1 “ I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.

وَقالَ يَسُوعُ: «أنا الكَرمَةُ الحَقِيْقِيَّةُ وَأبِي الكَرّامُ.

2 E very branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

وَهُوَ يَقطَعُ كُلَّ غُصْنٍ فِيَّ لا يُنتِجُ ثَمَراً، وَيُنَقِّي كُلَّ غُصْنٍ مُثْمِرٍ لِكَيْ يُنتِجَ ثَمَراً أكثَرَ.

3 Y ou are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

أنتُمِ الآنَ أنقِياءُ بِسَبَبِ التَّعلِيْمِ الَّذِي أعطَيْتُهُ لَكُمْ.

4 R emain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.

اثبُتُوا فِيَّ وَأنا سَأثْبُتُ فِيْكُمْ. لا يَسْتَطِيْعُ الغُصْنُ أنْ يُنتِجَ ثَمَراً وَحدَهُ، إلّا إذا ثَبَتَ فِي ساقِ الكَرمَةِ. كَذَلِكَ أنتُمْ لا تَسْتَطِيْعُونَ أنْ تُنتِجُوا ثَمَراً إلّا إذا ثَبَتُّمْ فِيَّ.

5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

«أنا الكَرمَةُ، وَأنتُمُ الأغصانُ. فَمَنْ يَثبُتُ فِيَّ وَأثبُتُ أنا فِيْهِ، يُنتِجُ ثَمَراً كَثِيْراً. فَأنتُمْ لا تَستَطِيْعُونَ أنْ تَفعَلُوا شَيْئاً بِدُونِي.

6 I f a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

وَمَنْ لا يَثبُتُ فِيَّ، فَإنَّهُ يُرمَى كَالغُصْنِ وَيَيْبَسُ. ثُمَّ تُجمَعُ الأغصانُ اليابِسَةُ وَتُلقَى فِي النّارِ وَتَحتَرِقُ.

7 I f you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.

«اثْبُتُوا فِيَّ، وَلْيَثْبُتْ كَلامِي فِيْكُمْ. فَعِندَ ذَلِكَ، اطلُبُوا ما تُرِيْدُونَ وَسَتَنالُونَهُ.

8 “ In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.

أنتِجُوا ثَمَراً كَثِيْراً مُبَرهِنِيْنَ أنَّكُمْ تَلامِيْذِي. فَبِهَذا يَتَمَجَّدُ أبِي.

9 E ven as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love.

كَما أحَبَّنِي الآبُ أحبَبْتُكُمْ أنا أيضاً، فَاثْبُتُوا فِي محَبَّتِي.

10 I f you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.

إنْ أطَعْتُمْ وَصايايَ سَتَثْبُتُونَ فِي مَحَبَّتِي. فَأنا أيضاً أُطِيْعُ وَصايا الآبِ وَأثبُتُ فِي مَحَبَّتِهِ.

11 I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.

أقُولُ لَكُمْ هَذِهِ الأُمُورَ لِكَيْ يَثبُتَ فَرَحِي فِيْكُمْ، وَلِكَيْ يَكُونَ فَرَحُكُمْ تامّاً.

12 “ This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.

«وَهَذِهِ هِيَ وَصِيَّتِي لَكُمْ: أحِبُّوا بَعضَكُمْ بَعضاً كَما أحبَبْتُكُمْ أنا.

13 G reater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

أعظَمُ مَحَبَّةٍ هِيَ مَحَبَّةُ مَنْ يَضَحِّي بِنَفسِهِ مِنْ أجلِ أحِبّائِهِ.

14 Y ou are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.

وَأنتُمْ أحِبّائِي إنْ أطَعْتُمْ ما أُوصِيْكُمْ بِهِ.

15 N o longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.

لا أُسَمِّيْكُمْ عَبِيْداً الآنَ، فَالعَبْدُ لا يَعرِفُ ما الَّذِي يَفعَلُهُ سَيِّدُهُ. بَلْ أُسَمِّيْكُمْ أحِبّاءً، لِأنَّنِي قَدْ أخبَرْتُكُمْ بِكُلِّ ما سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ أبِي.

16 Y ou didn’t choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

«لَسْتُمْ أنتُمُ الَّذِيْنَ اختَرتُمُونِي، بَلْ أنا اختَرْتُكُمْ وَعَيَّنْتُكُمْ لِكَيْ تَذْهَبُوا وَتُنتِجُوا ثَمَراً، وَيَدُومَ ثَمَرُكُمْ. حِيْنَئِذٍ يُعطِيْكُمُ الآبُ أيَّ شَيْءٍ تَطلُبُونَهُ باسْمِي.

17 “ I command these things to you, that you may love one another.

هَذا هُوَ ما أُوصِيْكُمْ بِهِ: أنْ تُحِبُّوا بَعضَكُمْ بَعضاً.» يَسُوعُ يُنَبِّهُ تَلامِيْذَه

18 I f the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.

وَقالَ يَسُوعُ: «إنْ أبْغَضَكُمِ العالَمُ، فَتَذَكَّرُوا أنَّهُ أبْغَضَني قَبلَكُمْ.

19 I f you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَنتَمُونَ إلَى العالَمِ، لَكانَ العالَمُ يُحِبُّكُمْ كَما يُحِبُّ أهلَهُ. أمّا أنتُمْ فَلا تَنتَمُونَ إلَى العالَمِ، فَأنا اختَرتُكُمْ مِنَ العالَمِ، لِهَذا يُبْغِضُكُمِ العالَمُ.

20 R emember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

«تَذَكَّرُوا ما قُلْتُهُ لَكُمْ: ‹ما مِنْ عَبدٍ أعظَمُ مِنْ سَيِّدِهِ.› إنْ أساءَ النّاسُ إلَيَّ، فَسَيُسِيْئُونَ إلَيْكُمْ أيضاً. وَإنْ أطاعُوا تَعلِيْمِي فَسَيُطِيْعُونَ تَعلِيْمَكُمْ أيضاً.

21 B ut all these things will they do to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me.

سَيَفعَلُونَ ذَلِكَ كُلَّهُ بِسَبَبِ اسْمِي، لِأنَّهُمْ لا يَعرِفُونَ ذاكَ الَّذِي أرسَلَنِي.

22 I f I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

وَلَوْ لَمْ آتِ وَأُكَلِّمْهُمْ، لَما كانُوا مُذْنِبِيْنَ. أمّا الآنَ فَلا عُذْرَ لَهُمْ عَلَى خَطِيَّتِهِمْ.

23 H e who hates me, hates my Father also.

«مَنْ يُبْغِضُني فَهُوَ يُبْغِضُ أبِي أيضاً.

24 I f I hadn’t done among them the works which no one else did, they wouldn’t have had sin. But now have they seen and also hated both me and my Father.

وَلَوْ لَمْ أعمَلْ بَيْنَهُمْ أعمالاً لَمْ يَعمَلْها أحَدٌ قَبلِي، لَما كانَ عَلَيْهِمْ ذَنبٌ.

25 B ut this happened so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’

لَكِنْ هَذا حَدَثَ لِكَي يَتَحَقَّقَ ما كُتِبَ فِي شَرِيْعَتِهِمْ: ‹أبغَضُونِي بِلا سَبَبٍ.›»

26 “ When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.

وَعِندَما يَأْتِي المُعِيْنُ الَّذِي سَأُرسِلُهُ مِنْ عِندِ الآبِ، رُوحُ الحَقِّ الَّذِي يَخرُجُ مِنَ الآبِ، فَهُوَ سَيَشْهَدُ لِي.

27 Y ou will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

وَأنتُمْ أيضاً سَتَشْهَدُونَ لِي، لِأنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ مَعِي مُنذُ البِدايَةِ.
