1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks, for that thy name is near, thy wondrous works declare.

Unto thee we give thanks, O God, we give thanks; and thy name is near: thy marvellous works declare it.

2 W hen I shall receive the congregation, I will judge uprightly.

When I shall receive the assembly, I will judge with equity.

3 T he earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved; I bore up the pillars of it. Selah.

The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I have established its pillars. Selah.

4 I said unto the fools, Do not deal foolishly and to the wicked, Do not lift up the horn:

I said unto the boastful, Boast not; and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

5 D o not lift up your horn on high; speak not with a stiff neck.

Lift not up your horn on high; speak not arrogantly with a neck.

6 For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the desert.

For not from the east nor from the west, nor yet from the south doth exaltation:

7 B ut God is the judge; he puts down one and sets up another.

For God is the judge; he putteth down one and exalteth another.

8 F or the cup is in the hand of the LORD, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he pours out of the same; yea, the dregs thereof, shall wring out and swallow up all the wicked of the earth.

For in the hand of Jehovah there is a cup, and it foameth with wine, it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same; yea, the dregs thereof shall all the wicked of the earth drain off, drink.

9 B ut I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

But as for me, I will declare for ever; I will sing psalms to the God of Jacob.

10 A nd I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

And all the horns of the wicked will I cut off; the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
