1 “ Now, you priests, this commandment is for you.
«وَالآنَ أيُّها الكَهَنَةُ، إلَيكُمْ هَذا الأمْرَ:
2 I f you will not listen, and if you will not lay it to heart, to give glory to my name,” says Yahweh of Armies, “then will I send the curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have cursed them already, because you do not lay it to heart.
إنْ لَمْ تُطِيعُونِي وَلَمْ تَضَعُوا فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ أنْ تُمَجِّدُوا اسمِي، يَقُولُ اللهُ القَدِيرُ، فَإنِّي سَأُرسِلُ عَلَيكُمْ لَعْنَةً. سَأُحَوِّلُ البَرَكاتِ الَّتِي تَقُولُونَها إلَى لَعْناتٍ، بَلْ لَعَنْتُكُمْ لِأنَّكُمْ لَمْ تَضَعُوا هَذا فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ.»
3 B ehold, I will rebuke your offspring, and will spread dung on your faces, even the dung of your feasts; and you will be taken away with it.
«سَأُعاقِبُ نَسلَكُمْ. وَسَأُلقِي فَضَلاتِ ذَبائِحِكُمْ عَلَى وُجُوهِكُمْ، وَسَتُطرَحُونَ بَعِيداً مِنْ حَضْرَتِي.
4 Y ou will know that I have sent this commandment to you, that my covenant may be with Levi,” says Yahweh of Armies.
وَسَتَعرِفُونَ أنِّي أرسَلْتُ لَكُمْ هَذِهِ الوَصيَّةَ إذْ قَطَعْتُ عَهْدِي مَعَ لاوِيَ، يَقُولُ اللهُ القَدِيرُ.
5 “ My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him that he might be reverent toward me; and he was reverent toward me, and stood in awe of my name.
كانَ عَهْدِي مَعَهُ عَهْدَ حَياةٍ وَسَلامٍ، وَقَدْ أعطَيتُهُ حَياةً وَسَلاماً. فَقَدْ أكرَمَنِي وَخافَ اسْمِي العَظِيمَ.
6 T he law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many away from iniquity.
تَمَسَّكَ بِالأمانَةِ لِلشَّرِيعَةِ، وَلَمْ يَتَهاوَنْ مَعَ الشَّرِّ. عاشَ حَياةً مُسالِمَةً وَكامِلَةً وَمُسْتَقِيمَةً أمامِي، وَقَدْ رَدَّ كَثِيرِينَ عَنْ عَمَلِ الشَّرِّ.
7 F or the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Yahweh of Armies.
فَالنّاسُ يَنظُرُونَ إلَى الكاهِنِ حِينَ يُرِيدُونَ المَعرِفَةِ، وَيَذْهَبُونَ إلَيهِ لِيُعَلِّمَهُمْ شَرائِعَ اللهِ ، لِأنَّهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ القَدِيرِ.
8 B ut you have turned aside out of the way. You have caused many to stumble in the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi,” says Yahweh of Armies.
«ولَكِنَّكُمْ حِدْتُمْ عَنْ طَرِيقِ اللهِ ، وَنَفَّرْتُمْ كَثِيرِينَ مِنَ الشَّرِيعَةِ. أفسَدْتُمُ العَهْدَ الَّذِي قَطَعْتُهُ مَعَ لاوِي، يَقُولُ اللهُ القَدِيرُ.
9 “ Therefore I have also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according to the way you have not kept my ways, but have had respect for persons in the law.
أنا جَعَلْتُكُمْ مُحتَقَرِينَ وَمَذلُولِينَ أمامَ جَمِيعِ النّاسِ، لِأنَّكُمْ لَمْ تَحفَظُوا وَصايايَ، بَلْ مَيَّزْتُمْ بَينَ النّاسِ فِي تَطبيقِ شَريعَتِي.» أحكامٌ لِلكَهَنَة
10 D on’t we all have one father? Hasn’t one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, profaning the covenant of our fathers?
ألَيسَ لَنا أبٌ واحِدٌ؟ ألَمْ يَخلِقْنا إلَهٌ واحِدٌ؟ فَلِماذا يَغدِرُ الواحِدُ بِأخِيهِ، فَيُنَجِّسُ عَهدَ آبائِنا.
11 J udah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holiness of Yahweh which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.
ارتَكَبَ شَعبُ يَهُوذا أعمالَ غَدْرٍ وَخِيانَةٍ كَثِيرَةً نَحوَ إسْرائِيلَ وَمَدينَةِ القُدْسِ. فَشَعبُ يَهُوذا نَجَّسَ مَكانَ اللهِ المُقَدَّسِ الَّذِي أحَبَّهُ، وَارتَبَطَ بِآلِهَةٍ غَرِيبَةٍ.
12 Y ahweh will cut off, to the man who does this, him who wakes and him who answers, out of the tents of Jacob, and him who offers an offering to Yahweh of Armies.
لَيتَ اللهَ يُبِيدُ مِنْ قَبائِلِ يَعقُوبَ كُلَّ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ هَذا أيّاً كانَ، حَتَّى لَوْ جاءَ يُقَدِّمُ ذَبيحَةً إلَى اللهِ القَدِيرِ.
13 T his again you do: you cover the altar of Yahweh with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, because he doesn’t regard the offering any more, neither receives it with good will at your hand.
وَأنتُمْ تَعمَلُونَ هَذا ثانِيَةً، إذْ تُغَطُّونَ مَذْبَحَ اللهِ بِالدُّمُوعِ نائِحِينَ وَمُوَلْوِلِينَ، لِأنَّهُ لَمْ يَعُدْ يَقْبَلُها كَتَقدِمَةٍ مُرضِيَةٍ مِنْ أيدِيكُمْ.
14 Y et you say, ‘Why?’ Because Yahweh has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion, and the wife of your covenant.
وَتَقُولُونَ: «ما سَبَبُ هَذا؟» لِأنَّ اللهَ رَأى ما حَدَثَ بَينَكَ وَبَينَ المَرأةِ الَّتِي تَزَوَّجْتَها فِي شَبابِكَ، الَّتِي خُنْتَها مَعَ أنَّها كانَتْ رَفِيقاً أمِيناً لَكَ، وَقَدْ دَخَلْتَ فِي عَهْدٍ مَعَها.
15 D id he not make you one, although he had the residue of the Spirit? Why one? He sought godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
لا أحَدَ يَفعَلُ ذَلِكَ وَلَهُ بَقِيَّةُ عَقلٍ! لِماذا يَحفَظُ العاقِلُ عَهْدَهُ؟ لِأنَّهُ يَطلُبُ نَسلاً صالِحاً مِنَ اللهِ. لِذا يَنْبَغِي أنْ تَكُونَ حَذِراً وَلا تَغدُرَ بِالمَرأةِ الَّتِي تَزَوَّجْتَها فِي شَبابِكَ.
16 F or I hate divorce”, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with violence!” says Yahweh of Armies. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously.
«أنا أُبغِضُ الطَّلاقَ،» يَقُولُ اللهُ ، إلَهُ إسْرائِيلَ. «وَأُبغِضُ الزَّوجَ الَّذِي يَستُرُ نَفسَهُ بِالعُنْفِ تُجاهَ زَوجَتِهِ،» يَقُولُ اللهُ القَدِيرُ. «فَاحذَرُوا وَلا يَغدِرْ أحَدُكُما بِالآخَرِ.» وَقْتٌ خاصٌ لِلدَّينُونَة
17 Y ou have wearied Yahweh with your words. Yet you say, ‘How have we wearied him?’ In that you say, ‘Everyone who does evil is good in Yahweh’s sight, and he delights in them;’ or ‘Where is the God of justice?’
أتعَبْتُمُ اللهَ بِكَلامِكُمْ. وَلَكِنَّكُمْ تَقُولُونَ: «كَيفَ أتعَبْناهُ؟» أتعَبْتُمُوهُ بِقَولِكُمْ: «كُلُّ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ الشَّرَّ هُوَصالِحٌ فِي عَينَيِّ اللهِ ، وَهُوَ راضٍ عَنْهُمْ.» أوْ بِقَولِكُمْ: «هَلْ سَبَقَ أنْ رَأيتَ اللهَ يُعاقِبُ أحَداً؟»
