1 Aleph Halelu-JAH. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, Beth that delights greatly in his commandments.

Praise the Lord! How happy is the man who honors the Lord with fear and finds joy in His Law!

2 G imel His seed shall be mighty upon earth; Daleth the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

His children will be powerful in the land. Each family who is right will be happy.

3 H e Wealth and riches shall be in his house; Vau and his righteousness endures for ever.

Riches and well-being are in his house. And his right-standing with God will last forever.

4 Z ain A light has shined in the darkness upon the upright: Cheth Gracious and merciful and righteous.

Light rises even in darkness for the one who is right. He is kind and has loving-pity and does what is right.

5 T eth A good man has mercy and lends; Jod He will govern his affairs with good judgment.

Good will come to the man who is ready to give much, and fair in what he does.

6 Caph Surely he shall not be moved for ever; Lamed the righteous shall be in eternal remembrance.

He will never be shaken. The man who is right and good will be remembered forever.

7 M em He shall not be afraid of evil rumours; Nun his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

He will not be afraid of bad news. His heart is strong because he trusts in the Lord.

8 S amech His heart is established; he shall not be afraid, Ain until he sees his desire upon his enemies.

His heart will not be shaken. He will not be afraid and will watch those lose who fight against him.

9 P e He has dispersed; he has given to the poor; Tzaddi his righteousness endures for ever; Koph his horn shall be exalted in glory.

He has given much to the poor. His right-standing with God lasts forever. His horn will be lifted high in honor.

10 R esh The wicked shall see it and be furious; Schin he shall gnash with his teeth and waste away: Tau The desire of the wicked shall perish.

The sinful man will see it and be troubled and angry. He will grind his teeth and waste away. The desire of the sinful will come to nothing.
