1 ¶ And Job answered and said,

约 伯 回 答 说 ：

2 N o doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

你 们 真 是 子 民 哪 ， 你 们 死 亡 ， 智 慧 也 就 灭 没 了 。

3 B ut I have a heart as well as you; I am not inferior to you; and who shall not be able to say as much again?

但 我 也 有 聪 明 ， 与 你 们 一 样 ， 并 非 不 及 你 们 。 你 们 所 说 的 ， 谁 不 知 道 呢 ？

4 H e who invokes God and he answers him is mocked by his friend; the just and perfect man is laughed to scorn.

我 这 求 告 神 、 蒙 他 应 允 的 人 竟 成 了 朋 友 所 讥 笑 的 ； 公 义 完 全 人 竟 受 了 人 的 讥 笑 。

5 T he torch is held in low esteem in the thought of him that is prosperous, which was prepared to guard against a slip of the feet.

安 逸 的 人 心 里 藐 视 灾 祸 ； 这 灾 祸 常 常 等 待 滑 脚 的 人 。

6 ¶ The tents of robbers are at ease, and those that provoke God and those who carry gods in their hands live secure.

强 盗 的 帐 棚 兴 旺 ， 惹 神 的 人 稳 固 ， 神 多 将 财 物 送 到 他 们 手 中 。

7 B ut ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the heavens, and they shall show thee;

你 且 问 走 兽 ， 走 兽 必 指 教 你 ； 又 问 空 中 的 飞 鸟 ， 飞 鸟 必 告 诉 你 ；

8 o r speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; the fishes of the sea shall declare it unto thee also.

或 与 地 说 话 ， 地 必 指 教 你 ； 海 中 的 鱼 也 必 向 你 说 明 。

9 W hat thing of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD made them?

看 这 一 切 ， 谁 不 知 道 是 耶 和 华 的 手 做 成 的 呢 ？

10 I n his hand is the soul of every living thing and the spirit of all flesh of man.

凡 活 物 的 生 命 和 人 类 的 气 息 都 在 他 手 中 。

11 C ertainly the ear proves words and the mouth tastes foods.

耳 朵 岂 不 试 验 言 语 ， 正 如 上 膛 尝 食 物 麽 ？

12 ¶ With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days intelligence.

年 老 的 有 智 慧 ； 寿 高 的 有 知 识 。

13 W ith him is wisdom and strength; he has counsel and intelligence.

在 神 有 智 慧 和 能 力 ； 他 有 谋 略 和 知 识 。

14 B ehold, he shall break down, and it shall not be built again; he shall shut up a man, and no one shall be able to open unto him.

他 拆 毁 的 ， 就 不 能 再 建 造 ； 他 捆 住 人 ， 便 不 得 开 释 。

15 B ehold, he shall withhold the waters, and they shall dry up; also he shall send them forth, and they shall destroy the earth.

他 把 水 留 住 ， 水 便 枯 乾 ； 他 再 发 出 水 来 ， 水 就 翻 地 。

16 W ith him is strength and existence; he who errs and he who leads astray are his.

在 他 有 能 力 和 智 慧 ， 被 诱 惑 的 与 诱 惑 人 的 都 是 属 他 。

17 H e causes the counsellors to walk away stripped of counsel and makes the judges to be fools.

他 把 谋 士 剥 衣 掳 去 ， 又 使 审 判 官 变 成 愚 人 。

18 H e looses the bond of kings and girds their loins with a girdle.

他 放 松 君 王 的 绑 ， 又 用 带 子 捆 他 们 的 腰 。

19 H e leads priests away spoiled and overthrows the mighty.

他 把 祭 司 剥 衣 掳 去 ， 又 使 有 能 的 人 倾 败 。

20 H e impedes the lips of those that speak the truth and takes away the counsel of the aged.

他 废 去 忠 信 人 的 讲 论 ， 又 夺 去 老 人 的 聪 明 。

21 H e pours contempt upon princes and weakens the strength of the mighty.

他 使 君 王 蒙 羞 被 辱 ， 放 松 有 力 之 人 的 腰 带 。

22 H e uncovers the depths of the darkness and brings out to light the shadow of death.

他 将 深 奥 的 事 从 黑 暗 中 彰 显 ， 使 死 荫 显 为 光 明 。

23 H e multiplies the Gentiles and destroys them; he scatters the Gentiles and gathers them again.

他 使 邦 国 兴 旺 而 又 毁 灭 ； 他 使 邦 国 开 广 而 又 掳 去 。

24 H e takes away the heart of the heads of the people of the earth and causes them to become lost, wandering without a way.

他 将 地 上 民 中 首 领 的 聪 明 夺 去 ， 使 他 们 在 荒 废 无 路 之 地 漂 流 ；

25 T hey grope in the darkness and not the light, and he causes them to err like drunken men.

他 们 无 光 ， 在 黑 暗 中 摸 索 ， 又 使 他 们 东 倒 西 歪 ， 像 醉 酒 的 人 一 样 。
