1 A nd after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بَدَأ يَسُوعُ يَتَنَقَّلُ فِي إقلِيْمِ الجَلِيلِ. وَلَمْ يَشَأْ أنْ يَتَنَقَّلَ فِي إقلِيْمِ اليَهُودِيَّةِ. فَقَدْ كانَ اليَهُودُ يَسْعَوْنَ إلَى قَتلِهِ.

2 N ow the tabernacles, the feast of the Jews, was near.

وَكانَ عِيدُ السَّقائِفِ اليَهُودِيِّ قَرِيْباً.

3 H is brethren therefore said to him, Remove hence and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou doest;

فَقالَ إخْوَةُ يَسُوعَ لَهُ: «اتْرُكْ هَذا المَكانَ، وَاذْهَبْ إلَى اليَهُودِيَّةِ لِكَيْ يَتَمَكَّنَ أتباعُكَ مِنْ أنْ يَرَوا الأعمالَ الَّتِي تَعْمَلُها.

4 f or no one does anything in secret and himself seeks to be in public. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world:

إنْ كانَ أحَدٌ يَسْعَى إلَى الشُّهْرَةِ، فَإنَّهُ لا يَعْمَلُ ما يَعْمَلُهُ فِي السِّرِّ. فَإنْ كُنْتَ تَصْنَعُ هَذِهِ المُعجِزاتِ حَقّاً، أظهِرْ نَفْسكَ لِلعالَمِ.»

5 f or neither did his brethren believe on him.

إذْ لَمْ يَكُنْ حَتَّى إخْوَتُهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ.

6 J esus therefore says to them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.

فَقالَ لَهُمْ يَسوْعُ: «لَمْ يَحِنِ الوَقْتُ المُلائِمُ لِيْ بَعْدُ، بَيْنَما الوَقْتُ مُلائِمٌ لَكُمْ دائِماً.

7 T he world cannot hate you, but me it hates, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil.

لا يَسْتَطِيْعُ العالَمُ أنْ يُبْغِضَكُمْ، لَكِنَّهُ يُبْغِضُنِي لِأنِّي أقُولُ إنَّ أعمالَهُ شِرِّيْرَةٌ.

8 Y e, go ye up to this feast. I go not up to this feast, for my time is not yet fulfilled.

اذْهَبُوا أنتُمْ إلَى العِيْدِ، أمّا أنا فَلَنْ أذهَبَ إلَى هَذا العِيْدِ الآنَ، لِأنَّ وَقْتِي لِمْ يَحِنْ بَعْدُ.»

9 H aving said these things to them he abode in Galilee.

وَبَعْدَ أنْ قالَ هَذا بَقِيَ فِي الجَلِيلِ.

10 B ut when his brethren had gone up, then he himself also went up to the feast, not openly, but as in secret.

وَعِنْدَما ذَهَبَ إخْوَتُهُ إلَى العِيْدِ، ذَهَبَ هُوَ أيْضاً. غَيْرَ أنَّهُ لَمْ يَذْهَبْ عَلَناً بَلْ فِي الخَفاءِ.

11 T he Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

فَكانَ اليَهُودُ يَبْحَثُونَ عَنْهُ فِي العِيْدِ وَيَسْألُونَ: «أيْنَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ؟»

12 A nd there was much murmuring concerning him among the crowds. Some said, He is good; others said, No; but he deceives the crowd.

وَكانَ هُناكَ هَمْسٌ كَثِيْرٌ عَنْهُ بَيْنَ النّاسِ، فَقالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: «هُوَ إنسانٌ صالِحٌ.» بَيْنَما قالَ آخَرُونَ: «لا بَلْ هُوَ يَخْدَعُ النّاسَ.»

13 H owever, no one spoke openly concerning him on account of fear of the Jews.

غَيْرَ أنَّ أحَداً لَمْ يَتَحَدَّثْ عَنْهُ عَلَناً. فَقَدْ كانُوا يَخافُونَ مِنْ قادَةِ اليَهُودِ. يَسُوعُ يُعَلِّمُ فِي مَدينَةِ القُدْس

14 B ut when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.

وَلَمّا كانَ مُنْتَصَفُ العِيْدِ تَقْرِيْباً، ذَهَبَ يَسُوعُ إلَى ساحَةِ الهَيْكَلِ وَبَدَأ يُعَلِّمُ.

15 T he Jews therefore wondered, saying, How knows this letters, having never learned?

فَدُهِشَ اليَهُودُ وَقالُوا: «كَيْفَ لِهَذا الرَّجُلِ أنْ يَعْرِفَ كُلَّ هَذِهِ المَعْرِفَةِ دُونَ أنْ يَتَعَلَّمَ؟»

16 J esus therefore answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but of him that has sent me.

فَأجابَهُمْ يَسُوعُ: «ما أُعَلِّمُهُ لَيْسَ مِنِّي، بَلْ مِنَ الَّذِي أرْسَلَنِي.

17 I f any one desire to practise his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is of God, or I speak from myself.

فَإنْ أرادَ أحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ أنْ يَفْعَلَ ما يُرِيْدُهُ اللهُ، فَسَيَعْرِفُ إنْ كانَ تَعلِيْمِي مِنَ اللهِ أمْ مِنْ ذاتِي.

18 H e that speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but he that seeks the glory of him that has sent him, he is true, and unrighteousness is not in him.

مَنْ يَتَكَلَّمُ مِنْ ذاتِهِ يَسْعَى إلَى تَمْجِيْدِ ذاتِهِ، أمّا الَّذِي يَسْعَى إلَى تَمْجِيْدِ مَنْ أرْسَلَهُ فَهُوَ صادِقٌ وَلَيْسَ فِيْهِ زِيْفٌ.

19 H as not Moses given you the law, and no one of you practises the law? Why do ye seek to kill me?

ألَمْ يُعْطِكُمْ مُوسَى الشَّرِيْعَةَ؟ لَكِنْ لا أحَدَ مِنْكُمْ يُطَبِّقُ تِلْكَ الشَّرِيْعَةَ. لِماذا تَسْعَوْنَ إلَى قَتلِي؟»

20 T he crowd answered, Thou hast a demon: who seeks to kill thee?

فَأجابَ النّاسُ: «فِيْكَ رُوحٌ شِرِّيْرٌ! فَمَنِ الَّذِي يَسْعَى إلَى قَتلِكَ؟»

21 J esus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and ye all wonder.

فَقالَ لَهُمْ يَسُوعُ: «صَنَعْتُ مُعْجِزَةً واحِدَةً يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ فَانْدَهَشْتُمْ جَمِيعاً!

22 T herefore Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and ye circumcise a man on sabbath.

لَكِنَّ مُوسَى أعطاكُمْ وَصِيَّةَ الخِتانِ، مَعَ أنَّ الخِتانَ جاءَ مِنْ آبائِكُمْ لا مِنْ مُوسَى. وَها أنتُمْ تَختِنُونَ الأطفالَ حَتَّى فِي يَوْمِ السَّبْتِ!

23 I f a man receives circumcision on sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be violated, are ye angry with me because I have made a man entirely sound on sabbath?

إذاً يُمْكِنُ لِلإنسانِ أنْ يُخْتَنَ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ لِئَلّا تُكْسَرَ شَرِيْعَةُ مُوسَى. فَلِماذا تَغْضَبُونَ مِنِّي لِأنِّي شَفَيْتُ إنساناً بِكامِلِهِ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ؟

24 J udge not according to sight, but judge righteous judgment.

كُفُّوا عَنِ الحُكْمِ حَسَبَ المَظاهِرِ، وَاحْكُمُوا حَسَبَ ما هُوَ صَوابٌ حَقّاً.» يَسُوعُ هُوَ المَسِيْح

25 S ome therefore of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?

فَقالَ بَعْضُ أهلِ القُدْسِ: «ألَيْسَ هَذا هُوَ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي يَسْعُونَ إلَى قَتلِهِ؟

26 a nd behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers then indeed recognised that this is the Christ?

لَكِنْ ها هُوَ يَتَحَدَّثُ عَلَناً، وَهُمْ لا يَعْمَلُونَ شَيْئاً لَهُ! ألَعَلَّ القادَةَ اقْتَنَعُوا بِأنَّهُ هُوَ المَسِيْحُ؟

27 B ut this we know whence he is. Now the Christ, when he comes, no one knows whence he is.

لَكِنَّنا نَعْرِفُ أصلَ هَذا الإنسانِ، أمّا حِيْنَ يَأْتِي المَسِيْحُ الحَقِيْقِيُّ، فَلَنْ يَعْرِفَ أحَدٌ مِنْ أيْنَ يَأْتِي.»

28 J esus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me and ye know whence I am; and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye do not know.

وَبَيْنَما كانَ يَسُوعُ يُعَلِّمُ فِي ساحَةِ الهَيْكَلِ، رَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ وَقالَ: «أنتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَنِي وَتَعْرِفُونَ مِنْ أيْنَ أنا. فَأنا لَمْ آتِ مِنْ نَفْسِي، لَكِنَّ الَّذِي أرْسَلَنِي هُوَ الحَقُّ وَأنتُمْ لا تَعْرِفُونَهُ.

29 I know him, because I am from him, and he has sent me.

أمّا أنا فَأعْرِفُهُ لِأنِّي مِنْهُ أتَيْتُ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي أرْسَلَنِي.»

30 T hey sought therefore to take him; and no one laid his hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come.

حِيْنَئِذٍ حاوَلُوا أنْ يَقْبِضُوا عَلَيْهِ، لَكِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أحَدٌ أنْ يُمْسِكَهُ لِأنَّ وَقْتَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ قَدْ حانَ بَعْدُ.

31 B ut many of the crowd believed on him, and said, Will the Christ, when he comes, do more signs than those which this has done?

فَآمَنَ بِهِ كَثِيْرُونَ وَقالُوا: «عِنْدَما يَأْتِي المَسِيْحُ، لا يُمْكِنُ أنْ يَصْنَعَ مُعْجِزاتٍ أكْثَرَ مِمّا صَنَعَ هَذا الرَّجُلُ.» محاولةُ القَبْضِ عَلَى يَسُوع

32 T he Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they might take him.

وَسَمِعَ الفِرِّيْسِيُّونَ ما كانَ يَتَهامَسُ بِهِ النّاسُ عَنْ يَسُوعَ، فَأرْسَلَ كِبارُ الكَهَنَةِ وَالفِرِّيْسِيُّونَ حُرّاساً لِلقَبْضِ عَلَيهِ.

33 J esus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and I go to him that has sent me.

فَقالَ يَسُوعُ: «سَأبْقَى مَعَكُمْ أيُّها النّاسُ وَقْتاً قَلِيلاً بَعْدُ، وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ سَأعُودُ إلَى الَّذِي أرْسَلَنِي.

34 Y e shall seek me and shall not find, and where I am ye cannot come.

سَتَبْحَثُونَ عَنِّي، وَلَكِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَجِدُونِي لِأنَّكُمْ لا تَقْدِرُونَ أنْ تَذْهَبُوا إلَى حَيْثُ سَأكُونُ.»

35 T he Jews therefore said to one another, Where is he about to go that we shall not find him? Is he about to go to the dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

فَقالَ قادَةُ اليَهُودِ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ: «إلَى أيْنَ يَنْوِي الذَّهابَ فَلا نَقْدِرَ أنْ نَجِدَهُ؟» ألَعَلَّهُ ذاهِبٌ لِيُعَلِّمَ المُشَتَّتِيْنَ مِنْ شَعبِنا فِي المُدُنِ اليُونانِيَّةِ، وَلِيُعَلِّمَ اليُونانِيِّيْنَ مِنْ أهلِ تِلْكَ المَدُنِ؟

36 W hat word is this which he said, Ye shall seek me and shall not find; and where I am ye cannot come?

فَما مَعْنَى قَولُهُ هَذا: ‹سَتَبْحَثُونَ عَنِّي، لَكِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَجِدُونِي لِأنَّكُمْ لا تَقْدِرُونَ أنْ تَذْهَبُوا إلَى حَيْثُ سَأكُونُ›؟» يَسُوعُ يَتَحَدَّثُ عَنِ الرُّوحِ القُدُس

37 I n the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink.

وَفِي اليَوْمِ الأخِيْرِ وَالأهَمِّ مِنَ العِيْدِ، وَقَفَ يَسُوعُ وَقالَ بِصَوْتٍ مُرْتَفِعٍ: «إنْ عَطِشَ أحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ، فَلْيَأْتِ إلَيَّ وَيَشْرَبْ.

38 H e that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

وَمَنْ آمَنَ بِي، سَتَفِيْضُ مِنْ أعماقِهِ أنْهارُ ماءٍ حَيٍّ، كَما يَقُولُ الكِتابُ. »

39 B ut this he said concerning the Spirit, which they that believed on him were about to receive; for Spirit was not yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

قالَ يَسُوعُ هَذا عَنِ الرُّوحِ القُدُسِ الَّذِي سَيَنالُهُ المُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ. لَكِنْ لِأنَّ يَسُوعَ لَمْ يَكُنْ قَدْ تَمَجَّدَ بَعْدُ، فَإنَّ الرُّوحَ لَمْ يَكُنْ قَدْ أُرْسِلَ بَعْدُ. الخِلافُ حَولَ يَسُوع

40 o ut of the crowd therefore, having heard this word, said, This is truly the prophet.

فَلَمّا سَمِعَ بَعْضُ النّاسِ هَذا الكَلامَ بَدَأُوا يَقُولُونَ: «هَذا الرَّجُلُ هُوَ النَّبِيُّ حَقّاً.»

41 O thers said, This is the Christ. Others said, Does then the Christ come out of Galilee?

وَكانَ آخَرُونَ يَقُولُونَ: «هَذا الرَّجُلُ هُوَ المَسِيْحُ.» غَيْرَ أنَّ آخَرِيْنَ كانُوا يَقُولُونَ: «أيُعْقَلُ أنْ يَأْتِيَ المَسِيْحُ مِنَ الجَلِيلِ؟

42 H as not the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?

ألا يَقُولُ الكِتابُ إنَّ المَسِيْحَ سَيَكُونُ مِنْ نَسلِ داوُدَ، وَإنَّهُ يَأْتِي مِنْ بَلْدَةِ بَيْتَ لَحْمَ حَيْثُ عاشَ داوُدُ؟»

43 T here was a division therefore in the crowd on account of him.

فَحَدَثَ انقِسامٌ بَيْنَ النّاسِ بِسَبَبِهِ.

44 B ut some of them desired to take him, but no one laid hands upon him.

وَأرادَ بَعْضُهُمْ أنْ يَقْبِضَ عَلَيْهِ، لَكِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أحَدٌ أنْ يُمْسِكَهُ. قادَةُ اليَهُودِ يَرْفُضُونَ أنْ يُؤْمِنُوا

45 T he officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, Why have ye not brought him?

فَرَجِعَ حُرّاسُ الهَيْكَلِ إلَى الفِرِّيْسِيِّيْنَ وَكِبارِ الكَهَنَةِ. فَسَألَ هَؤُلاءِ الحُرّاسَ: «لِماذا لَمْ تُحْضِرُوهُ؟»

46 T he officers answered, Never man spoke thus, as this man.

فَأجابَ الحُرّاسُ: «لَمْ يَتَحَدَّثْ إنسانٌ بِمِثلِ هَذا الكَلامِ قَطُّ!»

47 T he Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived?

فَقالَ الفِرِّيْسِيُّونَ: «هَلْ خُدِعْتُمْ أنتُمْ أيضاً؟

48 H as any one of the rulers believed on him, or of the Pharisees?

هَلْ تَعْرِفُونَ أحَداً مِنَ القادَةِ أوِ الفِرِّيْسِيِّيْنَ آمَنَ بِهِ؟

49 B ut this crowd, which does not know the law, are accursed.

لَكِنَّ أُولَئِكَ النّاسُ فِي الخارِجِ لا يَعْرِفُونَ شَيْئاً عَنِ الشَّرِيْعَةِ، وَهُمْ تَحتَ لَعْنَةِ اللهِ!»

50 N icodemus says to them (being one of themselves),

وَكانَ نِيقُودِيْمُوسُ واحِداً مِنَ الفِرِّيْسِيِّيْنَ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي كانَ قَدْ ذَهَبَ إلَى يَسُوعَ سابِقاً. فَسَألَهُمْ:

51 D oes our law judge a man before it have first heard from himself, and know what he does?

«هَلْ تَحْكُمُ شَرِيْعَتُنا عَلَى أحَدٍ قَبلَ الاسْتِماعِ إلَيْهِ أوَّلا وَمَعْرِفَةِ ما فَعَلَهُ؟»

52 T hey answered and said to him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and look, that no prophet arises out of Galilee.

فَأجابُوهُ: «يَبْدُوا أنَّكَ أنْتَ أيضاً مِنْ أهلِ الجَلِيلِ؟ ابْحَثْ فِي الكُتُبِ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ شَيْئاً عَنْ نَبِيٍّ يَأْتِي مِنَ الجَلِيلِ.»

53 A nd every one went to his home.

فَذَهَبُوا جَمِيعاً كُلُّ واحِدٍ إلَى بَيْتِهِ.
