1 I n the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, (and he fought against Ashdod and took it,)

وَأرسَلَ سَرْجُونُ مَلِكُ أشُّورَ تَرْتانَ قائِدَ القُوّاتِ الأشُّورِيَّةِ إلَى أشدُودَ. فَحارَبَ تَرْتانُ أشدُودَ فِي تِلكَ السَّنَةِ وَاستَولَى عَلَيها.

2 a t that time spoke Jehovah by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy sandal from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

فِي ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ، كَلَّمَ اللهُ إشَعْياءَ بْنَ آمُوصَ فَقالَ: «اذْهَبْ وَاخلَعْ ثِيابَ الحُزنِ الَّتِي تَرتَدِيها عَلَى جَسَدِكَ، وَاخلَعْ حِذاءَكَ مِنْ قَدَمَيكَ.» فَفَعَلَ وَصارَ يَمْشِي عارِياً حافِياً.

3 A nd Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,

ثُمَّ قالَ اللهُ: «كَما سارَ عَبدِيَ إشَعْياءُ عارِياً وَحافِياً ثَلاثَ سَنَواتٍ كَعَلامَةٍ لِمِصْرَ وَكُوشَ،

4 s o shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, the shame of Egypt.

هَكَذا سَيَقُودُ مَلِكُ أشُّورَ الأسرَى مِنْ مِصرَ وَكُوشَ كِباراً وَصِغاراً. سَيَقُودُهُمْ عُراةً حُفاةً وَمَكشُوفِي الأجْسامِ. وَلِذَلِكَ سَتَخزَى مِصرُ.

5 A nd they shall be terrified and ashamed of Ethiopia their confidence, and of Egypt their boast.

سَيَتَحَيَّرُونَ وَيُذَلُّونَ بِسَبَبِ كُوشَ الَّذِي وَضَعُوا فِيهِ آمالَهُمْ، وَبِسَبَبِ مِصرَ الَّتِي افتَخَرُوا بِقُوَّتِها.»

6 A nd the inhabitants of this coast shall say in that day, Behold, such is our confidence, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?

فِي ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ، سَيَقُولُ الشَّعبُ السّاكِنُ قُربَ البَحرِ: «هَذا ما حَدَثَ لِمَنِ اتَّكَلْنا عَلَيهِمْ، الَّذِينَ رَكَضْنا نَحوَهُمْ لِيُساعِدُونا وَيُنقِذُونا مِنْ مَلِكِ أشُّورَ. فَكَيفَ يُمكِنُنا نَحنُ أنْ نَهرُبَ؟»
