1 T hen the chief fathers of the Levites drew near to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;

حِينَئِذٍ أتَى رُؤَساءُ عائِلاتِ اللّاوِيِّينَ إلَى ألِعازَرَ الكاهِنِ وَيَشُوعَ بْنِ نُونَ وَرُؤَساءِ قَبائِلِ إسْرائِيلَ،

2 a nd they spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, Jehovah commanded through Moses to give us cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for our cattle.

وَقالُوا لَهُمْ فِي شَيلُوهَ فِي أرْضِ كَنْعانَ: «أمَرَ اللهُ عَلَى فَمِ مُوسَى بِأنْ تُعطَى لَنا مُدُنٌ نَسكُنُ فِيها مَعَ مَراعِيها لِأجلِ حَيواناتِنا.»

3 A nd the children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, according to the word of Jehovah, these cities and their suburbs.

وَبِحَسَبِ أمْرِ اللهِ ، أعطَى بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ لِلّاوِيِّينَ المُدُنَ التّالِيَةَ مَعَ مَراعِيها مِنْ أرْضِ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ.

4 A nd the lot came forth for the families of the Kohathites. And the children of Aaron the priest, of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.

وَبِإلقاءِ القُرَعِ، كانَتِ القُرعَةُ الأُولَى لِعَشائِرِ القَهاتِيِّينَ. فَنالَ القَهاتِيُّونَ الَّذِينَ كانُوا مِنْ نَسلِ هارُونَ بِالقُرعَةِ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مِنْ قَبائِلِ يَهُوذا وَشِمعُونَ وَبَنْيامِيْنَ.

5 A nd the children of Kohath that remained had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.

وَأمّا بَقِيَّةُ القَهاتِيِّينَ فَنالُوا بِالقُرعَةِ عَشْرَ مُدُنٍ مِنْ قَبائِلِ أفْرايِمَ وَدانَ وَنِصْفِ قَبِيلَةِ مَنَسَّى.

6 A nd the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

وَنالَ الجَرْشُونِيُّونَ بِالقُرعَةِ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مِنْ قَبائِلِ يَسّاكَرَ وَأشِيرَ وَنَفْتالِي وَنِصْفَ قَبِيلَةِ مَنَسَّى الَّذِي فِي باشانَ.

7 T he children of Merari according to their families had by lot out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

وَنالَ المَرارِيُّونَ بِعَشائِرِهِمِ اثنَتَي عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مِنْ قَبائِلِ رَأُوبَيْنَ وَجادٍ وَزَبُولُونَ.

8 A nd the children of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities and their suburbs, as Jehovah commanded through Moses.

وَأعطَى بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ هَذِهِ المُدُنَ وَمَراعِيها بِالقُرعَةِ لِلّاوِيِّينَ كَما أمَرَ اللهُ عَلَى فَمِ مُوسَى.

9 A nd they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which were mentioned by name,

مِنْ قَبِيلَتَي يَهُوذا وَشِمْعُونَ أعْطَوْا المُدُنَ التّالِيَةَ بِأسمائِها –

10 a nd which the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, of the children of Levi had (for theirs was the first lot);

وَقَدْ كانَتْ لِنَسلِ هارُونَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ إحدَى عائِلاتِ القَهاتِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ كانُوا مِنَ اللّاوِيِّينَ، لأنَّ القُرعَةَ الأُولَى وَقَعَتْ عَلَيْهِمِ –

11 a nd they gave them Kirjath-Arba, the father of Anak, that is, Hebron, in the mountain of Judah, with its suburbs round about it.

أعطُوهُمْ قَرْياتَ أرْبَعَ، التي هي حَبْرُونُ الواقِعَةَ فِي مِنْطَقَةِ يَهُوذا الجَبَلِيَّةِ وَمَراعِيها حَولَها. وَأربَعُ هُوَ أبُو عَناقَ.

12 B ut the fields of the city and the hamlets thereof gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.

وَأمّا حُقُولُ المَدِينَةِ وَقُراها فَقَدْ أُعطِيَتْ لِكالَبَ بْنِ يَفُنَّةَ مِيراثاً لَهُ.

13 A nd they gave to the children of Aaron the priest the city of refuge for the slayer, Hebron and its suburbs; and Libnah and its suburbs,

وَحَدَّدُوا حَبْرُونَ مَدِينَةَ لُجُوءٍ لِلمُتَّهَمِ بِالقَتلِ، وَلِبْنَةَ وَمَراعِيهِما، لِنَسلِ هارُونَ الكاهِنِ.

14 a nd Jattir and its suburbs, and Eshtemoa and its suburbs,

بِالإضافَةِ إلَى يَتِّيرَ وَمَراعِيها، وَأشْتَمُوعَ وَمَراعِيها،

15 a nd Holon and its suburbs, and Debir and its suburbs,

وَحُولُونَ وَمَراعِيها، وَدَبِيرَ وَمَراعِيها،

16 a nd Ain and its suburbs, and Juttah and its suburbs, Beth-shemesh and its suburbs: nine cities out of those two tribes;

وَعَينَ وَمَراعِيها، وَيُطَّةَ وَمَراعِيها، وَبَيتَ شَمسَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجْمُوعُها تِسعُ مُدُنٍ أُعطِيَتْ لَهُمْ مِنْ هاتَينِ القَبِيلَتَينِ.

17 a nd out of the tribe of Benjamin: Gibeon and its suburbs, Geba and its suburbs,

وَمِنْ قَبِيلَةِ بَنْيامِيْنَ أعطَوْهُمْ جِبْعُونَ وَمَراعِيها، وَجِبْعَ وَمَراعِيها،

18 A nathoth and its suburbs, and Almon and its suburbs; four cities.

وَعَناثُوثَ وَمَراعِيها، وَعَلْمُونَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها أربَعُ مُدُنٍ.

19 A ll the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities and their suburbs.

فَكانَ مَجمُوعُ كُلِّ المُدُنِ الَّتِي أُعطِيَتْ لِهارُونَ وَلِلكَهَنَةِ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً مَعَ مَراعِيها.

20 A nd to the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites that remained of the children of Kohath,. And the cities of their lot were out of the tribe of Ephraim,

أمّا المُدُنُ المُعطاةُ بِالقُرْعَةِ لِبَقِيَّةِ عائِلاتِ قَهاتَ اللّاوِيَّةِ، فَمِنْ قَبِيلَةِ أفْرايِمَ

21 a nd they gave them the city of refuge for the slayer, Shechem and its suburbs in mount Ephraim; and Gezer and its suburbs,

أخَذُوا شَكِيمَ – وَهِيَ مَدِينَةُ لُجُوءٍ لِلمُتَّهَمِ بِالقَتلِ – وَمَراعِيها فِي مِنْطَقَةِ أفْرايِمَ الجَبَلِيَّةِ، وَجازَرَ وَمَراعِيها،

22 a nd Kibzaim and its suburbs, and Beth-horon and its suburbs: four cities;

وَقِبْصايِمَ وَمَراعِيها، وَبَيْتَ حُورُونَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها أربَعُ مُدُنٍ.

23 a nd out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh and its suburbs, Gibbethon and its suburbs,

وَمِنْ قَبِيلَةِ دانَ أخَذُوا إلْتَقَى وَمَراعِيها، وَجِبَّثُونَ وَمَراعِيها،

24 A jalon and its suburbs, Gath-Rimmon and its suburbs: four cities;

وَأيَّلُونَ وَمَراعِيها، وَجَتَّ رِمُّونَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها أربَعُ مُدُنٍ.

25 a nd out of half the tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and its suburbs and Gath-Rimmon and its suburbs: two cities.

وَمِنْ نِصفِ قَبِيلَةِ مَنَسَّى أخَذُوا تَعْنَكَ وَمَراعِيها، وَجَتَّ رِمُّونَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها مَدِينَتانِ.

26 A ll the cities were ten and their suburbs, for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.

أُعْطِيَتْ كُلُّ هَذِهِ المُدُنِ العَشْرِ وَمَراعِيها لِبَقِيَّةِ عائِلاتِ القَهاتِيِّينَ.

27 A nd to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of half the tribe of Manasseh, the city of refuge for the slayer, Golan in Bashan and its suburbs; and Beeshterah and its suburbs: two cities;

وَأُعطِيَ الجَرشُونِيُّونَ، وَهُمْ إحدَى قَبائِلِ اللّاوِيِّينَ، المُدُنَ التّالِيَةَ: مِنْ نِصفِ قَبِيلَةِ مَنَسَّى جُولانَ فِي باشانَ، وَهِيَ مَدِينَةُ لُجُوءٍ لِلمُتَّهَمِ بِالقَتلِ، مَعَ مَراعِيها، وَبَعَشْتَرَةَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها مَدِينَتانِ.

28 a nd out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion and its suburbs, Dabrath and its suburbs,

وَمِنْ قَبِيلَةِ يسّاكِرَ أخَذُوا قِشْيُونَ وَمَراعِيها، وَدَبْرَةَ وَمَراعِيها،

29 J armuth and its suburbs, En-gannim and its suburbs: four cities;

وَيَرْمُوتَ وَمَراعِيها، وَعَينَ جَنِّيمَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها أربَعُ مُدُنٍ.

30 a nd out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal and its suburbs, Abdon and its suburbs,

وَمِنْ قَبِيلَةِ أشِيرَ أخَذُوا مِشْآلَ وَمَراعِيها، وَعَبْدُونَ وَمَراعِيها،

31 H elkath and its suburbs, and Rehob and its suburbs: four cities;

وَحَلْقَةَ وَمَراعِيها، وَرَحُوبَ وَمَراعِيها، وَمَجمُوعُها أربَعُ مُدُنٍ.

32 a nd out of the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the slayer, Kedesh in Galilee, and its suburbs; and Hammoth-Dor and its suburbs, and Kartan and its suburbs: three cities.

وَمِنْ قَبِيلَةِ نَفْتالِي أخَذُوا قادَشَ وَمَراعِيها الَّتِي فِي الجَلِيلِ، وَهِيَ مَدِينَةُ لُجُوءٍ لِلمُتَّهَمِ بِالقَتلِ. وَحَمُّوتَ دُورٍ وَمَراعِيها، وَقَرْتانَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها ثَلاثُ مُدُنٍ.

33 A ll the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities and their suburbs.

فَأخَذَتْ عائِلاتُ الجَرْشُونِيِّينَ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةٍ مَعَ مَراعِيها.

34 A nd to the families of the children of Merari, that remained of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and its suburbs, Kartah and its suburbs,

وَأُعطِيَتْ عائِلاتُ المَرارِيِّينَ، وَهُمُ الباقُونَ مِنَ اللّاوِيِّينَ، المُدُنَ التّالِيَةَ: مِنْ قَبِيلَةِ زَبُولُونَ يَقْنَعامَ وَمَراعِيها، وَقَرْتَةَ وَمَراعِيها،

35 D imnah and its suburbs, Nahalal and its suburbs: four cities;

وَدِمْنَةَ وَمَراعِيها، وَنَحلالَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها أربَعُ مُدُنٍ.

36 a nd out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and its suburbs, and Jahzah and its suburbs,

وَمِنْ قَبِيلَةِ رَأُوبَيْنَ أخَذُوا باصَرَ وَمَراعِيها، وَياهَصَ وَمَراعِيها،

37 K edemoth and its suburbs, and Mephaath and its suburbs: four cities;

وَقَدِيمُوتَ وَمَراعِيها، وَمَيْفَعَةَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها أربَعُ مُدُنٍ.

38 a nd out of the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge for the slayer, Ramoth in Gilead and its suburbs; and Mahanaim and its suburbs,

وَمِنْ قَبِيلَةِ جادَ أخَذُوا رامُوثَ الَّتِي فِي جِلعادَ وَمَراعِيها – وَهِيَ مَدِينَةُ لُجُوءٍ يَهرُبُ إلَيها المُتَّهَمُ بِالقَتلِ – وَمَحَنايِمَ وَمَراعِيها،

39 H eshbon and its suburbs, Jaazer and its suburbs: four cities in all.

وَحَشْبُونَ وَمَراعِيها، وَيَعْزِيرَ وَمَراعِيها. وَمَجمُوعُها أربَعُ مُدُنٍ.

40 a ll the cities of the children of Merari according to their families, which remained of the families of the Levites, and their lot was twelve cities.

وَكانَ مَجمُوعُ المُدُنِ الَّتِي أُعطِيَتْ بِالقُرعَةِ لِعائِلاتِ المَرارِيِّينَ، وَهُمُ الباقُونَ مِنْ عائِلاتِ لاوِي، اثنَتَي عَشْرَةَ مَدِينَةً.

41 A ll the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty-eight cities and their suburbs.

وَكانَ مَجمُوعُ مُدُنِ اللّاوِيِّينَ فِي داخِلِ أراضِي بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ ثَماني وَأربَعِينَ مَدِينَةً مَعَ مَراعِيها.

42 E ach one of these cities had its suburbs round about it: thus were all these cities.

وَكانَ لِكُلِّ مَدِينَةٍ مَراعِيها الَّتِي تُحِيطُ بِها.

43 A nd Jehovah gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give unto their fathers; and they took possession of it, and dwelt in it.

وَهَكَذا أعطَى اللهُ لإسْرائِيلَ كُلَّ الأرْضِ الَّتِي وَعَدَ بِإعطائِها لآبائِهِمْ، فامتَلَكُوهُا وَسَكَنُوا فِيها.

44 A nd Jehovah gave them rest round about, according to all that he had sworn unto their fathers; and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them: Jehovah gave all their enemies into their hand.

وَأعطاهُمْ اللهُ راحَةً وَأماناً مِنْ كَلِّ ناحِيَةٍ بِحَسَبِ كُلِّ ما وَعَدَ بِهِ لآبائِهِمْ. وَلَمْ يَستَطِعْ أيُّ واحِدٍ مِنْ أعدائِهِمِ الصُّمُودَ أمامَهُمْ، فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُمُ اللهُ عَلَى كُلِّ أعدائِهِمْ.

45 T here failed nothing of all the good things that Jehovah had spoken to the house of Israel: all came to pass.

وَلَمْ يَسْقُطْ أيُّ وَعدٍ مِنْ وُعُودِ اللهِ الصّالِحَةِ لِبَنِي إسْرائِيلَ، بَلْ تَحَقَّقَتْ جَميعُ وُعُودِهِ.
