Matthew 7 ~ Matthew 7

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Judge not, that ye may not be judged;

2 F or with the judgment with which ye judge, ye shall be judged, and with the measure with which ye measure, ye shall be measured again.

for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you.

3 A nd why dost thou behold the mote that is in thy brother’s eye but dost not consider the beam that is in thine own eye?

But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye?

4 O r how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow, I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye?

5 T hou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou be able to see to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother.

6 G ive not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you.

Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you;

Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.

8 f or every one that asks receives, and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

9 O r what man is there of you, whom, if his son asks for bread, will he give him a stone?

Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone;

10 O r if he asks for fish, will he give him a serpent?

and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent?

11 I f ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to those that ask him?

If therefore ye, being wicked, know to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him?

12 Therefore, all things whatsoever ye desire that men should do unto you, so also shall ye do unto them, for this is the law and the prophets.

Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do ye also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

13 E nter ye in at the narrow gate, for the way that leads to destruction is wide and spacious, and those who follow it are many;

Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it.

14 b ecause narrow is the gate, and confined is the way which leads unto life, and there are few that find it.

For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it.

15 Keep yourselves also from the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves.

16 Y e shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

By their fruits ye shall know them. Do gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs?

17 E ven so every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.

So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits.

19 E very tree that does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

20 S o that by their fruits ye shall know them.

By their fruits then surely ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in the heavens.

Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens.

22 M any will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through thy name, and through thy name cast out demons, and through thy name done many works of power?

23 A nd then I will profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness.

24 T herefore, whosoever hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;

Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;

25 a nd the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded upon a rock.

and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock.

26 A nd every one that hears these words of mine and does not do them shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand;

And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand;

27 a nd the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.

and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.

28 A nd it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these words, the multitude marvelled at his doctrine;

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine,

29 f or he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.

for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes.
