1 A nd the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep.

Then the angel who was speaking with me returned and woke me up like a man would be made to wake up from his sleep.

2 A nd he said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I see, and behold, a lamp-stand all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and its seven lamps thereon, seven and seven pipes to the lamps, which are upon the top thereof;

He said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a gold lamp-stand with a cup at the top and seven lamps on it. And there are seven places to hold oil, one on the top of each of the lamps.

3 a nd two olive-trees beside it, one on the right of the bowl, and the other on the left of it.

There are two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the cup and the other on its left side.”

4 A nd I answered and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?

Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?”

5 A nd the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these are? And I said, No, my lord.

So the angel who was speaking with me said, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” God’s Promise to Zechariah

6 A nd he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of Jehovah unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Then he said to me, “This is the Word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by strength nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of All.

7 W ho art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel a plain; and he shall bring forth the head-stone with shoutings: Grace, grace unto it!

‘What are you, O great mountain? In front of Zerubbabel you will become a plain. Then he will bring out the top stone and call out, “May God give it loving-favor!”’”

8 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Also the Word of the Lord came to me saying,

9 T he hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; and his hands shall finish it: and thou shalt know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me unto you.

“Zerubbabel’s hands have laid the first stones of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of All has sent me to you.

10 F or who hath despised the day of small things? Yea, they shall rejoice those seven—and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel: these are the eyes of Jehovah, which run to and fro in the whole earth.

Who has hated the day of small things? Men will be glad when they see Zerubbabel building the walls of the Lord’s house. These seven are the eyes of the Lord which travel over all the earth.”

11 A nd I answered and said unto him, What are these two olive-trees on the right of the lamp-stand and on its left?

Then I said to him, “What are these two olive trees on the right and left sides of the lamp-stand?”

12 A nd I answered the second time and said unto him, What are the two olive-branches which are beside the two golden tubes that empty the gold out of themselves?

A second time I said to him, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold places that hold the oil to be poured out?”

13 A nd he spoke to me, saying, Knowest thou not what these are? And I said, No, my lord.

He answered me saying, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

14 A nd he said, These are the two sons of oil, that stand before the Lord of the whole earth.

Then he said, “These are the two who are set apart to serve the Lord of All the earth.”
