1 B eloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Възлюбени, не вярвайте на всеки дух, но изпитвайте духовете дали са от Бога; защото много лъжепророци излязоха по света.

2 H ereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

По това познавайте Божия Дух: всеки дух, който изповяда, че Исус Христос дойде в плът, е от Бога;

3 a nd every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

а никой, който не изповядва Спасителя Гръцки: Исуса>, не е от Бога; и това е духът на Антихриста, за когото сте чули, че иде и сега е вече в света.

4 Y e are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Вие сте от Бога, дечица, и победили сте ги; защото по-велик е Оня, Който е с вас от онзи, който е в света.

5 T hey are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

Те са от света, за това светски говорят и светът тях слуша

6 W e are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Ние сме от Бога; който познава Бога, нас слуша; който не е от Бога, не ни слуша. По това разпознаваме духа на истината и духа на заблудата.

7 B eloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Възлюбени, да любим един другиго, защото любовта е от Бога; и всеки, който люби, роден е от Бога и познава Бога.

8 H e that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Който не люби, не е познал Бога; защото Бог е любов

9 I n this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

В това се яви Божията любов към нас, че Бог изпрати на света Своя еднороден Син, за да живеем чрез Него.

10 H erein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

В това се състои любовта, не че ние сме възлюбили Бога, но че Той въблюби нас и прати Сина Си като омилостивение на греховете ни.

11 B eloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Въблюбени, понеже така ни е възлюбил Бог, то и ние сме длъжни да любим един другиго.

12 N o man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Никой никога не е видял Бога; но ако любим един другиго, Бог пребъдва в нас, и любовта към него е съвършена в нас.

13 H ereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

По това познаваме, че пребъдваме в Него и Той в нас, гдето ни е дал от Духа Си.

14 A nd we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

И видяхме и свидетелствуваме, че Отец прати Сина Си да бъде Спасител на Света.

15 W hosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Ако някой изповяда, че Исус е Божият Син, Бог пребъдва в него, и той е от Бога.

16 A nd we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

И ние познаваме и сме повярвали любовта, която Бог има към нас. Бог е любов; и който пребъдва в любовта, пребъдва в Бога, и Бог пребъдва в него.

17 H erein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

В това се усъвършенствува любовта в нас, когато имаме дръзновение в съдния ден, защото, както е Той, така сме и ние в тоя свят.

18 T here is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

В любовта няма страх, но съвършената любов изпъжда страха; защото страхът има в себе си наказание, и който се страхува, не е усъвършенствуван в любовта.

19 W e love him, because he first loved us.

Ние любим, защото първо Той залюби нас.

20 I f a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Ако рече някой: Люби Бога, а мрази брата си, той е лъжец; защото, който не люби брата си, когото е видял, не може да люби Бога, Когото не е видял.

21 A nd this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

И тая заповед имаме от Него: Който люби Бога, да люби и брата си.
