1 A nd these are the sons of David, who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn, Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jizreelitess; the second, Daniel, of Abigail the Carmelitess;

These were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron. The first-born was Amnon, whose mother was Ahinoam of Jezreel. The second was Daniel, the son of Abigail of Carmel.

2 t he third, Absalom the son of Maachah, daughter of Talmai king of Geshur; the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith;

The third was Absalom the son of Maacah, the daughter of King Talmai of Geshur. The fourth was Adonijah the son of Haggith.

3 t he fifth, Shephatiah of Abital; the sixth, Ithream, of Eglah his wife:

The fifth was Shephatiah the son of Abital. And the sixth was Ithream, by David’s wife Eglah.

4 s ix were born to him in Hebron. And there he reigned seven years and six months. And in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years.

Six sons were born to David in Hebron. He ruled there for seven years and six months. And he ruled in Jerusalem for thirty-three years.

5 A nd these were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, four, of Bath-shua the daughter of Ammiel;

These are the sons who were born to him in Jerusalem: Bathsheba the daughter of Ammiel gave birth to David’s four sons, Shimea, Shobab, Nathan and Solomon.

6 a nd Ibhar, and Elishama, and Eliphelet,

And there were Ibhar, Elishama, Eliphelet,

7 a nd Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

8 a nd Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine:

Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine sons.

9 a ll were sons of David, besides the sons of the concubines; and Tamar was their sister.

All these were the sons of David, added to the sons of the women who acted as David’s wives. Tamar was their sister. The Family of Solomon

10 A nd Solomon's son was Rehoboam; Abijah his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son,

Solomon’s son was Rehoboam. Abijah was his son. Asa was his son. Jehoshaphat was his son.

11 J oram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son,

Joram was his son. Ahaziah was his son. Joash was his son.

12 A maziah his son, Azariah his son, Jotham his son,

Amaziah was his son. Azariah was his son. Jotham was his son.

13 A haz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son,

Ahaz was his son. Hezekiah was his son. Manasseh was his son.

14 A mon his son, Josiah his son.

Amon was his son. And Josiah was his son.

15 A nd the sons of Josiah: the firstborn Johanan, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, the fourth Shallum.

The sons of Josiah were Johanan the first-born, Jehoiakim the second, Zedekiah the third, and Shallum the fourth.

16 A nd the sons of Jehoiakim: Jeconiah his son, Zedekiah his son.

The sons of Jehoiakim were Jeconiah and Zedekiah. The Family of Jeconiah

17 A nd the sons of Jeconiah: Assir; Salathiel his son,

Jeconiah was taken away to prison by the Babylonians. His sons were Shealtiel,

18 M alchiram also, and Pedaiah, and Shenazzar, Jecamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.

Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.

19 A nd the sons of Pedaiah were Zerubbabel and Shimei. And the sons of Zerubbabel: Meshullam and Hananiah, and Shelomith their sister,

Pedaiah’s sons were Zerubbabel and Shimei. And the sons of Zerubbabel were Meshullam and Hananiah. Shelomith was their sister.

20 a nd Hashubah, and Ohel, and Berechiah, and Hasadiah, Jushab-hesed, five.

Five other sons of Zerubbabel were Hashubah, Ohel, Berechiah, Hasadiah, and Jushab-hesed.

21 A nd the sons of Hananiah: Pelatiah and Isaiah; the sons of Rephaiah, the sons of Arnan, the sons of Obadiah, the sons of Shechaniah.

The sons of Hananiah were Pelatiah and Jeshaiah, whose son was Rephaiah. His son was Arnan. His son was Obadiah. And his son was Shecaniah.

22 A nd the sons of Shechaniah: Shemaiah; and the sons of Shemaiah: Hattush, and Jigeal, and Bariah, and Neariah, and Shaphat, six.

Shecaniah’s son was Shemaiah, whose sons were Hattush, Igal, Bariah, Neariah, and Shaphat, six sons.

23 A nd the sons of Neariah: Elioenai, and Hezekiah, and Azrikam, three.

The three sons of Neariah were Elioenai, Hizkiah and Azrikam.

24 A nd the sons of Elioenai: Hodaviah, and Eliashib, and Pelaiah, and Akkub, and Johanan, and Delaiah, and Anani, seven.

And the seven sons of Elioenai were Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani.
