1 W oe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and depend on horses, and confide in chariots because many, and in horsemen because they are very strong; and who look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah!

وَيلٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَنزِلُونَ إلَى مِصرَ مِنْ أجلِ المُساعَدَةِ. وَيَتَّكِلُونَ عَلَى الخَيلِ لِتُخَلِّصَهُمْ، وَعَلَى المَركَباتِ لأنَّها كَثِيرَةٌ، وَعَلَى الفُرسانِ لأنَّهُمْ أقوِياءُ. وَلَكِنَّهُمْ لا يَنظُرُونَ إلَى قُدُّوسِ إسْرائِيلَ، وَلا يَطلُبُونَ اللهَ لأجلِ المَعُونَةِ.

2 B ut he also is wise, and he bringeth evil, and recalleth not his words; and he will arise against the house of evildoers, and against the help of workers of iniquity.

لَكِنَّهُ حَكِيمٌ، يَأتِي بِالضِّيقِ وَلا يَتَراجَعُ عَنْ كَلِماتِهِ. سَيَقُومُ لِيُحارِبَ بَيتَ الأشرارِ وَالَّذِينَ يُعِينُونَهُمْ.

3 A nd the Egyptians are men, and not God, and their horses flesh, and not spirit; and Jehovah shall stretch forth his hand, and he that helpeth shall stumble, and he that is helped shall fall, and they all shall perish together.

مِصْرُ بَشَرٌ وَلَيسَتِ هِيَ اللهَ ، وَلَيسَتْ خُيُولُها سِوَى أجسادٍ لا رُوحَ لَها. وَعِندَما يَمُدُّ اللهُ يَدَهُ لِيُعاقِبَ النّاسَ، يَتَعَثَّرُ المُعِينُ وَيَسقُطُ المُعانُ، وَكِلاهُما يُدَمَّرانِ مَعاً.

4 F or thus hath Jehovah said unto me: Like as the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, is not afraid of their voice, nor giveth way before the multitude of them; so will Jehovah of hosts come down to war upon mount Zion, and on the hill thereof.

لأنَّ هَذا هُوَ ما قالَهُ اللهُ لِي: «عِندَما يُزَمجِرُ الأسَدُ مَعَ أشبالِهِ عَلَى فَرِيسَةٍ، وَتُدعَى جَماعَةٌ مِنَ الرُّعاةِ لِرَدعِهِ، فَإنَّهُ لا يَخافُ مِنْ صُراخِهِمْ، وَمِنْ ضَجَّتِهِمْ لا يَرتَعِبُ.» هَكَذا سَيَأتِي اللهُ القَدِيرُ لِيُحارِبَ عَلَى جَبَلِ صِهْيَوْنَ وَعَلَى تَلَّتِها.

5 A s birds with outstretched wings, so will Jehovah of hosts cover Jerusalem; covering, he will also deliver, passing over, he will rescue.

وَكَما تُرَفرِفُ الطُّيُورُ بِأجنِحَتِها، هَكَذا سَيَحمِي اللهُ القَدِيرُ مَدينَةَ القُدْسِ. سَيَحمِيها وَيُخَلِّصُها. سَيَغفِرُ لِها وَيُنَجِّيها.

6 T urn unto him from whom ye have deeply revolted, ye children of Israel;

عُودُوا يا بَني إسْرائِيلَ إلَى اللهِ الَّذِي خُنْتُمُوهُ.

7 f or in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which your sinful hands have made unto you.

فَفِي ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ، سَتَرفُضُونَ جَميعاً أوثانَ الفِضَّةِ وَأوثانَ الذَّهَبِ الَّتِي صَنَعَتْها لَكُمْ أيدِيكُمُ الخاطِئَةُ.

8 A nd Asshur shall fall by the sword, not of a great man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become tributary;

سَتُهزَمُ أشُّورُ بِالسَّيفِ، لَكِنْ لَيسَ بِسَيفِ إنسانٍ. سَيهزِمُها السَّيفُ، لَكِنْ لَيسَ سَيفاً بَشَرِيّاً. سَتَهرُبُ مِنَ السَّيفِ، وَلَكِنْ سَيُؤسَرُ فِتيانُها وَيُستَعبَدُونَ.

9 a nd for fear, he shall pass over to his rock, and his princes shall be afraid of the banner, saith Jehovah, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.

سَتُدَمَّرُ صَخرَتُهُمْ، وَمَلجَأُهُمُ الَّذَي هَرَبُوا إلَيهِ بِسَبَبِ الرُّعبِ. سَيَرتَعِبُ رُؤَساؤُهُمْ عِندَما يَرَونَ رايَةَ الحَربِ. هَكَذا يَقُولُ اللهُ الَّذِي نارُهُ فِي صِهْيَوْنَ، وَفُرنُهُ فِي القُدْسِ.
