But do thou speak the things that become sound teaching;

that the elder men be sober, grave, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience;
3 T he aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of honesty;
that the elder women in like manner be in deportment as becoming those who have to say to sacred things, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is right;
4 t hat they may teach the young women to be prudent, to love their husbands, to love their children,
that they may admonish the young women to be attached to husbands, to be attached to children,
5 t o be temperate, chaste, good housekeepers, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God not be blasphemed.
discreet, chaste, diligent in home work, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.
6 Y oung men likewise exhort to be temperate;
The younger men in like manner exhort to be discreet:
7 i n all things showing thyself as an example of good works, in doctrine showing integrity, seriousness, purity,
in all things affording thyself as a pattern of good works; in teaching uncorruptedness, gravity,
8 s ound speech, that cannot be condemned; that the adversary may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
a sound word, not to be condemned; that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us:
9 E xhort slaves to be subject to their own masters and to please them well in all things; not contradicting;
bondmen to be subject to their own masters, to make themselves acceptable in everything; not gainsaying;
10 n ot defrauding, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
not robbing, but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the teaching which of our Saviour God in all things.
11 ¶ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared,
12 t eaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live temperately, righteously, and godly in this present world;
teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,
13 w aiting for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ,
awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 w ho gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a people of his own, zealous of good works.
who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.
