1 I o amo il Signore perché ha udito la mia voce e le mie suppliche.

I love the Lord, because He has heard My voice and my supplications.

2 P oiché ha teso l’orecchio verso di me, io lo invocherò per tutta la mia vita.

Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.

3 I legami della morte mi avevano circondato, le angosce del soggiorno dei morti mi avevano colto; mi avevano raggiunto la disgrazia e il dolore.

The pains of death surrounded me, And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow.

4 M a io invocai il nome del Signore: « Signore, libera l’anima mia!»

Then I called upon the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”

5 I l Signore è pietoso e giusto, il nostro Dio è misericordioso.

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; Yes, our God is merciful.

6 I l Signore protegge i semplici; io ero ridotto in misero stato ed egli mi ha salvato.

The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.

7 R itorna, anima mia, al tuo riposo, perché il Signore ti ha colmata di grazie.

Return to your rest, O my soul, For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

8 T u hai preservato l’anima mia dalla morte, i miei occhi dalle lacrime, i miei piedi da cadute.

For You have delivered my soul from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from falling.

9 I o camminerò alla presenza del Signore sulla terra dei viventi.

I will walk before the Lord In the land of the living.

10 H o creduto, perciò ho parlato. Io ero molto afflitto.

I believed, therefore I spoke, “I am greatly afflicted.”

11 D icevo nel mio turbamento: «Ogni uomo è bugiardo».

I said in my haste, “All men are liars.”

12 C he potrò ricambiare al Signore per tutti i benefici che mi ha fatti?

What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?

13 I o alzerò il calice della salvezza e invocherò il nome del Signore.

I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the Lord.

14 S cioglierò i miei voti al Signore e lo farò in presenza di tutto il suo popolo.

I will pay my vows to the Lord Now in the presence of all His people.

15 È preziosa agli occhi del Signore la morte dei suoi fedeli.

Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints.

16 S ì, o Signore, io sono il tuo servo, sono tuo servo, figlio della tua serva; tu hai spezzato le mie catene.

O Lord, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds.

17 I o ti offrirò un sacrificio di lode e invocherò il nome del Signore.

I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the Lord.

18 A dempirò le mie promesse al Signore e lo farò in presenza di tutto il suo popolo,

I will pay my vows to the Lord Now in the presence of all His people,

19 n ei cortili della casa del Signore, in mezzo a te, o Gerusalemme. Alleluia.

In the courts of the Lord ’s house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!
