1 F or we know that if our earthly tabernacle house be destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

وَنَحنُ نَعلَمُ أنَّهُ عِندَما تَنْهَدِمُ خَيمَتُنا الأرْضِيَّةُ، فَإنَّ لَنا بِناءً مِنَ اللهِ، بَيتاً أبَدِيّاً فِي السَّماءِ. وَهُوَ بَيتٌ غَيرُ مَصنُوعٍ بِأيدِي النّاسِ.

2 F or indeed in this we groan, ardently desiring to have put on our house which from heaven;

لِذَلِكَ نَئنُّ وَنَحنُ فِي هَذا المَسكَنِ مُشتاقينَ أنْ نَلبَسَ مَسكَنَنا السَّماوِيَّ.

3 i f indeed being also clothed we shall not be found naked.

فَإنْ لَبِسناهُ، لا نَكُونُ عُراةً فِيما بَعْدُ.

4 F or indeed we who are in the tabernacle groan, being burdened; while yet we do not wish to be unclothed, but clothed, that mortal may be swallowed up by life.

فَنَحنُ الَّذِينَ نَئِنُّ فِي هَذا المَسكَنِ تَحتَ حِملٍ ثَقِيلٍ، لا نَشتاقُ إلَى أنْ نَتَخَلَّصَ مِنْ جَسَدِنا الأرْضِيِّ الحالِيِّ، بَلْ نَشتاقُ إلَى أنْ نَلبَسَ الجَسَدَ السَّماوِيَّ فَوقَهُ، فَتَتَغَلَّبُ الحَياةُ عَلَى المَوتِ.

5 N ow he that has wrought us for this very thing God, who also has given to us the earnest of the Spirit.

فَالَّذي أعَدَّنا لِهَذا الهَدَفِ هُوَ اللهُ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي أعطانا الرُّوحَ القُدُسَ عُربُوناً يَضمَنُ أنَّهُ سَيُعطِينا ما وَعَدَنا بِهِ.

6 T herefore always confident, and know that while present in the body we are absent from the Lord,

وَنَحنُ عَلَى ثِقَةٍ دائِمَةٍ بِهَذا، لِأنَّنا نَعرِفُ أنَّنا ما دُمنا نَعِيشُ فِي جَسَدِنا، نَكُونُ مُتَغَرِّبينَ عَنِ الرَّبِّ.

7 ( for we walk by faith, not by sight;)

أقُولُ هَذا لِأنَّنا نَسلُكُ عَلَى أساسِ الإيمانِ، لا عَلَى أساسِ ما يُمكِنُنا رُؤيَتُهُ.

8 w e are confident, I say, and pleased rather to be absent from the body and present with the Lord.

وَإنَّنا لَواثِقُونَ مِنْ هَذا، وَنُفَضِّلُ أنْ نُغادِرَ أجسادَنا وَنَذهَبَ لِنَستَقِرَّ عِندَ الرَّبِّ.

9 W herefore also we are zealous, whether present or absent, to be agreeable to him.

وَلِهَذا فَإنَّ طُمُوحَنا، سَواءٌ كُنّا حاضِرِينَ عِندَهُ أوْ مُتَغَرِّبينَ عَنهُ، هُوَ أنْ نُرضِيَهُ.

10 F or we must all be manifested before the judgment-seat of the Christ, that each may receive the things in the body, according to those he has done, whether good or evil.

إذْ يَنبَغِي أنْ نَقِفَ جَمِيعاً أمامَ كُرسِيِّ قَضاءِ المَسِيحِ، لِكَي يَنالَ كُلُّ واحِدٍ جَزاءَ ما فَعَلَهُ وَهُوَ فِي هَذا الجَسَدِ، خَيراً كانَ أمْ شَرّاً. مُساعَدَةُ النّاسِ عَلَى مَعرفةِ الله

11 K nowing therefore the terror of the Lord we persuade men, but have been manifested to God, and I hope also that we have been manifested in your consciences.

وَلِهَذا، بِما أنَّنا نَعرِفُ ما تَعنِيهِ مَهابَةُ الرَّبِّ، نُقنِعُ النّاسَ بِقُبُولِ الحَقِّ. اللهُ يَعرِفُنا جَيِّداً، وَأرجُو أنْ نَكُونَ مَعرُوفِينَ جَيِّداً لَدَيكُمْ أيضاً.

12 w e do not again commend ourselves to you, but giving to you occasion of boast in our behalf, that ye may have with those boasting in countenance, and not in heart.

وَنَحنُ بِهَذا لا نَمدَحُ أنفُسَنا، بَلْ نُعطِيكُمْ فُرصَةً لِلِافتِخارِ بِنا، لِكَي تَرُدُّوا عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَفتَخِرُونَ بِالمَظهَرِ لا بِالقَلبِ.

13 F or whether we are beside ourselves, to God; or are sober, for you.

فَإنْ كُنّا نَتَصَرَّفُ كَمَجانِينَ، فَنَحنُ مَجانِينُ للهِ! وَإنْ كُنّا عاقِلِينَ، فَنَحنُ عاقِلُونَ مِنْ أجلِكُمْ.

14 F or the love of the Christ constrains us, having judged this: that one died for all, then all have died;

فَمَحَبَّةُ المَسِيحِ تَدْفَعُنا، لِأنَّنا نُؤمِنُ بِهَذا: إنْ ماتَ إنسانٌ مِنْ أجلِ جَمِيعِ البَشَرِ، فَالجَمِيعُ إذاً قَدْ ماتُوا.

15 a nd he died for all, that they who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who died for them and has been raised.

وَقَدْ ماتَ المَسِيحُ مِنْ أجلِ جَمِيعِ البَشَرِ، لِكَيلا يَعِيشَ الأحياءُ لِأنفُسِهِمْ فِيما بَعْدُ، بَلْ لِلَّذِي ماتَ وَأُقِيمَ مِنَ المَوتِ مِنْ أجلِهِمْ.

16 S o that we henceforth know no one according to flesh; but if even we have known Christ according to flesh, yet now we know no longer.

وَلِهَذا فَإنَّنا، مِنَ الآنَ فَصاعِداً، لا نَنظُرُ إلَى أحَدٍ مِنْ وُجهَةِ نَظَرٍ أرْضِيَّةٍ. وَرُغمَ أنَّنا كُنّا نَنظُرُ هَكَذا إلَى المَسِيحِ، إلّا أنَّنا لا نَنظُرُ بَعدُ إلَيهِ بِهَذِهِ الطَّرِيقَةِ.

17 S o if any one in Christ, a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold all things have become new:

إذاً إنْ كانَ أحَدٌ فِي المَسِيحِ، فَهُوَ الآنَ خَلِيقَةٌ جَدِيدَةٌ. النِّظامُ القَدِيمُ قَدِ انتَهَى، وَها كُلُّ شَيءٍ قَدْ صارَ جَدِيداً.

18 a nd all things of the God who has reconciled us to himself by Christ, and given to us the ministry of that reconciliation:

وَهَذا كُلُّهُ مِنَ اللهِ الَّذِي صالَحَنا مَعَ نَفسِهِ فِي المَسِيحِ، وَأعطانا أنْ نَحمِلَ رِسالَةَ المُصالَحَةِ.

19 h ow that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their offences; and putting in us the word of that reconciliation.

فَرِسالَتُنا هِيَ أنَّ اللهَ فِي المَسِيحِ قَدْ صالَحَ العالَمَ مَعَ نَفسِهِ، غَيرَ حاسِبٍ لَهُمْ خَطاياهُمْ. وَقَدْ أعطانا رِسالَةَ المُصالَحَةِ.

20 W e are ambassadors therefore for Christ, God as beseeching by us, we entreat for Christ, Be reconciled to God.

فَنَحنُ نَعمَلُ كَسُفَراءَ لِلمَسِيحِ، وَكَأنَّ اللهَ يَدعُوكُمْ بِواسِطَتِنا. لِذَلِكَ نَطلُبُ إلَيكُمْ نِيابَةً عَنِ المَسِيحِ: «تَصالَحُوا مَعَ اللهِ.»

21 H im who knew not sin he has made sin for us, that we might become God's righteousness in him.

لِأنَّ اللهَ جَعَلَ المَسِيحَ الَّذِي لَمْ يَعرِفْ خَطِيَّةً، خَطِيَّةً مِنْ أجلِنا، لِكَي يَصِيرَ لَنا فِيهِ بِرُّ اللهِ.
