1 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
The Lord said to Moses,
2 C ommand the sons of Israel that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.
“Tell the people of Israel to bring you pure oil from beaten olives for the light to keep a lamp burning all the time.
3 O utside the veil of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the testimony, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually; it shall be a perpetual statute for all your ages.
Outside the curtain of the Law in the meeting tent, Aaron will keep it burning from evening to morning before the Lord always. It will be a Law forever for all your people.
4 H e shall order the lamps upon the pure lampstand before the LORD continually.
He will take care of the lamps on the pure gold lamp-stand before the Lord all the time. The Bread Gift
5 A nd thou shalt take fine flour and bake twelve cakes thereof; each cake shall be of two-tenth deals.
“Then take fine flour and bake twelve loaves of bread. Use two jars of flour for each loaf.
6 A nd thou shalt set them in two orders, six in each order, upon the clean table before the LORD.
Set them side by side in two rows, six in each row, on the pure gold table before the Lord.
7 A nd thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each order, that it may be on the bread for an aroma and incense unto the LORD.
Put pure, sweet-smelling spices on each row to go with the bread as something to be remembered. It is a gift by fire to the Lord.
8 E very sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually: an everlasting covenant of the sons of Israel.
Every Day of Rest he will set it before the Lord all the time. It is a Law forever for the people of Israel.
9 A nd it shall belong to Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in the holy place, for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD on fire, by a perpetual statute.
The bread is for Aaron and his sons who will eat it in a holy place. It is a most holy part for him out of the gifts by fire to the Lord. It is his share forever.” Punishment for a Person Who Spoke against God
10 ¶ In that season the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the sons of Israel; and this son of the Israelite woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp;
Now the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went among the people of Israel. And the Israelite woman’s son and a man of Israel fought with each other among the tents.
11 a nd the Israelite woman’s son pronounced the Name and cursed; and they brought him unto Moses. And his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.
The son of the Israelite woman swore against the name of the Lord. So they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the family of Dan.)
12 A nd they put him in ward that the mind of the LORD might be showed them.
And they kept him shut up until the will of the Lord might be made known to them.
13 A nd the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
Then the Lord said to Moses,
14 B ring forth the one that has blasphemed outside the camp and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
“Take the one who has sworn against Me away from the tents. Let all who heard him lay their hands on his head. Then let all the people kill him by throwing stones.
15 A nd thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, The man that speaks evil of his God shall bear his sin.
Say to the people of Israel, ‘If anyone swears against his God, he will suffer for his own sin.
16 A nd he that pronounces the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him; the same with the stranger as with the natural, if he pronounces the Name, he shall be put to death.
The one who speaks against the name of the Lord will be put to death for sure. All the people will kill him with stones. Both the stranger and those born in the land will be put to death when he speaks against the name of the Lord.
17 L ikewise he that kills any man shall surely be put to death.
‘If a man takes the life of any human being, he will be put to death for sure.
18 A nd he that kills an animal shall make it good: animal for animal.
The one who takes the life of an animal will pay for it, a life for a life.
19 A nd if a man causes a blemish in his neighbour; as he has done, so shall it be done to him;
If a man hurts his neighbor, it will be done to him just as he has done,
20 b reach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he has caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.
broken bone for broken bone, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Just as he has hurt a man, so he will be hurt.
21 H e that kills an animal shall restore it, but he that kills a man shall be put to death.
So the one who kills an animal will pay for it with an animal. But the one who kills a man will be put to death.
22 Y e shall have one manner of law: as for the stranger, so shall it be for the natural; for I am the LORD your God.
You will have the same Law for the stranger and for the one born among you. For I am the Lord your God.’”
23 A nd Moses spoke to the sons of Israel that they should bring forth the one that had blasphemed out of the camp and stone him with stones. And the sons of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.
Then Moses spoke to the people of Israel. And they took the one who swore against God and brought him away from the tents and killed him with stones. So the people of Israel did as the Lord told Moses.
