1 T ake heed not to do your alms before men to be seen of them, otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.

«احذَرُوا مِنْ تَقْديمِ صَدَقاتِكُمْ أمامَ النّاسِ بِهَدَفِ أنْ يَرَوكُمْ، وَإلّا فَلَنْ يُكافِئَكُمْ أبُوكُمُ الَّذِي فِي السَّماءِ.

2 W hen therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

فَعِندَما تُعطِي المُحتاجَ، لا تُعلِنْ ذَلِكَ وَكَأنَّكَ تَنفُخُ فِي بُوقٍ كَما يَفعَلُ المُراؤُونَ فِي المَجامِعِ وَالشَّوارِعِ طَلَباً لِمَديحِ النّاسِ. أقولُ الحَقَّ لَكُمْ، إنَّهُمْ نالُوا بِذَلِكَ مُكافَأتَهُمْ كامِلَةً.

3 B ut thou, when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand does;

وَلَكِنْ عِندَما تُعطِي المُحتاجَ، لاتَدَعْ يَدَكَ اليُسْرَى تَعلَمُ ما تَعمَلُهُ يَدُكَ اليُمْنَى،

4 s o that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render to thee.

حَتَّى يَكُونَ عَطاؤُكَ فِي السِّرِّ. وَأبُوكَ الَّذِي يَرَى ما يَحدُثُ فِي السِّرِّ، سَيُكافِئُكَ. الصَّلاة

5 A nd when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets so that they should appear to men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

«وَعِندَما تُصَلِّي، لاتَكُنْ كَالمُرائِينَ، لِأنَّهُمْ يُحِبُّونَ أنْ يُصَلُّوا فِي المَجامِعِ وَزَوايا الشَّوارِعِ لِكَي يَراهُمُ النّاسُ. أقولُ الحَقَّ لَكُمْ، إنَّهُمْ نالُوا بِذَلِكَ مُكافَأتَهُمْ كامِلَةً.

6 B ut thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render to thee.

لَكِنْ عِندَما تُصَلِّي، ادخُلْ إلَى غُرفَتِكَ وَأغلِقْ بابَكَ، وَصَلِّ إلَى أبِيكَ فِي السِّرِّ. وَأبُوكَ الَّذِي يَرَى ما يَحدُثُ فِي السِّرِّ، سَيُكافِئُكَ.

7 B ut when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as those who are of the nations: for they think they shall be heard through their much speaking.

«وَعِندَما تُصَلُّونَ، لا تَنطُقُوا بِكَلِماتٍ بِغَيرِ فَهْمٍ كَما يَفعَلُ عابِدُو الأوثانِ، فَهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ أنَّ صَلَواتِهُمْ سَتُستَجابُ بِسَبَبِ كَثْرَةِ كَلامِهِمْ.

8 B e not ye therefore like them, for your Father knows of what things ye have need before ye beg of him.

لِذَلِكَ لا تَكُونُوا مِثلَهُمْ، لِأنَّ أباكُمْ يَعرِفُ ما تَحتاجُونَ إلَيهِ حَتَّى قَبلَ أنْ تَطلُبُوهُ مِنهُ.

9 T hus therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in the heavens, let thy name be sanctified,

لِذَلِكَ صَلُّوا كَما يَلِي: ‹أبانا الَّذِي فِي السَّماءِ، لِيَتَقَدَّسِ اسْمُكَ،

10 l et thy kingdom come, let thy will be done as in heaven so upon the earth;

لِيَأتِ مَلَكُوتُكَ، فَتَكُونَ مَشِيئِتُكَ، هُنا عَلَى الأرْضِ كَما هِيَ فِي السَّماءِ.

11 g ive us to-day our needed bread,

أعطِنا اليَوْمَ خُبزَنا كَفافَ يَومِنا،

12 a nd forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors,

وَاغفِرْ لَنا خَطايانا، كَما غَفَرْنا نَحنُ أيضاً لِلَّذِينَ يُسِيئُونَ إلَينا.

13 a nd lead us not into temptation, but save us from evil.

وَلا تُدْخِلنا فِي تَجرُبَةِ، بَلْ أنقِذْنا مِنَ الشِّرِّيرِ. لأنَّ لَكَ المُلْكَ وَالقُدرَةَ وَالمَجدَ، إلَى أبَدِ الآبِدينَ. آمين›

14 F or if ye forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father also will forgive you,

لِأنَّكُمْ إنْ غَفَرْتُمْ لِلنّاسِ زَلّاتِهِمْ، يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ أبُوكُمُ السَّماوِيُّ أيضاً.

15 b ut if ye do not forgive men their offences, neither will your Father forgive your offences.

لَكِنْ إنْ لَمْ تَغفِرُوا لِلآخَرِينَ زَلّاتِهِمْ، فَلَنْ يَغفِرَ لَكُمْ أبُوكُمْ زَلّاتِكُمْ. الصَّوم

16 A nd when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, downcast in countenance; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear fasting to men: verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

«وَعِندَما تَصُومُونَ، لا تَكُونُوا كَالمُرائِينَ الَّذِينَ يُظهِرُونَ الحُزْنَ عَلى وُجُوهِهِمْ. لِأنَّهُمْ يُغَيِّرُونَ شَكلَ وُجُوهِهِمْ، لِكَي يَرَى النّاسُ بِوُضُوحٍ أنَّهُمْ صائِمُونَ. أقولُ الحَقَّ لَكُمْ، إنَّهُمْ نالُوا مُكافَأتَهُمْ كامِلَةً.

17 B ut thou, fasting, anoint thy head and wash thy face,

لَكِنْ عِندَما تَصُومُ، ضَعْ زَيتاً عَلَى رَأسِكَ، وَاغْسِلْ وَجهَكَ،

18 s o that thou mayest not appear fasting unto men, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who sees in secret shall render to thee.

حَتَّى لا يُلاحِظَ النّاسُ أنَّكَ صائِمٌ. فَأبُوكَ الَّذِي لا تَراهُ يَرَى ذَلِكَ. حِينَئِذٍ أبُوكَ الَّذِي يَرَى ما يَحدُثُ فِي السِّرِّ، سَيُكافِئُكَ. اللهُ أمِ المال

19 L ay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust spoils, and where thieves dig through and steal;

«لا تَخزِنُوا لِأنفُسِكُمْ كُنُوزاً عَلَى الأرْضِ، حَيثُ يُتلِفُها العَفَنُ وَالصَّدَأُ، وَحَيثُ يُمكِنَ لِلُّصُوصِ أنْ يَقتَحِمُوا بُيُوتَكُمْ وَيَسرِقُوها.

20 b ut lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust spoils, and where thieves do not dig through nor steal;

لَكِنِ اخزِنُوا لِأنفُسِكُمْ كُنُوزاً فِي السَّماءِ، حَيثُ لا يُتلِفُها عَفَنٌ أوْ صَّدَأٌ، وَلا يَستَطِيعُ اللُّصُوصُ أنْ يَدخُلُوا وَيَسرِقُوها.

21 f or where thy treasure is, there will be also thy heart.

لِأنَّ قَلبَكَ سَيَكُونُ حَيثُ يَكونُ كَنزُكَ.

22 T he lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body will be light:

«سِراجُ الجَسَدِ هُوَ العَينُ. فَإنْ كانَتْ عَيناكَ صالِحَتَيْنِ، فَإنَّ جَسَدَكَ كُلُّهُ سَيَمتَلِئُ نُوراً.

23 b ut if thine eye be wicked, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great the darkness!

لَكِنْ إنْ كانَتْ عَينُكَ شِرِّيرَةً، فَإنَّ جَسَدَكَ أيضاً سَيَمتَلِئُ بِالظُّلمَةِ. فَإنْ كانَ النُّورُ الَّذِي فِيكَ ظَلاماً فِي حَقِيقَتِهِ، فَكَيفَ سَيَكُونُ الظَّلامُ الَّذي فِيكَ؟

24 N o one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

«لا يُمكِنُ لأحَدٍ أنْ يَخدِمَ سَيِّدَيْنِ. فَإمّا أنْ يَكرَهَ أحَدَهُما وَيُحِبُّ الآخَرَ، وَإمّا أنْ يُخلِصَ لِأحَدِهِما وَيَحتَقِرُ الآخَرَ. لا يُمكِنُكُمْ أنْ تَخدِمُوا اللهَ وَالغِنَى. مَلَكُوتُ اللهِ أوَّلاً

25 F or this cause I say unto you, Do not be careful about your life, what ye should eat and what ye should drink; nor for your body what ye should put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?

«لِهَذا أقُولُ لَكُمْ، لا تَقلَقُوا مِنْ جِهَةِ مَعِيشَتِكُمْ، أيْ بِشَأْنِ ما سَتَأْكُلُونَ وَتَشْرَبُونَ. وَلا تَقلَقُوا مِنْ جِهَةِ جَسَدِكُمْ، أيْ بِشَأْنِ ما سَتَلبَسُونَ. لِأنَّ الحَياةَ أكثَرُ أهَمِّيَّةً مِنَ الطَّعامِ، وَالجَسَدَ أكثَرُ أهَمِيَّةً مِنَ اللِّباسِ.

26 L ook at the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into granaries, and your heavenly Father nourishes them. Are ye not much more excellent than they?

انظُرُوا طُيُورَ السَّماءِ، فَهِيَ لا تَبْذُرُ وَلا تَحصُدُ، وَلا تَجمَعُ القَمحَ فِي مَخازِنَ، وَأبُوكُمُ السَماويُّ يُطعِمُها. ألَستُمْ أثْمَنَ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنَ الطُّيورِ؟

27 B ut which of you by carefulness can add to his growth one cubit?

مَنْ مِنكُمْ يَستَطِيعُ أنْ يُضِيفَ إلَى عُمرِهِ ساعَةً واحِدَةً عِندَما يَقلَقُ؟

28 A nd why are ye careful about clothing? Observe with attention the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin;

«وَلِماذا تَقلَقُونَ بِخُصُوصِ ما سَتَلبَسُونَ؟ انظُرُوا كَيفَ تَنمُو زَّنابِقُ الحُقُولِ. إنَّها لا تَتعَبُ وَلا تَغزِلُ.

29 b ut I say unto you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these.

لَكِنِّي أقُولُ لَكُمْ، إنَّهُ لَمْ يُكسَ أحَدٌ مِثلَ واحِدَةٍ مِنها، وَلا حَتَّى سُلَيْمانُ فِي كُلِّ مَجدِهِ.

30 B ut if God so clothe the herbage of the field, which is to-day, and to-morrow is cast into oven, will he not much rather you, O of little faith?

فَإنْ كانَ اللهُ يُلبِسُ عُشبَ الحُقُولِ الَّذِي تَراهُ هُنا اليَومَ، وَفِي الغَدِ يُلقَى بِهِ فِي الفُرنِ، أفَلا يَهتَمُّ بِكُمْ أكثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ يا قَلِيلِي الإيمانِ؟

31 B e not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on?

«لِذَلِكَ لا تَقلَقُوا وَلا تَسألُوا أنفُسَكُمْ: ‹ماذا سَنَأكُلُ؟› أوْ ‹ماذا سَنَشْرَبُ؟› أوْ ‹ماذا سَنَلبِسُ؟›

32 f or all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.

فَهَذِهِ أُمُورٌ يَسعَى إلَيها أهلُ العالَمِ الآخَرونَ، وَأبُوكُمُ السَماويُّ يَعرِفُ أنَّكُمْ تَحتاجُونَ إلَيها كُلِّها.

33 B ut seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

لَكِنِ اهتَمُّوا أوَّلاً بِمَلَكُوتِ اللهِ وَبِرِّهِ، وَسَتُعطَى لَكُمْ جَمِيعُ هَذِهِ الأُمُورُ أيضاً.

34 B e not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day its own evil.

لا تَقلَقُوا بِشأنِ الغَدِ، فَلِكُلِّ يَومٍ ما يَكفِيهِ مِنَ الهُمُومِ، وَسَيَكُونُ لِلغَدِ هُمُومُهُ.
