1 ¶ These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,

3 T he sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born unto him of the daughter of Shua, the Canaanitess. And Er, the firstborn of Judah, was evil in the sight of the LORD, and he slew him.
The sons of Judah were Er, Onan and Shelah. These three were born to him by Bath-shua of Canaan. Judah’s first-born son Er was sinful in the eyes of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death.
4 A nd Tamar, his daughter-in-law, gave birth unto him Pharez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

5 T he sons of Pharez: Hezron and Hamul.
The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
6 A nd the sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara, five of them in all.

7 A nd the sons of Carmi: Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in the anathema.
Carmi’s son was Achar, who brought trouble to Israel by sinning against what was holy.
8 A zariah was the son of Ethan.

9 T he sons that were born unto Hezron: Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai.
The sons born to Hezron were Jerahmeel, Ram and Chelubai.
10 A nd Ram begat Amminadab, and Amminadab begat Nahshon, prince of the sons of Judah;
Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, the leader of the sons of Judah.
11 A nd Nahshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Boaz,
Nahshon was the father of Salma. Salma was the father of Boaz.
12 A nd Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse,
Boaz was the father of Obed. And Obed was the father of Jesse.
13 A nd Jesse begat his firstborn Eliab, and Abinadab the second and Shimma the third,
Jesse was the father of Eliab his first-born, then Abinadab his second son, and Shimea his third.
14 N ethaneel the fourth, Raddai the fifth,
Nethanel was his fourth son, Raddai the fifth,
15 O zem the sixth, David the seventh,
Ozem the sixth, and David the seventh.
16 w hose sisters were Zeruiah, and Abigail. The sons of Zeruiah were three: Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.

17 A nd Abigail gave birth to Amasa, whose father was Jether the Ishmeelite.

18 ¶ And Caleb, the son of Hezron, begat Jerioth of Azubah, his wife. And her sons were Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
Hezron’s son Caleb had sons by his wives Azubah and Jerioth. Azubah’s sons were Jesher, Shobab and Ardon.
19 A nd when Azubah was dead, Caleb took Ephrath as wife, who gave birth to Hur unto him.
When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath. She gave birth to his son Hur.
20 A nd Hur begat Uri, and Uri begat Bezaleel.
Hur was the father of Uri. And Uri was the father of Bezalel.
21 A nd afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir, the father of Gilead, whom he married when he was sixty years old, and she gave birth to Segub unto him.
Later, when Hezron was sixty years old, he married the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead. She gave birth to his son Segub.
22 A nd Segub begat Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.

23 A nd Geshur and Aram took the cities of Jair from them, with Kenath and its towns, even sixty cities. All these were of the sons of Machir, the father of Gilead.

24 A nd after Hezron was dead in Calebephratah, then Abiah, Hezron’s wife, gave birth to Ashur unto him, the father of Tekoa.

25 A nd the sons of Jerahmeel, the firstborn of Hezron, were Ram, the firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
The sons of Hezron’s first-born Jerahmeel were Ram the first-born, then Bunah, Oren, Ozem and Ahijah.
26 J erahmeel had also another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.

32 A nd the sons of Jada, the brother of Shammai: Jether and Jonathan; and Jether died without children.

33 A nd the sons of Jonathan: Peleth and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel.

38 a nd Obed begat Jehu, and Jehu begat Azariah,
Obed was the father of Jehu. Jehu was the father of Azariah.
39 a nd Azariah begat Helez, and Helez begat Eleasah,
Azariah was the father of Helez. Helez was the father of Eleasah.
40 a nd Eleasah begat Sisamai, and Sisamai begat Shallum,
Eleasah was the father of Sismai. Sismai was the father of Shallum.
41 a nd Shallum begat Jekamiah, and Jekamiah begat Elishama.
Shallum was the father of Jekamiah. And Jekamiah was the father of Elishama. The Family of Caleb
42 N ow the sons of Caleb, the brother of Jerahmeel, were Mesha, his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and of his other sons, Mareshah, the father of Hebron.
These are the sons of Jerahmeel’s brother Caleb. Mesha was his first-born and the father of Ziph. His son was Mareshah, the father of Hebron.
43 A nd the sons of Hebron: Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem and Shema.
44 A nd Shema begat Raham, the father of Jorkoam; and Rekem begat Shammai.

45 A nd the son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Bethzur.

46 A nd Ephah, Caleb’s concubine, gave birth to Haran, Moza, and Gazez unto him, and Haran begat Gazez.
Ephah was the woman who acted as Caleb’s wife. She gave birth to Haran, Moza and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.
47 A nd the sons of Jahdai: Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
The sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48 M aachah, Caleb’s concubine, gave birth to Sheber and Tirhanah unto him.
Maacah, who acted as Caleb’s wife, gave birth to Sheber and Tirhanah.
49 S he also gave birth to Shaaph, the father of Madmannah, Sheva, the father of Machbenah and father of Gibea. And Achsah was the daughter of Caleb.

50 T hese were the sons of Caleb, the son of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah: Shobal, the father of Kirjathjearim,

51 S alma, the father of Bethlehem, Hareph, the father of Bethgader.

52 A nd the sons of Shobal, the father of Kirjathjearim, who was lord of half of Manaheth.

53 A nd the families of Kirjathjearim: the Ithrites and the Puhites and the Shumathites and the Mishraites; of them came the Zareathites and the Eshtaulites.

54 T he sons of Salma: Bethlehem and the Netophathites, the crowns of the house of Joab, and half of the Manahethites, the Zorites.

55 A nd the families of the scribes who dwelt at Jabez: the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.
The families of the writers who lived at Jabez were the Tirathites, the Shimeathites and the Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.
