1 N ow this is the history of the generations of Esau (that is, Edom).

هَذا سِجِلُّ نَسلِ عِيسُو الَّذِي هُوَ أدُومُ.

2 E sau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon, the Hittite; and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon, the Hivite;

تَزَوَّجَ عِيسُو أوَّلَ امْرَأتَينِ وَكانَتا كَنْعانِيَّتَينِ. وَهُما عَدَا بِنتُ إيلُونَ الحِثِّيِّ، وَأُهُولِيبامَةُ بِنتُ عَنَى بِنتِ صِبْعُونَ الحِوِّيِّ.

3 a nd Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebaioth.

ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ بَسْمَةَ بِنتَ إسْماعِيلَ، وَأُختَ نَبايُوتَ.

4 A dah bore to Esau Eliphaz. Basemath bore Reuel.

وَكانَ لِعَدا وَعِيسُو ابْنٌ اسْمُهُ ألِيفازُ. وَأنجَبَتْ بَسْمَةُ رَعُوئِيلَ.

5 O holibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

وَأنجَبَتْ أهُولِيبامَةُ يَعُوشَ وَيَعلامَ وَقُورَحَ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أولادُ عِيسُو الَّذِينَ وُلِدُوا فِي أرْضِ كَنْعانَ.

6 E sau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, with his livestock, all his animals, and all his possessions, which he had gathered in the land of Canaan, and went into a land away from his brother Jacob.

ثُمَّ أخَذَ عِيسُو زَوْجاتِهِ وَبَنِيهِ وَبَناتِهِ وَكُلَّ أهلِ بَيتِهِ وَمَواشِيَهُ وَكُلَّ حَيواناتِهِ وَكُلَّ أملاكِهِ الَّتِي اقْتَناها فِي أرْضِ كَنْعانَ، وَانتَقَلَ إلَى أرْضٍ أُخْرَى بَعِيداً عَنْ يَعقُوبَ.

7 F or their substance was too great for them to dwell together, and the land of their travels couldn’t bear them because of their livestock.

إذْ كانَتْ مُمتَلَكاتُهُما أوْسَعَ مِنْ أنْ يَسْكُنا مَعاً. وَلَمْ تَتَّسِعِ الأرْضُ الَّتِي كانا يَسْكُنانِ فِيها لَهُما مَعاً، لِأنَّ مَواشِيَهُما كانَتْ كَثِيرَةً جِدّاً.

8 E sau lived in the hill country of Seir. Esau is Edom.

فَاسْتَقَرَّ عِيسُو فِي بِلادِ سَعِيرَ. وَعِيسُو هُوَ أدُومُ.

9 T his is the history of the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir:

هَذا سِجِلُّ نَسلِ عِيسُو، أصلِ شَعبِ أدُومَ الَّذِينَ يَعِيشُونَ فِي بِلادِ سَعِيرَ.

10 t hese are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, the son of Adah, the wife of Esau; and Reuel, the son of Basemath, the wife of Esau.

هَذِهِ أسْماءُ أولادِ عِيسُو: ألِيفازُ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ عِيسُو مِنْ زَوْجَتِهِ عَدَا، وَرَعُوئِيلُ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ عِيسُو مِنْ زَوجَتِهِ بَسْمَةَ.

11 T he sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.

وَأولادُ ألِيفازَ هُمْ تَيمانُ وَأوْمارُ وَصَفْو وَجَعْثامُ وَقَنازُ.

12 T imna was concubine to Eliphaz, Esau’s son; and she bore to Eliphaz Amalek. These are the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife.

وَكانَتْ تِمْناعُ، جارِيَةً لِألِيفازَ بْنِ عِيسُو. وَأنجَبَتْ لِألِيفازَ ابْناً اسْمُهُ عَمالِيقُ. هَذِهِ أسْماءُ أولادِ عَدَا زَوجَةِ عِيسُو.

13 T hese are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

وَأولادُ رَعُوئِيلَ هُمْ نَحَثُ وَزارَحُ وَشَمَّةُ وَمِزَّةُ. هَذِهِ أسْماءُ أولادِ بَسْمَةَ زَوجَةِ عِيسُو.

14 T hese were the sons of Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon, Esau’s wife: she bore to Esau Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.

وَأولادُ أهُولِيبامَةَ ابْنَةِ عَنَى بْنِ صِبْعُونَ زَوْجَةِ عِيسُو. فَقَدْ أنجَبَتْ لِعِيسُو يَعُوشَ وَيَعلامَ وَقُورَحَ.

15 T hese are the chiefs of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz,

وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ رُؤَساءُ العَشائِرِ الَّذِينَ انحَدَرُوا مِنْ عِيسُو: أولادُ ألِيفازَ، بِكْرِ عِيسُو، رُؤَساءُ تَيمانَ وَأوْمارَن وَصَفْوا وَقَنازَ

16 c hief Korah, chief Gatam, chief Amalek: these are the chiefs who came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Adah.

وَجَعْثامَ وَعَمالِيقَ. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ رُؤَساءَ العَشائِرِ المُنحَدِرِينَ مِنْ ألِيفازَ فِي أرْضِ أدُومَ. وَهُمْ أولادُ عَدا.

17 T hese are the sons of Reuel, Esau’s son: chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah: these are the chiefs who came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أولادُ رَعُوئِيلَ بْنِ عِيسُو: رُؤَساءُ عَشائِرِ نَحَثٍ وَزارَحَ وَشَمَّةَ وَمِزَّةَ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ رُؤَساءُ العَشائِرِ الَّذِينَ انحَدَرُوا مِنْ رَعُوئِيلَ فِي أرْضِ أدُومَ. هَؤُلاءِ أولادُ بَسْمَةَ زَوجَةِ عِيسُو.

18 T hese are the sons of Oholibamah, Esau’s wife: chief Jeush, chief Jalam, chief Korah: these are the chiefs who came of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau’s wife.

وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أولادُ أُهُولِيبامَةَ زَوْجَةِ عِيسُو: رُؤَساءُ عَشائِرِ يَعُوشَ وَيَعلامَ وَقُورَحَ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ رُؤَساءُ العَشائِرِ الَّذِينَ أنْجَبَتْهُمْ زَوجَةُ عِيسُو أُهُولِيبامَةُ، ابْنَةُ عَنَى.

19 T hese are the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these are their chiefs.

كانَ هَؤُلاءِ مِنْ نَسلِ عِيسُو، أي أدُومَ، وَكانَ هَؤُلاءِ رُؤَساءَ عَشائِرِهِمْ.

20 T hese are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أولادُ سَعِيرَ الحُورِيِّ الَّذِينَ كانُوا يَسْكُنُونَ فِي تِلْكَ الأرْضِ: لُوطانُ وَشُوبالُ وَصِبْعُونُ وَعَنَىً

21 D ishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These are the chiefs who came of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.

وَدِيشُونُ وَإيصَرُ وَدِيشانُ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ رُؤَساءُ العَشائِرِ الحُورِيِّونَ، أبْناءُ سَعِيرَ فِي أرْضِ أدُومَ.

22 T he children of Lotan were Hori and Heman. Lotan’s sister was Timna.

وَكانَ ابْنا لُوطانَ هُما حُورِيَ وَهَيمامَ. وَكانَتْ تِمْناعُ أُختَ لُوطانَ.

23 T hese are the children of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.

وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أبْناءُ شُوبالَ: عَلْوانُ وَمَناحَةُ وَعَيبالُ وَشَفْوٌ وَأُونامُ.

24 T hese are the children of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. This is Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he fed the donkeys of Zibeon his father.

وَابْنا صِبْعُونَ هُما أيَّةُ وَعَنَىً. وَعَنَىً هُوَ الَّذِي وَجَدَ اليَنابِيعَ الحارَّةَ فِي الصَّحْراءِ بينَما كانَ يَرْعَى حَمِيرَ أبِيهِ صِبْعُونَ.

25 T hese are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah.

وَكانَ لِعَنَى ابْنٌ اسْمُهُ دِيشُونَ، وَابْنَةٌ اسْمُها أُهُولِيبامَةُ.

26 T hese are the children of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.

وَأبْناءُ دِيشُونَ هُمْ حَمْدانُ وَأشْبانُ ويِثْرانُ وَكَرانُ.

27 T hese are the children of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.

وَأبْناءُ إيصَرَ هُمْ بِلْهانُ وَزَعْوانُ وَعَقانُ.

28 T hese are the children of Dishan: Uz and Aran.

وَابْنا دِيشانَ هُما عُوصٌ وَأرانُ.

29 T hese are the chiefs who came of the Horites: chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah,

وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ رُؤَساءُ عَشائِرِ الحُورِيِّينَ: رُؤَساءُ لُوطانَ وَشُوبالَ وَصِبْعُونَ وَعَنَى

30 c hief Dishon, chief Ezer, and chief Dishan: these are the chiefs who came of the Horites, according to their chiefs in the land of Seir.

وَدِيشُونَ وَإيصَرَ وَدِيشانَ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ رُؤَساءُ عَشائِرِ الحُورِيِّينَ فِي أرْضِ سَعِيرَ.

31 T hese are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before any king reigned over the children of Israel.

هَذِهِ أسْماءُ المُلُوكِ الَّذِينَ حَكَمُوا فِي أرْضِ أدُومَ قَبلَ أنْ يَملُكَ أحَدٌ عَلَى بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ:

32 B ela, the son of Beor, reigned in Edom. The name of his city was Dinhabah.

بالَعُ بْنُ بَعُورَ صارَ مَلِكاً فِي أدُومَ. وَكانَ اسْمُ مَدِينَتِهِ دِنْهابَةَ.

33 B ela died, and Jobab, the son of Zerah of Bozrah, reigned in his place.

وَماتَ بالَعُ، فَخَلَفَهُ يُوبابُ بْنُ زارَحَ مِنْ بُصْرَةَ مَلِكاً.

34 J obab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.

وَماتَ يُوبابُ، فَخَلَفَهُ حُوشامُ مِنْ أرْضِ التَّيمانِيِّينَ مَلِكاً.

35 H usham died, and Hadad, the son of Bedad, who struck Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his place. The name of his city was Avith.

وَماتَ حُوشامُ، فَخَلَفَهُ هَدادُ بْنُ بَدادَ مَلِكاً. وَهَدادَ هُوَ الَّذِي هَزَمَ مِدْيانَ فِي بِلادِ مُوآبَ. وَكانَ اسْمُ مَدِينَتِهِ عَوِيتَ.

36 H adad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place.

وَماتَ هَدادُ، فَخَلَفَهُ سَملَةُ مِنْ مَسْرِيقَةَ مَلِكاً.

37 S amlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth by the river, reigned in his place.

وَماتَ سَملَةُ، فَخَلَفَهُ شَاوُلُ مِنْ رَحُوبُوتَ الواقِعَةِ عَلَى نَهْرِ الفُراتِ مَلِكاً.

38 S haul died, and Baal Hanan, the son of Achbor reigned in his place.

وَماتَ شَاوُلُ، فَخَلَفَهُ بَعلُ حانانَ بْنُ عَكْبُورَ مَلِكاً.

39 B aal Hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his place. The name of his city was Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

وَماتَ بَعلُ حانانَ، فَخَلَفَهُ هَدادُ مَلِكاً بَدَلاً مِنْهُ. وَكانَ اسْمُ مَدِينَتِهِ فاعُو. وَكانَ اسْمُ زَوجَتِهِ مَهِيطَبْئِيلَ ابْنَةَ مَطْرِدَ ابْنَةِ ماءِ الذَّهَبِ.

40 T hese are the names of the chiefs who came from Esau, according to their families, after their places, and by their names: chief Timna, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth,

وَهَذِهِ أسْماءُ قَبائلِ عِيسُو حَسَبَ عائِلاتِهِمْ وَمَناطِقِهِمْ: تِمْناعَ وَعَلْوَةَ وَيَتِيتَ

41 c hief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon,

وَأُهُولِيبامَةَ وَإيلَةَ وَفِينُونَ

42 c hief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar,

وَقَنازَ وَتِيمانَ وَمِبْصارَ

43 c hief Magdiel, and chief Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession. This is Esau, the father of the Edomites.

وَمَجْدِيئِيلَ وَعِيرامَ. هَذِهِ قَبائلُ أدُومَ حَسَبَ تَوزِيعِهِمْ فِي الأرْضِ الَّتِي امتَلَكُوها. وَعِيسُو هُوَ أصلُ أهلِ أدُومَ.
