1 J ehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy majesty above the heavens.

O Lord, our Lord, how great is Your name in all the earth. You have set Your shining-greatness above the heavens.

2 O ut of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established praise because of thine adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger.

Out of the mouth of children and babies, You have built up strength because of those who hate You, and to quiet those who fight against You.

3 W hen I see thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and stars, which thou hast established;

When I look up and think about Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in their place,

4 W hat is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

what is man, that You think of him, the son of man that You care for him?

5 T hou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and splendour.

You made him a little less than the angels and gave him a crown of greatness and honor.

6 T hou hast made him to rule over the works of thy hands; thou hast put everything under his feet:

You made him to rule over the works of Your hands. You put all things under his feet:

7 S heep and oxen, all of them, and also the beasts of the field;

All sheep and cattle, all the wild animals,

8 T he fowl of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, passeth through the paths of the seas.

the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and all that pass through the sea.

9 J ehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

O Lord, our Lord, how great is Your name in all the earth!
