَزَوَّجَها مَرَدُ. وَحَبِلَتْ بِثْيَةُ وَأنجَبَتْ لِمَرَدَ مَرْيَمَ وَشَمّايَ وَيِشْبَحَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ أشْتَمُوعَ.

18 H is wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. These are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.

وَأنجَبَتِ امرَأتُهُ الَّتِي مِنْ يَهُوذا يارِدَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ جَدُورَ، وَحابِرَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ سُوكُو، وَيَقُوثِيئِيلَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ زانُوحَ.

19 T he sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.

وَابْنا مَرَدَ مِنْ زَوجَتِهِ الَّتِي مِنْ يَهُوذا، أُختِ نَحَمَ، هُما أبُو قَعِيلَةَ الجَرْمِيُّ وَأشْتَمُوعُ المَعْكِيُّ.

20 T he sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben Hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben Zoheth.

وَأبْناءُ شِيمُونَ هُمْ أمنُونُ وَرِنَّةُ بْنُ حانانَ وَتَيلُونُ. وَابْنا يَشْعِي هُما زُوحَيْتُ وَبَنْزُوحَيْتُ.

21 T he sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those who worked fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;

أبْناءُ شِيلَةَ ابْنِ يَهُوذا: عِيرُ مُؤسِّسُ مَدينَةِ لَيكَةَ، وَلَعْدَةُ مُؤسِّسُ مَدينَةِ مَرِيشَةَ، وَعَشائِرُ عُمّالِ الكِتّانِ فِي بَيتِ أشْبِيعَ،

22 a nd Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. These records are ancient.

وَيُوقِيمُ، وَأهلُ كَزِيبا وَيُوآشُ وَسارافُ الَّذِينَ كانُوا حُكّامَ مُوآبَ وَعادُوا إلَى بَيْتَ لَحمَ. وَهَذِهِ السِّجِلّاتُ مَعْرُوفَةٌ مُنْذُ القَدِيمِ.

23 T hese were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah: they lived there with the king for his work.

كانَ هؤلاءِ الخَزّافِينَ سُكّانَ نَتاعِيمَ وَجَدِيرَةَ. سَكَنُوا هُناكَ مَعَ المَلِكِ لِيَشْتَغِلُوا عِنْدَهُ. نَسلُ شِمْعُون

24 T he sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;

أبْناءُ شِمْعُونَ: نَمُوئِيلُ وَيامِينُ وَيَرِيبُ، وَزارَحُ، وَشاوُلُ.

25 S hallum his son, Mibsam his son, and Mishma his son.

وَكانَ شَلُّومُ ابْنَ شاوُلَ، وَابْنُهُ مِبْسامُ، وَابْنُهُ مِشْماعُ.

26 T he sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.

أبْناءُ مِشْماعَ: ابْنُهُ حَمُوئِيلُ، وَابْنُهُ زَكُّورُ، وَابْنُهُ شَمْعَى.

27 S himei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers didn’t have many children, and all their family did not family multiply like the children of Judah.

وَكانَ لِشَمْعَى سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ ابْناً وَسِتَّ بَناتٍ، وَلَكِنَّ إخْوَتَه لَمْ يُنجِبوا أبْناءً كَثِيرِينَ. فَلَمْ يَكثُرُوا بِعَدَدِ أهلِ يَهُوذا.

28 T hey lived at Beersheba, Moladah, Hazarshual,

وَسَكَنُوا فِي بِئْرِ السَّبْعِ وَمُولادَةَ وَحَصْرِ شُوعالَ

29 a t Bilhah, at Ezem, at Tolad,

وَبِلْهَةَ وَعاصِمَ وَتُولادَ

30 a t Bethuel, at Hormah, at Ziklag,

وَبَتُوئِيلَ وَحُرْمَةَ وَصِقلَغَ

31 a t Beth Marcaboth, Hazar Susim, at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities until David’s reign.

وَبَيتَ مَرْكَبُوتَ وَحَصْرَ سُوسِيمَ وَبَيتَ بِرْئِي وَشَعَرايِمَ. كانَتْ هَذِهِ مَدَنَهَمْ إلَى أنْ صارَ داوُدُ مَلِكاً.

32 T heir villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;

وَكانَتْ قُراهُمْ عِيطَمَ وَعَينَ وَرِمُّونَ وَتُوكَنَ وَعاشانَ. وَمَجمُوعُها خَمْسُ مُدُنٍ.

33 a nd all their villages that were around the same cities, to Baal. These were their settlements, and they have their genealogy.

فَضلاً عَنْ كُلِّ قُراهُمُ المُحِيطَةِ بِهَذِهِ المُدُنِ إلَى بَعلٍ. كانَتْ هَذِهِ أماكِنَ إقامَتِهِمْ، وَقَدِ احتَفَظُوا بِسِجِلِّ أنْسابٍ.

34 M eshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah,

مَشُوبابُ وَيَملِيكُ وَيُوشا بْنُ أمَصْيا.

35 J oel, Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,

وَيُوئِيلُ وَياهُو بْنُ يُوشِيّا بْنِ سَرايا بْنِ عَسِيئِيلَ

36 E lioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,

وَألِيُوعِينايُ وَيَعقُوبا وَيَشُوحايا وَعَسايا وَعَدِيئِيلُ وَيَسِيمِيئِيلُ وَبَنايا

37 a nd Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah—

وَزِيزا بْنُ شِفْعِي بْنِ ألُّونَ بْنِ يَدايا بْنِ شِمْرِي بْنِ شَمَعْيا.

38 t hese mentioned by name were princes in their families. Their fathers’ houses increased greatly.

وَكانَ هَؤُلاءِ المُدرَجُونَ حَسَبَ أسْمائِهِمْ قادَةً فِي عَشائِرِهِمْ. وَقَدْ نَمَتْ عائِلاتُهُمْ فَصارَتْ كَبِيرَةً جِدّاً.

39 T hey went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

فَذَهَبُوا إلَى المِنْطَقَةِ المُجاوِرَةِ لِمَدِينَةِ جَدُورَ إلَى الشَّرْقِ مِنَ الوادِي سَعْياً إلَى مَراعٍ لِمَواشِيهِمْ.

40 T hey found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceful; for those who lived there before were descended from Ham.

فَوَجَدُوا مَرعَى خَصْباً، وَكانَتِ الأرْضُ فَسِيحَةً وَهادِئَةً وَمُسالِمَةً، لِأنَّ الَّذِينَ سَكَنُوا هُناكَ مِنْ قَبلُ كانُوا مِنْ نَسلِ حامِ.

41 T hese written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents. The Meunim who were found there, and they destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place; because there was pasture there for their flocks.

أمّا الَّذِينَ ذُكِرَتْ أسْماؤهُمْ فَجاءُوا فِي عَهْدِ حَزَقِيّا مَلِكِ يَهُوذا. وَدَمَّرُوا خِيامَ الحامِيِّينَ وَالمَعُونِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ هُناكَ، وَأبادُوهُمْ كَما هُوَ وَاضِحٌ إلَى يَوْمِنا هَذا. وَاسْتَقَرُّوا فِي مَكانِهِمْ، لِأنَّهُ كانَتْ هُناكَ مَراعٍ لِمَواشِيهِمْ.

42 S ome of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

وَذَهَبَ بَعْضُ الشِّمْعُونِيِّينَ إلَى مِنْطَقَةِ سَعِيرَ الجَبَلِيَّةِ، وَكانَ عَدَدُهُمْ خَمْسَ مِئَةِ رَجُلٍ تَحتَ قِيادَةِ فَلَطْيا وَنَعَرْيا وَرَفايا وَعُزِّيئِيلَ، أبْناءِ شَمْعَى.

43 T hey struck the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and have lived there to this day.

فَقَضَى هَؤُلاءِ عَلَى بَقِيَّةِ بَنِي عَمالِيقَ الَّذِينَ نَجَوْا. وَسَكَنَ الشِّمْعُونِيُّونَ هُناكَ إلَى يَوْمِنا هَذا.
